And if you are comparing the Blessed Virgin Mary (Lk.1:48) with some demonic goddess, how do plan on explaing that one to Jesus? If this is the case, I sure wouldn't want to be in your shoes when that time comes. You might want to seek forgivness for dis-respecting His Mother if it is..

a little late in the day for this but,,,,,,,,,,,, The Blessed Virgin Mary, and Mary, the virgin maiden who gave birth to Jesus, are two completely different entities~~~~

Why is it important to know the history of the  obelisks. It is important for biblical reasons because they are not simply a stone structures. They were used as object of worship by ancient Egyptian associated with Baal worship. Anything that was used for worship for false gods, our true God hates. Read this warning from the God of Israel to the Hebrews before they entered the Promise Land in Deuteronomy 7:25–26 – KJV.

25, The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26, Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

There was no compromise to that. People today may see the obelisks the other way such as they are archaeological treasures, a part of ancient of history that is meant to keep. But objects of worship according to our God should be detested, set apart for destruction. God set an example to Israel when just one man disobeyed this command and the whole Israel suffered.

In the days of Joshua , the Israelites were in great distress why they were defeated by the very small city of Ai. They later found out that one of their men, Achan, kept devoted things taken secretly from Jericho, another city they previously defeated. Read this story in Joshua 6 and 7.

So what is the implication today if we disobey God's command in Deuteronomy 7:25-26? First remember that the four cities possessing the four obelisks known as Cleopatra's Needles, in New York City, London, Paris and in St. Peters Square, Vatican, Rome all belong to the western world.

Pagan Obelisk.

this consistent argument by a few of our participating members carries as much credibility as the lgbt community's constant instance that uni-sexual marriages are normal and legitimate--- both are a wrong headed slap in the face of obvious truth

I agree, like I said several times before , Paul never taught Jesus + some church brings salvation, Paul never taught Jesus + certain sacraments brings salvation, Paul never taught Jesus plus legalism brings salvation, Paul never taught Jesus + purgatory brings salvation, Paul never taught circumcision brings salvation, Paul taught only Jesus + nothing else brings salvation.
We cannot do anything, or add anything to all Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit did to save mankind.

I heard a preacher once say, legalism elevates mans ideas and teachings and theories to the lever of God's commandments.

Basically?   You mean for the most part, but not completely? Interesting. So let me ask you something else Warrior. If God was capable of using thousands of sinners to infallibly communicate infallible truth, then, so that the Church could see it as the truth, which is the Bread of Life, which is Christ himself and all the teachings, if God could do it then, with fallible sinners, like Peter and Paul and John and Matthew, couldn't He still do it? In other words, certainly God is capable, wouldn't you agree?  If you look around at how the Church spreads throughout the world, do you suppose that Jesus would say, "Well, once I give the Church this infallible scripture, there really is no need anymore for infallible interpretations of scripture. The Church can hold together just with the infallible Bible." Peace

I used the word basically because your questions were short and not to detail.  So, i think you should understand the why basically was used there.   The more active word "yes" is the telling word that answers your question.

Now according to your reply above, are you saying that the New Testament cannon is open and can be added to it, and the pontiff can do this ?.  Make your statement clear and stop the rhetoric of asking a question when you are asked a question.  It is called low balling or hitting under the belt.

And to answer your questions above, that is why the Holy Spirit was sent, so that he would guide and teach believers to conviction and truth.  God also gave gifts to men to do many things to glorify him and be witnesses unto the gospel.

How can there be unity and loyalty in a church with a history like this? Papal power was based on more than scriptures. The popes acquired large amounts of land, and bishops and clergy were, in theory, agents of papal programs.

Pope Innocent III’s increased involvement in Imperial elections took historically documented form when he called the Fourth Lateran Council  in 1215 during which time he beckoned about 1200 bishops, abbots and nobles from around Europe to assist in either tweaking current laws or creating new ones to further influence the masses in supporting the Pope as the universal authority of the Empire.

