Good point in the OP.

It also showed how a mean dominating person can sometimes put others under their thumbs, to carry out even an evil agenda...as evidenced by what Anne Frank and her family, and so many others suffered. 1

We often like to think that what has happened in history would never be repeated, that we would act differently than people in times past. We should not be so naive. 1 1

In a forest, the mass of trees help protect one another from the wind and elements, allowing easy growth. Average size, bark, and roots. A tree alone on a hill, subjected alone to the wind and storms will produce thicker bark, stronger limbs, and deeper roots. When the storm comes and the wind blows, it is not swayed with the others in the forest. It is stronger.

It is a beautiful Jackpine that has grown by itself near the top of one of their fields. It’s likely between 60 and 80 years old. 1

God may have me hold my ground by remaining silent in submission to His will, His perfect goal or He may have me move in another manner. I doubt God will have me rise up against authority  even terribly bad authority in a  manner not first directed by Him. God is sovereign in all matters. Stand firm not in what  one sees as much as what one learns guided by the Holy Spirit of God's word the Bible, making application sure in prayer and by thinking.:   "then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.  The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,  and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,  in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Stand Firm But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.  To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.  So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter."
