I don't think I did the little quote box thingy quite right????

I think I feel offended because of what I believe is behind the question, namely, "Catholics are not saved". Non-Catholics' negative comments about the pope, at least in my view, are a reflection of their prejudiced attitudes, and often disdain, against Catholics in general.

What prejudice? Am I prejudiced because I tell you what the BIBLE says? This is ridiculous.

Actually, it doesn't matter if it is upper or lower case.

The problem is you have a quote inside a quote, but only one of the quotes ha the quote-starter.

What I mean is to fix the post, click the "EDIT" button.

Then in the text block where is says:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think I did the little quote box thingy quite right????

I think I feel offended

-------------------------------------------------------------------

type in

before the first. So, it will look like this:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think I did the little quote box thingy quite right????

I think I feel offended

----------------------------------------------------------------

Got it?

Lets keep it honest. People enjoy a spirited internet debate though most won't admit it. Usually its Protestant vs. Protestant. Why should Catholics be left out. With a few "play nice" rules, a debate such as this can be healthy. It makes you consider your own dogma and we all have it. No name calling. Just explain to your opponent why you are right and he or she is is wrong. God is the most intence subject there is and why wouldn't we debate it. Seems only natural to me. I admit that I enjoy debating issues concerning God. Most people sit around and watch American Idle but we here are debating the "big question" that will matter for all of eternity. So it gets a bit testy at times. Big deal! We are on the internet folks. We're not going to shoot each other. I think Catholics have it wrong on some issues. I also think my church(Nazerene) has it wrong on some things as well. Not everyone can have it 100% on target like me. My point is this: this is a Christian message board and there are going to be debates. So...just lighten up and tell the other person why they are wrong and give them a chance to respond.

God Bless John Paul

In the spirit of keeping it honest, this is not true for everyone. I, for one, hate debates, spirited or otherwise. I don't even see the usefulness of them most of the time. No one ever changes the other person's mind and no one ever "wins". A mature person might see something in a way they've never thought before, but their viewpoint rarely changes because of it.

I enjoy discussions. I will present my "side" and give reasons why I believe the way I do. I will also politely listen to someone else and their views on the subject. If we don't agree, then I instantly agree to disagree and move on. It's more important to keep the peace than it is to be right, IMO. There is, of course, a time and a place for debates. I just don't happen to enjoy them in the least.

Hey Man....If debating is not your thing than I totally respect that as well. I hope you understand that many do like to debate. At one time I debated with Christians the existance of God. I was told from an early age that religion was nonsence and that heaven and hell were right here on earth and that death was merely"lights out for good". And so I believed that for my first 17 years. It tooks some friends at high school who were willing to challenge my belief or lack of on a consistant basis to win me to Christ. It didn't come overnight. As I recall, it took around a year of hearing my argument countered in a way that was hard for me to counter back before I resigned my previous ill-guided dogma. When some one makes a statement about God, I want to know how they support what they say. Scripture along with logic and reason is what I'm looking for. If it comes rapped in a testy bag? So what. I'm interested in truth. I believe I have the truth and if someone else thinks I've got it wrong. I accept the contest. Truth is more important than someone's feelings getting hurt allthough I will say that if the debate gets off course into a insult match, the outcome is usually less than what I would hope for. I did mention that there should be some ground rules. No name calling ect. ect..

Regards

Dan

[Can someone tell me how to insert those nice little quote boxes, please?????]

Maniac said:

"I'm not Catholic, and that's probably part of the reason I don't understand. But if Billy Graham died, and someone said he wasn't saved, I wouldn't get upset about it and defend him on it. So I don't understand why people get upset about others saying the Pope was not saved. They don't know. And it wouldn't matter if they did.

But, (and I know this may seem inflamitory), it almost seems to me that they (those who get upset) are looking more at the creature (the Pope) than the Creator. Could this be true? Just asking because I honestly DON'T understand."

You ask a good question, M.

DV,

I have taken heat for years because I won't let go of my Catholic roots. I also know the severity and amount of the false doctrine within the church and I'm no longer interested in defending it. Doctrine isn't what damns a person and neither is a church.

I also enjoy debating issues, especially that of prophecy. Why so blind questions the salvation of Catholic's. Yet he doesn't take the challenge when faced with controversial issues of prophecy. He and many others would rather remain a revived Roman empirist than seek out the truth. Even many of the big shot prophecy experts refuse to confront the RAE/EU issue because it blows their entire end time theory right out of bible prophecy. They would rather mix the theories and wait until they are proven wrong rather than admit that they made millions on false doctrine.

The RRE and pretribulationism will go down in church history as the most widely held false doctrine of the christian era.

Reverend Turmoil

My official position on prophetic issues in simply; " I really don't know for sure". It is an interesting subject but I have heard so many opinions on this from people who are real Biblical gunslingers that I doubt I will ever really know. I do try to read the Bible and test what others say with it. Thats all I can do. One thing for sure. We all will have an End Time. This is why I think that debate is important. We only get one life to make sure we are right with God. Its very important to think about it. The thought of Hell puts me into paralysis with fear. I want to be as sure as possible that I leave this life with the saving truth.

God Bless

Dan

Deez,

Sorry you took offense.  Just think how us Catholic's feel when other christians continually cut us up.  Not to mention the lengthy anti-Catholic web sites, many of which are Baptist or Fundamentalist Baptist view.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I understand what you're saying. I just disagree with the lumping of Fund. Baptists.

By the way.....I didn't take offense. :57_57: I don't tend to get offended that easily. I was just thinking WSB might get his feelings hurt a little. I'm used to the Baptist comments - especially being Reformed. Man, am I used to it. :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
