Does anyone remember the song what if God was one of us ? I love that song so much. For some reason I feel like God is sitting right next to me when I listen to it. The part where it says what if he was sitting on a bus making his way home. Then I thought of Jesus making his way to Lazarus and Martha and Mary's home. Sitting with them. What if Jesus was one of us making his way home to us ? I think he does everyday.  It brings tears to my eyes to think of him making his way to us. He has a face that i think would show his expectation while he is making his way home to us. I can just see him. He would not look like somebody so high and mighty but like someone who was one of us just like the song. Now people he is of course high and mighty. But he is also lowly and meek and kind. I can prove that,he wants to be with me Wayne. He has to be lowly then lol. But Jesus is a friend. If we have no friends we do have one friend who makes his way to us. I do have some friends but i know if i was alone without friends my true friend who cares for me as I am. He sees my faults and my pitiful selfishness. He just keeps trying to awaking me to be like him. The part of the song yes yes God is great yes yes God is good is singing so true of God. I do love this song.  I know it's not really a Christian song but it surely expresses God's goodness.

Hey Yowm I did the same. I do remember taking the bus in the bronx in the summer to go to summer school for music. On the bus every morning was a Jewish man about 55 I guess who always had a strong scent like dry sweat. I use to disdain him. I made faces to the other adults on the bus and I was 12 then. I guess we did not know better.

Hope you don't mind my differing opinion about the whole lyric which is a misrepresentation of the Bible Truth .   Sorry , Wayne, no offence but I didn't care for the song at all.  ;)

It says..."If God had a name, what would it be? " Ah the Bible says God does have a name  it is Yahweh and God has a Son, Yeshua.   But God is not a "slob" like one of us and HE is not "making HIS way HOME...like a holy rolling stone...back up to Heaven all alone". sorry.  Wrong.   And that "the Pope" is the ONLY one Calling GOD on the Phone??--No wrong.

And people are not just going to heaven either - they need to repent & to know Jesus.  Sure, I understood the one message of it to show kindness to strangers or the needy as per the Bible says to give to those who have less but as a whole -

Hebrews 13:2   “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

If God had a name, what would it be?
And would you call it to His face?
If you were faced with Him in all His glory
What would you ask if you had just one question?

And yeah, yeah God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home?

If God had a face, what would it look like?
And would you want to see?
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets?

And yeah, yeah God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home?

He's trying to make His way home
Back up to Heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in Rome

And yeah, yeah God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home?

Just trying to make His way home

Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to Heaven all alone
Just trying to make His way home
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in Rome

I did not say it was a Christian song lol.I am not taking all the lyrics literal. Just some of them were really true. What if God was one of us. That is such a true statement Davida. Don't be sorry I know what you mean. It says Just a stranger on a bus making his way home. The song shows how God is like us. And in Christ he is. Christ became a man And knows our weakness. He knows insult and hatred. He knows hunger and pain. He is a faithful high priest. I respect your feelings and point of view.

Regardless;

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:40. So treat  other people with kindness as though they were Jesus in the flesh.

No, God is not like us. As we picture Him on His throne, "high and lifted up", and contemplate His holiness and consider His glory and power, we shrink back in shame and humility. Or at least we should.

And yet, although God may not be like us as we are, He sent His only Son to become one of us, that we, through surrendering to His will and purpose for our individual lives, may become like Him.

It is an astounding thing that the Creator of the universe should forever lay aside whatever form He had,  and take on flesh and blood in order to demonstrate God's infinite love for His creatures. We have a blood brother in the throne room of the living God, praying and interceeding with our Father on our behalf. All heaven is interested and intimately involved in our lives. Nothing we do, good or bad, passes the notice of our Father, which is why we can ever take utmost confidence in the truth, that "all things work together for good, for them that love God, and who are the called according to His purpose". Rom.8;28

God made Adam and Eve in His likeness, but after sin entered the genepool Adams descendants were made after the likeness of their sinful forbears.

Genesis 5:3

Psalms 51:5
‭Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.‭

We are still in his likeness. But fallen

In Christ we are a new creation. Partners of the divine nature.

IMO, it also endorses monotheism, as the lyrics that say, "Just tryin' to make his way home, Like back up to heaven all alone."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
