Yes,that makes pefect sense, isn't that pretty much what the ,movie "Dirty Dancing" was all about? That was a big tudoo down in the Bible belt..... the heathens went to dance halls & bars I'm not much younger than you but I was raised in NYC,I LOVED to dance, went everywhere to dance, never drank but hung out on the dance floor all night, dancing changed in my time,,,you danced sort of free style & not touching your partner & then came "disco".....it was a work out but nothing promiscious about it.......my mom & dad did the lindy, cha cha, jitter bug,I can't imagine it leading to anything but soaking your feet & some ben-gay....lol With love-in Christ, kwik

One mellowed when a new pastor came who introduced square dancing to the youth. Another did not allow women to wear pants or people to dance. But the pastor turned the pulpit over to an Assyrian Church bishop during his absence, who brought people up before the alter and taught us traditional Hebrew songs and dances! It was so cool! Understand there IS dancing, then there is dirty dancing then there is just plain smut... and some is vulgar and pornographic. My Beloved Wife and I were avid fans of Dancing With the Stars (even attended a Tuesday night broadcast with guest Dolly Parton which was awesome). But at times even it crossed the line with our comfort zone and we are a bit more liberal with dancing than most. So a carte blanc thumbs up for any and all dancing is NOT what I am saying. But folks can be too uptight for their own good about things... {sigh}

Nothing bad with dancing if done appropiate, some dancers danced absolutely beautiful!

Also the dance halls where adults went to dance were kind of wild and served alcohol which kind of lowers ones inhibitions to do things that we would not normally do. The dancing among teen and most adults those days were often very sexual (slow dances) and people practically did have --- on the dance floor That's where the difference come in.... I never understood that one. Church Organizations try to control the Church Organism through such taboos. 1 Corinthians 6:12 (NASB95) 12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 10:23–24 (NASB95) 23 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor. It's amazing to me how people try to put God back into the Old Covenant Law where the primary concern of people of faith was do the dos and don't do the don'ts... The primary concern of the New Covenant is evangelism. And notice verse 24. Sound familiar? Matthew 22:36–40 (NASB95) 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38 “This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 “The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ 40 “On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” If we would concern ourselves with evangelizing the lost and loving others as we love ourselves... 99.99% of sin would never be committed. And for sins that are committed by believers... 1 John 1:5 -- 2:17 To contract the Old Covenant with the New... Romans 7:14 -- 8:39 Some can get sexually expressive and risque dancing, or jogging, or walking... nothing wrong with walking or jogging or dancing it's the degree of what is inappropriate in a particular setting etc. that is the matter of imposition / bringing about a sexual response (gawking, lusting, etc.). But building a denominational platform on tabooing it... unbiblical.

If you're talking about modern dancing the kind of dancing that is done to rock music, it is because many the moves and gyrations are often very sexually suggestive and can lead to sexual temptation. Couple that with the beat and sexually suggestive lyrics and you have the perfect environment for temptation that can easily lead to sexual immorality.
