What do you think makes a successful post?

Have you ever poured your heart into a post only to have it flop? Or to get little response? And, then you look around and you see these marathon posts that seem to go on and on forever. What makes them last and others drop by the wayside?

What is your idea of a successful post?

Is it the number of responses? Or the quality of responses?

Is it feeling as though you were heard? Or that you got your point across?

Do you count the number of people who read your post but never respond?

Does the length of the post or the paragraph style have anything to do with its popularity?

Are some authors more popular than others?

What do you think are the qualities or characteristics of a successful post?

To me a successful post would present a unique outlook or topic and would accomodate a polite and informed discussion where you would get more than a half dozen of the usual responders involved. It would be a thread were somebody could be observing from the outside and see people meeting together in love and working together for a unanimous resolve. :21:

I think it is when you are honest, humble, teachable, and truly seeking to reflect Christ in all you write.

Blessings.

My idea of a successful post is one that makes actual sense (maybe I should stop writing posts on 2 hours of sleep *grin* ) :21:

Honestly, though, my idea of a successful post is one that is heard and understood, and which makes others stop and think. Whether people agree with it or not isn't so much the issue for me...

I do think that style has a lot to do with how a post is viewed. IMHO, a post should be readable, using grammar and form that is appropriate for the setting. It doesn't need to be something you'd hand in to your English professor, but it should be proper enough that it's not distracting. I know someone at another message board who writes like this (this is part of an actual post):

But,,the initial question you propose is the problem. The Big Answer is an abstract, a Ideal. Its not the answer that Human Kind really expects. Its the CONTINUAL pursuit,,the continual exploration, that is what Human Kind is all for and about. When you think you have all the answers, then you are truelly dead. So, to answer your question, No, we will never know it all,,perhaps even the origins of " all of it",,but thats a good thing...

This guy makes a lot of very interesting and informative points, and I do enjoy debating with him a lot. I just find the way he writes is very distracting, and lots of times I just do not feel like wading through all the random commas, repetitions, and senseless capitalizations. A lot of people just ignore him altogether because of it.

A successful post is a post that:

1.) Makes you really think about what's being said.

2.) That has interesting points, and facts.

3.) That's not too long, because, like me, some people get a bit weary if the post is really, really long.

4.) Is either serious, and thought provoking, heart-touching, or humourous (like the Letters to the Realm Of Last Thread) :21::24::24:

To me, these are the things that make a good, succsess. (how do you spell it again?) :24:

GREAT RESPONSES!! Keep them coming. I'm enjoying them immensely and am learning a lot for when I initiate my next post. We'll see if I listened, huh? :21:

Remember a post doesn't have to be responded to numerous times to be sucessful...if it helps only one person, then it was well worth it. :21:

some times the sign of a successful post would be no responses...

just like some preaching, some times a sermon receives many "A-mens" helping to pump up the pastor, and keep him going strong.

other times, the entire congregation is totally silent, clinging to every word and nary a word is said....

there are times that a post here may receive lots of comments for and against, other times, they may not receive any, or maybe one or two...

the number of responses do not grade the post...... not even the viewing... ( title alone can get some one to open it )

it would be very difficult to know what kind of impact a peticular post has with others, even those that are responding.

some times people respond to things that cause their toes to be stepped on, others will only respond when they feel their own toes are out of the way and do not care about other peoples toes....

as for me, there are times i am lead to post, and other times i am held back from posting. some times i post in disagreement ( not meaning to be mean or obstinant ) ...... other times i post in agreement or in support of... ... alot of times i will post just for fun..... I do not intend to cut anyone down, but I also know where i stand. and who I stand on.... for I am Strong when I am on His shoulders.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