In order to define fundamental doctrines, the council reviewed the nature of the Eucharist, the ordered annual confession of sins, and prescribed detailed procedures for the election of bishops. The council also mandated a strict lifestyle for clergy, banning their participation in judicial procedures involving extremely painful punishments by which the accused would either atone for their sins or prove themselves innocent of often frivolous charges. One doctrine that confirmed the “power over the spirit” theory was the implementation by the council mandating that Jews wear special identifying markings on their clothing – a sign of the increased hostility felt by Christians towards Jews in the region.

Innocent III, died suddenly at Perugia  on 16 July 1216. He was buried in the cathedral of Perugia, where his body remained until Pope Leo X111 had it transferred to the Lateran in December 1891.

Innocent III was believed to be in purgatory  on the very day he died. He is said to have appeared to St. Lutgarda  in her monastery at Aywieres  in Branbant. Engulfed in flames, he declared to her, “I am Pope Innocent”. He continued to explain that he was in purgatory for three faults which had caused him to arrive in this state. Innocent asked St. Lutgarda to come to his assistance, saying, “Alas! It is terrible; and will last for centuries if you do not come to my assistance. In the name of Mary, who has obtained for me the favour of appealing to you, help me!” At that moment he disappeared and St. Lutgarda informed her sisters of what she had seen.

The last paragraph, Mumbo Jumbo to the MAX!

SO, A BIG PART OF UNITY IS TO "NOT TEACHING WHERE WE ARE NOT CALLED." THIS IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST CAUSE OF DIVISION IN THE CHURCH!

I'll end this with a couple of quotes that are pertinent.

"The Protestant Reformation resulted in the continuous division of churches over the interpretation of Scripture, each new denomination insisting on its own as authentic. But of course, since they all contradict each other, they can’t all be correct. The divisions continue to this day—thousands of them. If this is reformation, I’d hate to see chaos!"------Fr. Vincent Serpa

And....

"There is nothing more serious than the sacrilege of schism because there is no just cause for severing the unity of the Church."------St. Augustine

The Split between Western Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy

Aug 20th, 2011 | By Dr. Jim Eckman | Category: Culture & Wordview, Featured Issues

The division of the church between East and West is rooted deep in church history.  First of all, early on leaders noticed the difference and discrepancies that language brought.  The Eastern Church spoke and wrote Greek, while the West began to speak and write in Latin.  This was perhaps the first sign that there was division within the church.  Several additional developments enhanced the linguistic and geographical separation.  First, when Pepin made his donation of land in central Italy to the papacy in 756, he caused the pope to fix his attention more to the West and basically ignore the East.  The pope was now the largest landholder in Italy, with an annual income of over one million dollars, and a recognized secular as well as religious leader.  Second, Pepin’s son, Charlemagne, came to Rome and on Christmas Day, 800, was formally crowned Holy Roman Emperor by Pope Leo III.  This act symbolized the division of East and West.

A doctrinal development further intensified the obvious East-West division.  The issue centered on the question of who sent the Holy Spirit–the Father or the Father and Son?  The great 5th century theologian Augustine (354-430) argued strongly that the Spirit was sent (“proceeded from”) both the Father and the Son.  In 589, at Western council that met in Toledo, Spain, Western theologians added to the Nicene Creed of 381 the language that the Spirit proceeded from the Father and the Son (in Latin, filioque, “and from the Son”).  This controversy is hence called the filioque controversy.  The Eastern theologians strongly protested this addition.  Another theological controversy separating East and West was the dating of Easter.  During the first several centuries of the church, Eastern Christians celebrated Easter on Passover.  The West always celebrated Easter on a Sunday.  At the 325 Council of Nicea, the Eastern practice was condemned, thereby marking another divergence.  By the 4th century, Easter was being celebrated on different Sundays all over Christendom.  During the 6th century, a monk named Dionysius Exiguus, worked out a formula for dating Easter and created the B.C.-A.D. system for numbering years.  The West accepted his system; the East did not.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
