Sexy photos fire up lust in men so a Christian girl ought not to pose for them especially since you intend to put them online. If you do you are actually causing men to sin. As a man I can tell you we have enough problems with lust just being a male. I'm an older man by your standards and I finally realized I had to do something about this problem. I live in a seaside community where the girls walk around in bathing suit tops during the summer. Several years ago I made a deal with myself to not look at them. But it's not easy and I doubt I could have done this even 10 yrs ago.

Someday if you're married and your husband wants sexy pictures of you then that's okay. But to do it for all the guys with lust problems is a sin.

The Holy Spirit brought this scripture to mind:

"I want women to show their beauty by dressing in appropriate clothes that are modest and respectable. Their beauty will be shown by what they do, not by their hair styles or the gold jewelry, pearls, or expensive clothes they wear." 1 Timothy 2:9

1 john 2:16 says, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

Modeling can foster the "lust of the flesh" and the "lust of the eyes" (in men) that scripture warns about.

In the woman doing the modeling, it is "the pride of life"... a constant battle to remain humble. A constant competition with other models for who can be 'the most ' beautiful. This leads to a bondage with pride.

Scripture says pride is something God HATES. It is on "His big 7 list."

Proverbs 6:16-20 "These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, and he who sows discord among brethren."

So if God hates it, Christians should not support it/indulge in it.

Okay. Just went to check out the 2 mentioned models. (I advise against anyone doing so. Especially you men.)

Definitely provacative photos that no Christian men should look upon and no Christian woman should defend or imitate. Shameful stuff for shameful times. In the last days it will get worse and worse. :(

All the more reason Christian ladies should have nothing to do with this.

Titus 2:5 to be self controlled, pure, working at home, kind and submissive to their own husbands that the word of God be not reviled

Pornography is an evil trap that is wicked. I was once addicted to this. It is of satan and will damn your soul. Don't go down this road.

Hi guys,

I am a Christian, and thus want to do only things that Jesus would be ok with.

I am not sure whether it would be a sin or not to have those types of instagram where people post pictures of themselves looking pretty/sexy/attractive

For exemple of instagram models:

Anna Nystrom, Pamela Reif

Would it be a sin to have this type of account or is it ok?

Don't know if it is a sin or not, but the believer mind has to be on things that is not of this world, or in other words, not conform to the world standards as scripture says. Instagram and the likes are satan playground to attract and keep his consorts.

Romans 12 King James Version (KJV)

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I think it's possible to be a model and not be in sin.

I guess I say this because I get a lot of modest clothing outfit ideas from women on Pinterest. I think there's a difference between showing off how your body looks in a way that will cause men to stumble and posing in photos where the focus is on your face or the clothes you're wearing.

A lot of modest fashion companies use clothing models on their websites. So I don't think modeling always has to be sinful. However, spend some time praying and seeking advice about what's truly modest. Once you have your standard, stick to it. If you feel like you won't be able to stick to it, it'd be better not to be an instagram model.

Naomi hit the nail on the head. Being a model isn't a sin. The sin is in what kind of photos you pose for and the effect they are intended to have on those who view. About 30 yrs ago I worked in the photography industry in NYC. I want to tell you the average fashion model's career is over at around 30 unless you're 1 of the few who become a super model  such as Cheryl Tiegs. It's also a grueling hard job where you can't be late or take many days off. In the field of photography the big wigs want everything done yesterday. A fashion model's life is also wrought with danger. You will have to go to social functions where cocaine will be all around you. They will offer it to you and if you refuse to partake of it you need to be such a charming young lady they won't care. Likewise casual sex will be expected of you. And at most photo shoots the photographer will slowly but deliberately get you to remove your top. At some point you will have to pose topless. Just be sure you don't sign a model release for those photos. By not signing a model release the photographer can't legally sell or publish those pictures he can only keep them in his private collection. All photographers have a private collection. Since I worked in that field if you were my daughter or niece I'd urge you to go into another field.

But as to posing the sin is in the effect the pics have on the viewer. To inspire lust in others is the sin.

Hi JTC,

I think you put it in terms that are too generalizing.

When Jesus talks about that lust, he also covers consensuality or the lack of it in my view.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Mt 5:22 "looketh on a women to lust".
Throughout this passage we don't read of him asking her if she wants to sleep with him... although in his thoughts that's what they did, as the ending of 5:22 shows. For me that's the crux of the matter.

For wedlock, in contrast, is purely consensual: Gen 24:58 (my interpretation).

So please, don't include me when you're talking about men in general.
Rest assured, I don't want to have sex with anyone when I can't be sure of her willingness to have sex with me, too (provided she's not in wedlock, of course...).

Regards,
Thomas

Now, I'd like to answer John, too, since he pretty much says the same as you did...

The Apostle Paul wrote about similar issues involving the eating of meat and of meat offered to idols... and by extension monitoring our personal liberties on the basis of whether or not they cause our brothers and sisters in Christ to stumble. Toward that end, he wrote may I never eat meat again if it causes my brother to stumble (1 Corinthians 8:13).

Hi John,

the Apostle Paul, in my opinion, wrote about liberties that others can't overlook. But is it possible for you to do without Instagram?

Let me give you an example. I have severe money problems in a sense that I can't fully join the leisure program of the church I attend. But my professional failures are my problem, I don't want anyone to pay for it. I work on my professional development and I still join worship & praise, service talking to people afterwards, meetings outside church like small groups and so on. All of which is for free.

And look, I can feel perfectly blessed with social contacts even without joining the expensive meetings... thanks to Jesus!

I'm telling you this, since you might decide not to go on Insagram again to look for these beautiful women?

Reagrds,

Thomas

I'm sorry but what nonsense. My daughter has modeled and works in Hollywood as a stunt woman. While the industry has scumbags for sure, at no time was she forced to do anything against her will. Any photographer who crosses a line with a girl will quickly find himself without a career because the girls will refuse to work with him.

I have two somewhat close friends and that was the case for both of them.....    the longer they were in the business the more they were asked to expose and both dropped out of the business because they refused to take off that much so they stopped getting jobs....   both worked in both New York City and overseas in Europe on occasion.
