Hi, how can I have a deeper relationship with God? I've been a christian for 6 years now, and lately things just got messy.. I don't have a clear view of things, so I worry a lot and I don't have everything figured out.. my mind's just not in peace. I feel hopeless. Sometimes, i have a tendency of making a big deal or problem out of things.. I try to read Bible.. anyways, I'm having a hard time typing this

Pls encourage me.. i just need that

Welcome to worthy  :)

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2     He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3     He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

For me, I think it's best to keep things simple in our Christian life and walk.   In the 1970s I read a classic book put out by Moody Press called The Threefold Secret of the Holy Spirit.   That book helped me to keep things simple.  The author's main points were:

1. Have faith with repentance.

2. Have faith with being surrendered or yielded to the Lord (that is, seek to walk with Jesus in our daily lives).

3. Have faith with Christian love.

I hope the above might be of help to you, too.

Maybe it helps you to know your are not alone in this. We all experience this in a greater or lesser way.

The advice is all good, yet I know if you are close to despair, there is little that helps sometimes.

Being alone and downcast is a opportunity for the devil to whisper untruth to us. Just remember that he is defeated and that we are on the winning side even if we do not feel that way.

Think of the Lord in Gethsemane. I can just not imagine how bad he must have felt, so He is quite aware of our failures and shortcomings and trials.

Perhaps the act of helping or coming alongside somebody else will assist you in focusing elsewhere. If we spend too much time thinking about ourselves we might find that that is a dead end street and goes nowhere; and that makes us feel even worse.

Set yourself a wholesome task - small and easy to accomplish. Does not matter what it is so long as it benefits somebody else. Then another, and another. Then see what happens.

Hi,  I want you to know that we have all been where you are.  Don’t feel hopeless, you are on the winning team. One of my favorite verses when I am feeling uncertain is Isaiah 41:10 “Do not be afraid for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Really dig into His word, it will bring you peace.  Praying for you.

We're each a unique creation of God that He meant to reflect His glory in a way unique to us.  One part of this is that your walk with God will be different to some extent than mine or anyone else's.   Different people need different types of prayer times in different places.  For some, prayer is best done in the morning, for others in the evening, for others, throughout the day.  For some, it's best done in a quiet room alone, for others while walking outside, for others, while they are driving to work.   Bible reading and study are the same way.  What works well for one Christian might not for another.  Being with other Christians (whether church, a prayer group, bible study group, or Christian friends) is something that can be different for each of us.   If you try to do things exactly the same way as someone else, it can become draining and tiring rather than empowering, encouraging, and natural.  You need to learn who God created you to be and walk with Him as that unique person.

Ultimately, a deep relationship with God is something that comes with practice and time.  One thing that many Christians miss is that walking with God is more about *being* than *doing*.  It is about becoming who God intends us to be.  It is not about checking items off of a giant to-do list that God has made for each of us.   Such things as fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, etc.) are things that will naturally grow in our lives as we walk with God more and more.

Sins, bondages, wounds, and all those things that encumber us are things that God will deal with in different ways.  Some sins in our lives are due to spiritual immaturity; they'll slowly vanish as we grow spiritually.  Other sins, addictions, or compulsive behaviors in our lives may be symptoms of bondages, spiritual and emotional wounds, and lies that are present in our hearts.  In His timing, God will bring healing, liberation, and truth to deal with those things to free us from them.

Hang in there.  God has started a good work in your life to transform you into the special work of art and treasure that He intends for you to become.  Figure out when and how spiritual disciplines such as prayer, bible reading, meditation and reflection, being with other Christians, ministry, etc. are best done in *your* life.   You are meant to be a special person that reflects God's glory to the world in a way that only you can.  He wants you to walk with Him on a great adventure that is the path of your life.

Pray daily and stay in the Word. That's where communication with God happens. Make sure to make an effort to have that relationship be a daily thing.

Hi Nikki...Welcome :th_wave:

You can be encouraged and secure in the knowledge that Jesus knows you, loves you, and will not forsake you.

Psalm 139 has always encouraged me. It talks about just how well God knows us, which is comforting! He knows how you are feeling right now, and is simply waiting for you to turn to Him. A partial rendering of the Psalm:

1 You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.

------------------------------------------------

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
    How vast is the sum of them!

--------------------------------------------------

23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.

The Lord knows you intimately. He created only one you! Be secure in this knowledge and that He knows exactly how you feel and what you need. Jesus warned us that we would have many troubles in this world. There is nothing you could go through that other believers haven't gone through before you. My all-time favorite bible verse:

Quote

”I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” JOHN 16:33 ESV

So then, Take Heart. Pray. Read the Word. Don't Worry...and...Come back and visit us so that we may encourage you also. We care. Jesus cares. You will be okay! :emot-hug:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
