I have no problem going to watch a movie that is not filth. My best friend and I are big fans of action movies, when theres a good one you will find Rusty and Martha in the front row.

One person said they are not going to pay money to watch a clean movie in one room while in the next room there is filth.

My apologies, but I really can't understand or respect this type of thinking. Way too much looking for something to condemn, and not enough "checking the plank in your own eye" for my taste. The Holy Scripture speaks about those who look for evil everywhere (busybodies).

As for movies, we rarely go. Most of it is garbage, and high priced to boot. But, if there is a good, clean one, then we will go and support it.

I'll watch pretty much anything that looks as though it's a good plot. Our society determines what words are "bad", and going by this logic, there is no such thing as an inherently "sinful" or "bad" word... our society determines that. Beyond that, I'll go see anything from comedy to drama to horror to sci-fi... if it looks like it will be an interesting movie. I don't see much difference in reel violence compared to real violence, except that real violence is scarier... Last movie I saw was the Amityville Horror just last week... went to see it with my wife, and I thought it was a pretty good movie.. it's supposed to be based on a true story, too. :D

???:)

I remember one time I went to see a movie ( think it was called Time to Run ) and it was showing at the movie houses..... and a friend of mine could not go see it, cause his church considred it a sin to go to a movie house.....

later on, the same movie, was out for rent, and we went to my friends church to watch it in the basement of the church..... that was not a sin.

the differance?

at the movie house it is a movie

in the church it is a film,

both places were dark,

both places did not have girls and boys separated,

the movie house had comfortable seats,

the basement of the church had folding chairs.

dong know why it was a sin in one place and not in another....

The real sin is groups of people oppressing their peers in the name of religion.

Isn't that like a cult? Telling somebody how to when to and what to?My wife has a problem with scary movies. I don't have a problem with scary movies. They are bad for her because they give her nightmares. They are not bad for me because I sleep like a baby after any movie. It would be a sin if I forced her to watch something scary. It would also be a sin if she told me I cannot watch that.

Religious people cause people to sin by laying big fat trips on them :)

Bro Dave, you got it! :)

Part of the reason the "world" dislikes the religious part of society is because of the ones that claim EVERY thing is sinful. They remind me of the Puritans, yeah they may have started the building of America but they also brought over plenty of other things that are not Biblicial.

You can't wear bright colors, don't laugh don't sing.....don't, don't don't. Makes you wonder if they read the same Bible. I keep reading about the joy we find in the Lord. The Apostles worried about peoples souls and yet also worried about the way people lived their every day life. But in all things they were to be glad and rejoice.

If we lived our lives that way and showed that to the lost just think how much easier it would be for them to see Christ living in us. Instead of being turned off by all of the extras that don't matter. What matters is Christ's death and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins, and trying each day to live in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. Yes I know there are some things that are necessary but I'm not talking about that.

All of that other stuff is nothing but legalistic mumbo jumbo, and Christ and all of the Apostles spoke out against that kind of thinking!

I am sorry. I don't go to movie theaters anymore because i don't trust what could come up on the screen. Most movies in there, that seem to be clean, i am just not interested in watching them. Another thing, the only movie theater that is around here is just plain-old a horrible movie theater that is sick and wrong in every way. I don't remember ever hearing of a good movie there.

To be honest, probably the main reason i don't go is because i don't watch TV that often because i have problems with the temptation to watch something i shouldn't. Besides, i cannot find one true thing that i can agree with on the thing. A.K.A the Helevision. Even Disney has gone bad in most senses.

I am not about to tell someone they shouldn't go to the movie theater and i won't tell someone it is a sin to go. I jsut don't like to go myself.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
