Jesus celebrated Passover, the day before he was died.

Read Matthew Chaptor 26.

Then Jesus died on Friday, this is not a myth, but in Scripture.

Now there was a virtuous and righteous man named Joseph who, though he was a member of the council, had not consented to their plan of action. He came from the Jewish town of Arimathea and was awaiting the kingdom of God.

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

After he had taken the body down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid him in a rock-hewn tomb in which no one had yet been buried.

It was the day of preparation, and the sabbath was about to begin. Luke 23:50-54

The Sabbath begins at sundown, Friday evening. So, Jesus died on Friday.

As far as three days goes, it is that Jesus would rise ON the 3rd day. Friday is one, Saturday two and Sunday is the third day.

As far as replacing the pagan holiday of Estre, I say good!

We celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, not the pagan holiday.

I remember when I first learned of the pagan origins of the modern-day Christmas and Easter festivities I was very shocked.

Then, I realized that I do not engage in these activities with the goddess Ishtar or Saturnalia on my mind, hence I am not engagin in idolotry whatsoever.

God's grace is so abundant. It matters not which day we celebrate these things on.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

The body is of Christ. It is all about Christ.

Rom 14:23 ...for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

If it is done in faith then it is not sin.

Rom 14:22 ...Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

As far as three days goes, it is that Jesus would rise ON the 3rd day. Friday is one, Saturday two and Sunday is the third day.

By my reckoning with what you are saying Jim sundown Friday till sundown Saturday would be one day...then sundown Saturday till sundown Sunday would be two days and therefore sundown Sunday till sundown Monday would be the third day...things don't add up.

When you say...

Then Jesus died on Friday, this is not a myth, but in Scripture
. I actually can't find where it says that Jesus died on a Friday only the assumption that the day before the Sabbath pertained to a Friday which is not always the case as NewPilgrim pointed out...but I won't labour the point here maybe another thread is appropriate for those interested...or maybe we should wait till Pesach.

Like some people have stated..."Hallehulah the L-rd has risen"...but it is also good search things out and dig deep and not to be afraid to change ones viewpoint where Scripture convinces to do so.

Jesus Christ kept the Passover meal at the beginning of Nisan 14. That's the night before he died but actually the SAME day since days begin at sunset. (Incidentally, not 6pm as some posters say). The Sabbath which was coming on was "a high day". That is, not the weekly Sabbath but the First Day of Unleavened Bread. A careful study of ALL the scriptures and a knowledge of the way the Holydays fell in the year of His death will reveal that he died on a Wednesday afternoon, was three days and three nights in the tomb (as He said was the ONLY sign He was the Messiah) and actually rose just before sunset on the weekly Sabbath (Saturday). Only careless reading of scripture will cause a belief that he actually rose on Sunday morning.

We DO need to be picky about the days. God forbids us from taking a pagan day and trying to use it to worship Him. (Deut 12: 30-32). Those who celebrate Easter are actually thumbing their nose at the very One who died for their sins.

John 19:19 tells us that the next day was a "High Sabbath." High Sabbaths can occur on any day of the week. There are seven "High Sabbaths." So it is not necessarily so that He died on Friday. You cannot get three days and three nights unless He died on Wedensday.

Hmmm, in my Bible, John 19:19, doesn't mention anything about the Sabbath. Are you sure you have the right verse?

paraskeue, preparation (i.e. the preparation that was made on the sixth day for the Sabbath;

Now there was a virtuous and righteous man named Joseph who, though he was a member of the council, had not consented to their plan of action. He came from the Jewish town of Arimathea and was awaiting the kingdom of God.

When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a distinguished member of the council, who was himself awaiting the kingdom of God, came and courageously went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Mark 15:42-44

Observance of what has become known as Good Friday, goes back to the early Church.

You seem to be saying that for over 2000 years of Christianity, the Church hasn't figured out that Jesus didn't die on Friday, but you did.

I think I'll stick to what the Church has always believed and taught.

Sundown Thursday to sundown Friday is one day. Sundown Friday to sundown Saturday is the 2nd day. Sundown Saturday to sundown Sunday, is the 3rd day.

Jesus died on Friday and on the 3rd day, rose, which is Sunday.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
