May i ask if you can kindly provide an example of a verse that confuses you trying to decipher the old english ?.    Just want to see what others may also find difficult.   Here below is a couple verse of a KJV, i posted.  You can point out the difficulty.  Thanks

Isaiah 1 King James Version (KJV)

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

This lil wee thing KNOWS what that means .     HMMMM

And I got two good ole dictionaries for some of the words I did know not .    But and this is truth .    even the words , most of them,  that I did not know

when I had looked them up  they had confirmed what I thought they meant .

Don't think some figured this out yet .       here lets rewrite it .    why are the  N   E    W      E       R      translations of the bible missing verses.

And this answer is above.............................................................................................as in LOOK UP here.

NEWER .    NEWER .       hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

just saying .

Kind of like the Newer. Newer. Newer covenant.?

BTW, the reason for "newer" translations is because we don't speak the english of the KJV and, of MUCH more importance, the "newer" translations are gleaned from older transcripts that were discovered after the KJV was compiled.

All you know from the title is that newer versions are newer, and that is not always a bad thing. A Mustang is better than a Model T.

Yeah, I don't have to do that to read most other translations. That's the point. It's like trying to read Shakespeare. If there is a REASON to do it, by all means do it. But for me there isn't.

Anything with a thee or thou, not to mention words that have actually changed their definition since it was written. I even bristled when I heard Billy Graham, in speaking to people, use Thee's and Thou's. I guess it makes your words somehow more "holy" to use old English.

Well, if one's mother tongue is not English, then i can see some stumbling.  By the way, if your grandpa heard you said that about Mr. Billy, you may be out for a spanking.  All is well, to each his own taste.  I like chocolate ice cream, others vanilla, it's still ice cream. :vacuum:  Back to work.

Be encouraged in the LORD .    the thing is that after reading the kjv and learning it .    I had went to read  SOME , key word is SOME

other newer transaltions ,  and I found they omitted , twisted things .   That is the problem I have .     I said SOME I did not say ALL.

The one thing I have found of upmost beauty about the King james is how you can read it and other parts in it ,  agree in full with all the parts .

An example is the word unnatural affection ,     its changed in newer versions to mean without love.  BUT that is not what it means .   it means what romans chapter one

says .  men with men , women with women.      Or other things .    Like its so beautiful how clear it says in Corinthians chapter thirteen

that charity love does not behave itself unseemingly.    in romans one it uses man with man as behavior that is UNSEEMINGLY

and this is HOW I can show the people in churches that gay marriage IS NOT LOVE   .   it just flows so perfect .

I know this was not addressed to me but I would like to put in my 2 cents.  While for the most part I can understand the KJV, but it takes me re-reading some of the verses a few times to work out what is being said.  Where as with the NIV or my Holmes Study Bible, it is most often clear the first time through.  There is nothing wrong with any of that. It is all about what gives you the best  understanding. The KJV is beautifully written.  I prefer the 23 Psalm in KJV over the NIV because of the beauty of the language.

I linked a couple of articles. In them you will find plenty of information regarding taking from or adding to. The culprit here is the KJV - overwhelmingly so.

I had a friend that was KJV only that was really trying to convince me of his position about six years ago. At that time I didn't really care, but started studying the whole issue. It loaded me for bear. I will reference the KJV from time to time, but I consider it to be the least accurate of the more popular versions, the Green JW bible being a major exception.

I'm a big fan of Graham. That's just a minor annoyance. :)

My mother tongue IS English. 20th century English. I suppose if I was raised in a church that was KJV only, I'd feel differently. I became a Christian at age 27. I'm married to no Christian traditions other than those actually in the bible.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
