The stories are absolutely absurd sometimes, but they only prove that God can and will do what it takes to get his Word into the hands of people. Here is a story from our speaker today at church. Our speaker today is involved with the overseas sector of Gideons International. He said he was in the Ukraine not long ago and working with a particular church and the community in getting Bibles out to the people. He met a man with a testimony. It was this - The Ukraine man, like others in that particular town, would have storks make nests on his roof. He said in that particular town, people felt that the storks brought "good luck" and they would not bother the nests - no matter how much of a mess it made. The man in question got sick of the storks on his roof. He was bound and determined to clean it all up. His got his ladder out and began climbing up and cleaning. His neighbor came running out and said, "No! You can't remove those nests! You'll lose all your luck!" The man was not swayed in the least, he kept picking up pieces of nests and putting them in a trash bag. One of the nests had a small piece of paper in it. The man picked it up and looked at it. It was a half of one sheet of a small Gideon New Testament in the Ukraine language. He read it. It contained a portion of Romans 5 - justification by faith alone. He got to the part where it said "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." The man said he just sat on his roof and began to talk to God. "They taught me that you aren't real!!", he said. "If you are real, God, save me from my sins." He was saved a found a church to attend. God said that his Word will not come back to him empty. He'll use a used and empty bird's nest if necessary. And one of his creatures, a stork, to use a half-page from a small new testament to line her nest with. God is not joking around with his Word. Nor is the power of it to be denied. Edited July 22, 2019 by Jayne 1 1 7

A group of Gideons were in a particular prison and wanted to pass out some New Testaments to the more hard-core prisoners. They could meet with milder prisoners, but not the more dangerous ones. But the warden said that he would go with them to the cells, but not open them. They could offer the men a NT, but if they said no, they needed to move along. Some reached through the bars and took one and some did not. One man started cursing and ranting at them through the bars. He refused to take one and they passed by - frightened, they said. They always do a follow-up a few weeks later to see if anyone want to become a Christian, have questions about what they read....etc. The warden took them back through the bad part - again, not opening those cells. The same angry man who scared them before said.... "Hey! You tricked me!!! You tricked me!!!" They did speak this time and said how did we trick you. We didn't give you a Bible. He said, "But you gave my cell mate one. He can't READ! He made me read it to him. And I gave my life to Jesus!" They met with the prisoners who did make a profession of faith several more times. He went back to his motel room and started reading a Gideon Bible; he read all night and couldn't put it down. My husband had previously been like the violent guy in prison, and had torn up my Bibles. After that he started going to church, and 6 months later he prayed and asked God to help him. Joe frequently quotes from his Gideon Bible. 1

Hi Jayne, thank you for that testimony, being a Gideon myself, it is always good to get these "returns" (testimonies) so that just like you and your church have, bring encouragement so that more people can be encouraged in their walk, God bless. 1 4
