This is off thread, but the British Isles is the only place known to the ancient world, that has iron, lead, silver and tin.

When Alexander the Great conquered Tyre, they took to their ships and relocated to Tarshish, to the town that the Romans renamed; London. These are  provable facts, but if they don't suit your fancy, then believe whatever you like.

Why didn't you continue Ezekiel 7:16.....there I shall slay them for their iniquity.

BTW, Tarshish is Britain. Proved by Ezekiel 27:12  Lebanon does not have silver, iron, lead and tin.

Keras, you didn't by chance looked at Ezekiel 27:12, saw silver, iron, lead and tin in that verse and concluded Tarshish had to be Britain because you think the British Isle is the only place known to the ancient world that had iron, lead, silver and tin?

Ezekiel 27:12 New King James Version (NKJV)

12 “Tarshish was your merchant because of your many luxury goods. They gave you silver, iron, tin, and lead for your goods.

You might want to double check that Keras. Egypt also had and used those raw metals plus many others in the ancient world.

Also if you read Ezekiel 27:12 carefully, the bible said silver, iron, tin and lead were given to them. Meaning it came from elsewhere.

It's not saying Tarshish produced those metals or the metals were found in Tarshish.

Here Keras. All my translations are saying Tarshish is Lebanon. And these are prophecies of the near future.

Ezekiel 27New King James Version (NKJV)

Lamentation for Tyre

27 The word of the Lord came again to me, saying, “Now, son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyre, and say to Tyre, ‘You who are situated at the entrance of the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coastlands, thus says the Lord God:

“O Tyre, you have said,
‘I am perfect in beauty.’
Your borders are in the midst of the seas.
Your builders have perfected your beauty.
They made all your planks of fir trees from Senir;
They took a cedar from Lebanon to make you a mast.
Of oaks from Bashan they made your oars;
The company of Ashurites have inlaid your planks
With ivory from the coasts of Cyprus.
Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was what you spread for your sail;
Blue and purple from the coasts of Elishah was what covered you.

“Inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen;
Your wise men, O Tyre, were in you;
They became your pilots.
Elders of Gebal and its wise men
Were in you to caulk your seams;
All the ships of the sea
And their oarsmen were in you
To market your merchandise.

10 “Those from Persia, Lydia,and Libya
Were in your army as men of war;
They hung shield and helmet in you;
They gave splendor to you.
11 Men of Arvad with your army were on your walls allaround,
And the men of Gammad were in your towers;
They hung their shields on your walls all around;
They made your beauty perfect.

12 “Tarshish was your merchant because of your many luxury goods. They gave you silver, iron, tin, and lead for your goods. 13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They bartered human lives and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. 14 Those from the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses, steeds, and mules. 15 The men of Dedan were your traders; many isles were the market of your hand. They brought you ivory tusks and ebony as payment. 16 Syria was your merchant because of the abundance of goods you made. They gave you for your wares emeralds, purple, embroidery, fine linen, corals, and rubies. 17 Judah and the land of Israel were your traders. They traded for your merchandise wheat of Minnith, millet, honey, oil, and balm. 18 Damascus was your merchant because of the abundance of goods you made, because of your many luxury items, with the wine of Helbon and with white wool. 19 Dan and Javan paid for your wares, traversing back and forth. Wrought iron, cassia, and cane were among your merchandise. 20 Dedan was your merchant in saddlecloths for riding. 21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your regular merchants. They traded with you in lambs, rams, and goats. 22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah were your merchants. They traded for your wares the choicest spices, all kinds of precious stones, and gold. 23 Haran, Canneh, Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Assyria, and Chilmad were your merchants. 24 These were your merchants in choice items—in purple clothes, in embroidered garments, in chests of multicolored apparel, in sturdy woven cords, which were in your marketplace.

25 “The ships of Tarshish were carriers of your merchandise.
You were filled and very glorious in the midst of the seas.
26 Your oarsmen brought you into many waters,
But the east wind broke you in the midst of the seas.

27 “Your riches, wares, and merchandise,
Your mariners and pilots,
Your caulkers and merchandisers,
All your men of war whoare in you,
And the entire company which is in your midst,
Will fall into the midst of the seas on the day of your ruin.
28 The common-land will shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots.

29 “All who handle the oar,
The mariners,
All the pilots of the sea
Will come down from their ships and stand on the shore.
30 They will make their voice heard because of you;
They will cry bitterly and cast dust on their heads;
They will roll about in ashes;
31 They will shave themselves completely bald because of you,
Gird themselves with sackcloth,
And weep for you
With bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.
32 In their wailing for you
They will take up a lamentation,
And lament for you:
‘What city is like Tyre,
Destroyed in the midst of the sea?

33 ‘When your wares went out by sea,
You satisfied many people;
You enriched the kings of the earth
With your many luxury goods and your merchandise.
34 But you are broken by the seas in the depths of the waters;
Your merchandise and the entire company will fall in your midst.
35 All the inhabitants of the isles will be astonished at you;
Their kings will be greatly afraid,
And their countenance will be troubled.
36 The merchants among the peoples will hiss at you;
You will become a horror, and be no more forever.’”’”

Isaiah 23New King James Version (NKJV)

Proclamation Against Tyre

23 The burden against Tyre.

Wail, you ships of Tarshish!
For it is laid waste,
So that there is no house, no harbor;
From the land of Cyprus it is revealed to them.

