Ok, i am just going to say my view on this and leave it at that. I use ONly the old KJV< not the new or any other version.

I do not know how to use the quote things properly so, this will be interesting.

Somone previously had said that they don't belive that any of the orignial manuscripts exist. Many say that they true version of the bible does not exist anymore... here is what the bible says.

Psa 12:6 The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Psa 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The bible says that his words will be preserved from generation to generation. he also says that anyone who adds to his word, or takes away from it will be stopped.

To be honest, not to cause an arguement, i am not going ot trust a version that starts with "New". Does that not say that it is not the orginal and that it has been chanehd around? Differnt versions change around the meaning by changing the words of God.

My stand is that the KJV is the pure, perfect, and infallable word of God.

I have to say I'm in agreement with you. I was avoiding it because you get all the argument. One of the many things I take into consideration is that man is getting more and more corrupt with time. There are things Christians would have not dreamed of taking part in years ago that christians say is acceptable and right now. We have lost our ability to even blush. Even the people who are holy enough and educated enough in someone's mind to translate the Bible in a new version are probably not as holy as the people who worked on the KJV. I'm going with the oldest version that is in a language I can read.

I prefer KJV. I've had problems with the NIV with some of the wording while doing Bible studies.

I have a question, can anyone enlighten me about the Geneva Bible? Is it helpful for those who have a hard time with the KJV?

I agree the NIV is not a good bible to study from no thought for though or paraphrase bible is.

For study i will stick to aNKJV and NASB

As far as I can understand the Geneva and KJ are very similar in translation and both based on the TR texts.

DIEM. you asked if i meant the NKJV. No, i stick to the tride and true KJV.

This is not meant to be upsetting, and no offense to anybody.

The KJV is said to be hard to understand. It is written at a Second grade reading level, and a seventh grade comprehension level.

    Thank Shan for your reply,

I was told that the Geneva Bible was written before the KJV and I was wondering how accuret it was.

I personally don't care to use the NIV(No offence to those who do  ) but I have been to Bible studies that reccommended using the NIV, but I used the KJV along with it to compare it to the original texts in Hebrew (we were studying Genesis) and some the wording in the NIV didn't match the original text as the KJV did.

I agree with your opinion on the NIV, if you are studying it really is not a good choice. I have no problem with it used for general reading though.

I'm only going to post once because I don't want to go through all this again. Just food for thought, take it or leave it:

My stand is that the KJV is the pure, perfect, and infallable word of God.

But what makes this translation different than other translations? Do you know that the KJV translators admitted some mistakes?

One of the many things I take into consideration is that man is getting more and more corrupt with time.

Noah and Lot might debate you on this.

I've had problems with the NIV with some of the wording while doing Bible studies.

Actually the Life Application NIV is a great study tool. We can argue Textus Recepticus versus the earlier text used for the NIV till we're blue in the face. IMO, both KJV and NIV, as well as some other translations are equally God's Word. Use what brings you closer to Christ.

Hi kittylover,

You misunderstood me.

I wasn't asking if you used the New King James Version.

I was asking if you use the ORIGINAL King James Version from 1611. It had more than just 66 books.

The King James Version you get at the bookstore today is not the 1611 version, but is an updated version (it has been revised about 4 times).

WHAT? Where do you come up with that notion? That's like saying you won't go to church because the person preaching probably isn't as holy as Billy Sunday. How do we know the lives of the people who translated the KJV anyway? Did you know them personally?

I use The Nelson Study NKJV Bible, and there is a good reason why.

There was a time when I did not attend church, pray, or worship God. I had always believed in Jesus Christ, but I never really put faith in Him. Later on I started questioning if the Bible was flawed or not, knowing that it had been written and rewritten many times. One night I asked God, if there is truly a purpose for me, then to show it to me. He did. I took me about three days to truly figure out what He was telling me. Now to my point.

I asked God for forgiveness, and I truly knew that the Bible was not flawed, but I was. I needed a Bible that I could really study and not just read. I asked God to give me or show me what Bible would be best suited for me. A few days later, I went down to my brother's house for what ever reason, and his wife was sitting there looking over a new bible she had received for joining a christian book club. I asked if I could see it. I looked over, and was very impressed at the information that was in it. She then said I could use it for a while to see how I liked it.

I took it to church the next Sunday and gave it back to her on Monday. Tuesday, I went and started looking for the same bible to buy. It was 60 bucks. I did not have the money to buy it, but I was confident that it was the bible that God was wanting me to have. I just had that feeling, you know.

I was going to start saving my money so I could buy it. However, that same Tuesday night, my Sister-inlaw came up to my house and gave me the bible. At that moment I knew that God had answered my prayer to the T. He not only showed me, but He gave me, just like I asked Him.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
