Who IS this Jesus?

I was tempted to make this thread a poll. But it would consist of two choices that are least voted for and "other" which would give everyone the opportunity to describe and promote their version of Jesus.

I don't even want to suggest my version of Jesus as an option... I guess is the point I am trying to make at first.

Rather, since I have discovered that the Bible is its own best commentary and that only the Holy Spirit is the one to interpret the scriptures properly, this thread should be about what the Bible says about Jesus.

Please freely contribute to this vital topic siting (and hopefully printing out) the Bible passages which support your findings.

If done in a loving  manner, we may discover things about Jesus we never knew was in the Bible.

I recently heard of this book and I plant to get it - I just wanted to share it because it sounds like it fits this topic well. I have read a lot of things from Chuck Missler and I know a little bit about William Welty. I like them both very much. Both have a very conservative hermeneutical perspective.

Lets start at the beginning!

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being that has come into being.

I love this verse because it reminds me just how big my Lord is. There is a lot to feel good about in the first sections of John but this verse sets the context by first placing Christ in is rightful role as eternal creator.

I am an old Missler fan. I must have seen him preach in a half dozen events. I had (past tense) his entire Newport / Costa Mesa Bible studies from the 1980's on cassette. I gave them all away thinking I could some how download them... fooled me...

Anyway, he is a great source of Biblical studies.

You might keep him in prayer. He lost his beloved wife last November.

Exodus 3:13–15 (AV)
13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

Jesus is the LORD (YHVH) Creator of heaven and earth:

Isaiah 44:24 (AV)
24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Redeemer in Hebrew is kinsman redeemer meaning the redeemer had to be next of kin. Only Jesus in the Godhead has the additional nature of humanity.
So this is also saying that YHVH (the LORD) is Jesus preincarnate.

BTW, he was in company with the Father (1 John 1:2) and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2) in the beginning when he created all things created... but he acted alone by himself.

To me,  He is the Son of God.  He is God.  He chose to come to earth in the form of man so that I could live forever with Him when at 16 I decided to make Him the Lord of my life.  That day I put Him on the the throne.  He is alive and lives in me.  He died on that cross so that His blood could cover my sins.  He conquered the grave to that I might live with Him eternally.   His Holy Spirit dwells in me everyday and I have fellowship with Him.  He is the lover of my soul.  He is the one that heals by body and my broken heart.  He is all in all, there is  nothing else I need. 

I trust Him with my life, and all that I have, because He is the one that gave me everything.  

Praise His Holy Name!

Jesus, as understand him, is God's lamb who suffered and died AFTER having been given ALL authority in Heaven and Earth, who was resurrected by the Holy Spirit that gave testimony that he was righteous, who now sits at the right hand of God working to bring into subjection all things unto himself.

His son also passed away since his wife's death. I listen to him on his K-Rations podcasts. You can hear the difference in his voice since such a great loss. William Welty has joined Koinonia House, his depth of knowledge is remarkable. He is a key person in the ISV translation (the only bible other than the KJV that Chuck will use!). I have a feeling Welty will take the torch from Dr. Missler one day.
