I find a striking resemblance between this young ruler, and Lazarus and the rich man.

It seems that Lazarus had faith, and obeyed TORAH, and received eternal life in the story.  The rich man in that story did not obey TORAH or YHVH, did not follow Jesus nor ask to follow Jesus nor ask to be saved, and never was.

The young man who walked away from Jesus sad because of his many possessions,  may later have repented and been immersed in Yeshua's Name and received eternal life.

Jesus did not come to change the law but to fulfill it. Still the law will not save us but our willingness to follow Christ will.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.   . Eze 36:25-27

This was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost.

What was Jesus' disciple's reply ?
(basically, how can we, how can anyone , be saved !? )

From Biblegateway.com
" Matthew 19:25

When the disciples heard this, they were utterly puzzled (astonished, bewildered), saying, Who then can be saved [from eternal death]?
BRG
When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
CSB
When the disciples heard this, they were utterly astonished and asked, “Then who can be saved?”
CEB
When his disciples heard this, they were stunned. “Then who can be saved?” they asked.
When the talmidim heard this they were utterly amazed. “Then who,” they asked, “can be saved?”

The answer was with man this is impossible to be saved, but not with GOD ,  with God all things are possible

for you see,  GOD can and does change the heart and inward desire of those He has called , those who have come to Faith in the SON

have a whole new heart and whole new desires and their desires are not earthen but heavenly.

thieir desires are walking in the ways OF the LORD wherein the law of righteousness is fulfilled in those who walk after THE SPIRIT and not the flesh.

For the SPIRIT guides these in truth , righteousness, godliness , holiness  , obedience unto righteousness.   THEY WALK as did their LORD by the power

of his indwelling Spirit .   For the Spirit both gives them the desire and ability to do so.   The gospel of Christ is not powerless, but POWERFULL.

[Quoted from some notes.]  And he was sad at that saying - This young man had perhaps been a saint, and an eminent apostle, had he been poor! From this, and a multitude of other cases, we may learn that it is oftentimes a misfortune to be rich: but who is aware of this? - and who believes it?

It appears to me most wealthy people trust in their riches for security than Christ. Mt 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

It's not much different in these days. The rich and wealthy employ people, rule through government and bend peoples will and morals through throwing money at and towards them. Money is power and influence. Just my 2 mites worth.

Talk about the early church who set the example .  the rich sold lands and houses ,   they didn't come together to get THOSE THINGS under a prosperity gosple

they sold them and gave the money to the apostels , who did not heap and steap but gave to every man woman as they had need.

the early church was SOLD on JESUS   not on money .

The desire , love of money is what is evil.    And how do we know we love GOD and neighbor ,   can be seen by what we do with what we have .

Do we heap and steap those riches on earth ,     IF so its where our heart is  but if riches do increase and we simply give to those who have need and don't heap

up for us.............then its seen where our heart is.................In heaven our riches are in heaven and the poor here are taken care of as a result .

The deception is .............thinking man if I had more ............I could.  NOPE , NO NO .

NO.   no no .   NO.     The true mind says................SINCE I HAVE CHRIST I do can do all things through HE who strengthens me .

IN the lack of all HE has me no matter what .

And as he feeds the birds so too he will me .    no worries only peace .   where our treasures are , where our hopes are ,   IS where our heart IS .

If the Lord said The first shall be last and the Last shall be first we should know then that the Lord sees all as common and there should not be any class distinction. A rich man or women should be able to sit at the same table or pew with the poor of any nationality or race. Yet hear in the land of the American dream the church is tipping the class scale all the way. No matter how poor and pure of heart a small church starts if the preacher is good they end up on the rich side of town no matter what denomination. You can tell by the grand religious architecture and the parking lot with all the high class cars.

You know the proud rich man said to him self I have my barns full. I will tare them down and build bigger ones. After all that was done he said I have all I need now so I will take my ease  now having all I need.  I wonder if he was the same rich man that ignored Lazerious

That does not make me any less guilty as the rich who have, and I quote another, " having 20-20 but blind as a bat." I wonder if there are any bats around here. Jesus is the greatest Eye specialist there is.

It use to make me nervous when either in study groups or self study when we or I came to "the rich young ruler". Why dose it say ruler. Is it because the rich rule? That wealth is attached to power? So many things are attached here. How many would give up buying clothes at Sacks and buy at Wal-Mart. or the local thrift store? Sell your Cadillac escalade for a common used car. This is a thinker. some or many here may have done that already. Lets hear it from both sides of the street.

And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

 Mk 10:17-21

A time bomb is already ticking !

Let me say this first. I have never been Rich. I have had my better off days and my lean days. Still this question haunted me. How about you? I have seen the poorest of the poor and those of great wealth.

This has, as you say,”haunted” me as I’ve read that passage all these years yet two weeks ago I awoke Sunday morning, laying there waiting for the sun to come up, I realized a great blackness in my heart. Ugly. See, I recently received a large raise, and though I voluntarily, and joyfully tithe, in my heart I didn’t want to increase my giving, after receiving more. I don’t think the money is of any consequence to God, He created and owns all, but that blackness in my heart was terrible. I repented in fear, and asked Him to take that out of me, but I don’t think I’m done dealing with it yet.  Don’t I trust Him?

Continue to take this to Him in prayer.  Your conscience is a good indicator of His seeking your obedience and convicting you of righteousness.    Always verify in His Word what HE REVEALS TO YOU IN PRAYER, and what HE REVEALS to you in your spirit.  (He will reveal in your spirit first,  then gradually by His Grace in Jesus, YHVH WiLLING,  your mind will start to understand).....

Never compromise.  He says trust Him wholeheartedly,  when /if He says give all up, to be His disciple,  He means it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