Be still, you inhabitants of the coastland,
You merchants of Sidon,
Whom those who cross the sea have filled.
And on great waters the grain of Shihor,
The harvest of the River, is her revenue;
And she is a marketplace for the nations.

Be ashamed, O Sidon;
For the sea has spoken,
The strength of the sea, saying,
“I do not labor, nor bring forth children;
Neither do I rear young men,
Nor bring up virgins.”
When the report reaches Egypt,
They also will be in agony at the report of Tyre.

Cross over to Tarshish;
Wail, you inhabitants of the coastland!
Is this your joyous city,
Whose antiquity is from ancient days,
Whose feet carried her far off to dwell?
Who has taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city,
Whose merchants are princes,
Whose traders are the honorable of the earth?
The Lord of hosts has purposed it,
To bring to dishonor the pride of all glory,
To bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.

10 Overflow through your land like the River,
O daughter of Tarshish;
There is no more strength.
11 He stretched out His hand over the sea,
He shook the kingdoms;
The Lord has given a commandment against Canaan
To destroy its strongholds.
12 And He said, “You will rejoice no more,
O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon.
Arise, cross over to Cyprus;
There also you will have no rest.”

13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans,
This people which was not;
Assyria founded it for wild beasts of the desert.
They set up its towers,
They raised up its palaces,
And brought it to ruin.

14 Wail, you ships of Tarshish!
For your strength is laid waste.

15 Now it shall come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot:

16 “Take a harp, go about the city,
You forgotten harlot;
Make sweet melody, sing many songs,
That you may be remembered.”

17 And it shall be, at the end of seventy years, that the Lord will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. 18 Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.

Gonna rephrase this a little as I think this will make it easier for other people to understand the timing on the invasion of Ezekiel 38.

I think a majority of people will agree the a/c is involved in the invasion of Jerusalem in Ezekiel 38.

I think a majority of people will agree the a/c will invade Jerusalem at the middle of the tribulation.

I think a majority of people will agree the a/c invades Jerusalem only once in the end times, not twice.

I think a majority of people will agree the a/c come on the scene during the tribulation and not before.

Hopefully this will make sense to those still wondering if Ezekiel 38 will happen before the tribulation.

Hi Psalms

I noticed that when God is speaking about Tarshish, and associating it with Tyre, he is speaking in code about ....that land....not that physical land that once was, but ....the land of trade and commerce...which is Babylon now, that side of it.  These are all prophesies concerning God bringing down Babylon and all who were made rich of her.

 Isaiah 23:1   The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.

Revelation 18:11   And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

Revelation 18:15   The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

Revelation 18:16   And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

Revelation 18:17   For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Revelation 18:18   And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

Revelation 18:19   And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

Revelation 18:20   Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

All their riches and goods that they have sold their souls for will be taken off them and brought into the millennial kingdom.

 Isaiah 23:18   And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

Hi Sister,

Revelation 18 about Mystery Babylon, not Lebanon. There's many countries in the Middle East situated along the coast with harbors, ships, merchants and traders. Lebanon and Mystery Babylon are just two of many. Plus it's kinda hard to argue Isaiah 23 and Ezekiel 27 as prophecies not about Lebanon since Tyre is mentioned numerous times in those chapters.

If you look at the location of where Japheth and his sons and grandsons settled in Genesis 10, the bible tells us they are all coast land people that settled in the areas in and around Asia Minor. Tarshish had to of settled in an area close to Asia Minor because the bible only mentioned the descendants of Shem and Ham having migrated and went further south. Nowhere else in the bible does it mentioned Japheth's descendants venturing beyond the coastal areas of Asia Minor.

Genesis 10:2-5 New King James Version (NKJV)

The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. From these the coastland peoples of the Gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.

Asia Minor is surrounded by water in the north and west and blocked off by mountains in the east. The only feasible direction was to migrate south as Shem and Ham did.

However, if you wanna talk about the location of Mystery Babylon, I don't mine we do on another thread if you wanna start it. I don't mine talking about the islands fleeing away and the mountains disappeared. John is correct though. The islands and the mountains will be gone.

Revelation 16:17-20 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. 19 Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. 20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

~In Ezekiel 37, the entire chapter is about Israel during the first half of the tribulation when she's is in great prosperity, during which the descendants from the kingdom of Israel have been gathered back to Israel after more than 2700 years since the Assyrian exile.

This makes absolutely no sense.

So God is going to resurrect the slain and raise up the whole house of Israel to be an exceedingly great army, then for them to remain in unbelief, flee to the mountains and later have a 2/3rds killed again? That doesn't sound like an exceedingly great army that "knows the Lord".

Hi Psalms 37,

i have been studying this hard for sometime and I know the argument for making Gog = AC........  I see both the pros and cons here.

but........

the lightbulb still hasn’t gone off for me on this interpretation (yet).

I will keep studying, maybe God will give me a LIGHTBULB moment to see it as you do.

For now, I’m still thinking Russia and other nations aligned with them (Iran, Turkey, Sudan, etc) will get greedy, want something Israel has (natural gas maybe?), attempt to plunder them, and then God does his supernatural thing and rescues Israel. (Readers Digest version)

Thanks for the hard work you put into this though. I will go back over it again.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
