Ester,  I usually listen to the Bible instead of leisure reading....   i get more out if it that way....  but that's just me.

I enjoy listening sometimes as well.  I even listen while playing computer games or crocheting and get something out of it.  I just don't like to always see it as a work because that mentality starts to affect other areas of my life, and the way I see my understanding or knowledge of the Bible.  It is through grace we are saved and not of works lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8).  And it is by grace that we read or listen to the Bible.  It is a gift.  It is not to become strife.  So all ways that it can be seen as a leisure at least some of the time, is a good thing in my opinion.

Esther what your take on this verse?

2 Ti 2:15

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
KJV

Well I find it to be a passive aggressive way of disagreeing with me or insulting me.

But, in other words I think it means to know what He has said in His word and be able to use it effectively to identify insincerity in the response of others.

Thanks.

Blessings Rusty,,,

     Yes,back on Topic...................

Just the fact that you went back, not once but twice to see what you could have missed is very telling,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that reflects the open heart, mind & spirit you have to Receive Gods Word,Praise Jesus and knowing you as I do,you do have Wisdom & Understanding -giving ALL Glory to God!!!!!

The test was made with intention to stump the reader, they already know what you will be thinking when you read the question a particular way & it is done in a way that you have to look closely,,,,,,,,,,,,the answers are basically the answers WE ALL know ,they are not difficult, the WAY it is asked is .....for example,,,,,,

I fell right into the trap for the simplest question asked, about when "satan" was first mentioned,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if we take the time to think about it we know the word "satan" is never mentioned in Genesis but our minds automatically go to where we know was his first interaction with Eve,,,,,you see? That is why it is true,"knowledge" or academics & intellect can often hinder "Wisdom",,,,,,,,,,,Glory to God!

So,don't feel embarrassed or as you say 'humiliated",,,,,,,,,,,,the test does help the reader to "pay attention" to what we are reading,,,,more than a "Bible Knowledge" test it is more a comprehension builder,,,,,,,,,,Praise Jesus!                      With love-in Christ,Kwik

HELLO  M.G, have you missed me, I am Back?

knowing the bible is about walking in the spirit of truth and holiness, as given to us by the father God, and its not about testing and being tested, as I believe it to be a life style, to me, and so I meditate and am of the bible and scripture every day , and when I rise, I open my bible, and so many have not figured this truth out , that we are to live the word, and for every word is God breath and is for our standing in the faith that we believe,

I cannot see how people can gage them selves on a test of knowledge, for this tosses away the closeness of the personal relationship that , we are to have, for we walk by faith , and yet Jesus said ,to believe and be accounted and children of the most high .

It was for fun SS don't you have fun?

MG,

I would suggest a slightly different course of action. Make that "Bible study", which means (1) investing in some legitimate Bible study tools, (2) committing a specific amount of time daily, and (3) investing time and labor to get to know Bible truth.  If there is someone you can team up with, all the better. Be warned. Study is hard work, but it pays off.

I don't mind the work; it's time that I'm short of.  I guess I need to figure out why I never have enough time for anything.

I don't know what you're trying to say here; everyone seems to enjoy testing their Bible knowledge. Try it, you might enjoy it. Have you been gone?

Well I got a 38\40.  That was pretty fun.  I also want to throw something out there to be encouraging hopefully.  I disagree that gaining Bible knowledge has to be the result of a serious study.  Most of the time, Bible reading is leisure for me.  I read the Bible the same way I would read "War and Peace," and I did pretty good if I do say so.  I hardly ever use a dictionary.  I underline things just because I like them and for no specific reason.  Its just makes it fun.

When I read the Bible, I remember what Jesus told Martha when she was worried about getting dinner ready.  He said,   "Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,   but few things are needed—or indeed only one.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”(Luke 10:41:42).

Deeper study is fun too sometimes.  It is a fun way to share what I have gained with others, but at the end of the day, only one thing is required.  We can give up all the Bible work we do and just sit at His feet like Mary did.  It is always good to come back to this understanding.

38, huh?  Honestly, I'd better get on the ball here.  Good job, Esther.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
