Does Daniel 9:26b-27 Prophesy About End Time Events?

If you're talking about the time period of +/- 70 AD., please fit in the abomination of desolation and defilement of the Temple. The person that entered the Temple and declared himself god?

The 1260 Days

Daniel 11:45 And he [the King of the North] shall

1) plant the tents of his pavilion between the seas at the glorious holy mountain…

2) 12:1 And at that time…there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation unto that same time…

Matthew 24:15 Therefore when you see

1) the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place…

2 Thessalonians 2:3 …the man of sin, the Son of Perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called a god or that is worshiped…

These verses describe the events that lead up to and begin an unprecedented “time of trouble/great tribulation,” which tribulation commences with the placing of an abomination of desolation (idolatrous image or person) upon Jerusalemʼs holy mountain.

The passages below describe a time period that follows the Great Tribulation, in which there will be a persecution of Godʼs earthly saints that they must endure for 1260 days.

Daniel 12:6 Until when the end/fulfillment of these wonders?

1) 7 …unto a time, times, and a half [= 3½ times/1260 days];

2) and when the hand/power of the holy people has been completely shattered/scattered, all these things shall be finished.

Daniel 7:25 And he [the Little Horn] shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall afflict the saints of the Most High, and intend to change times and law: and they [the saints/ holy people] shall be given into his hand

1) until a time and times and the dividing of time [=3½ times/ 1260 days].

2) … 21 I was watching, and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them…

Revelation 13:5 And there was given to it [the Beast] a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and authority was given to him [the Mouth/Spokesman] to act

1) forty-two months [= 3½ times/1260 days]. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God…

The Relationship of the 1260 and the 1290 Days

Dan 11 is detailing -Dan 11:2- And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

Dan 12:1 isn't translated well as can e seen in the juxtaposition with the surrounding continuity, but instead (as can be seen in other cases) moves forward to the resurrection before returning to the matters of the closer prophecies laid out in the previous chapter(s).

Now when you refer to Jesus' words about the abomination "in the Holy Place" you truly speak of a prophecy as yet unfulfilled.

The situation in 2 Thes. is, to me, something that takes place right before the outpouring of all of the cataclysms sin Revelation. These begin shortly before the end of a 3.5 yr. period and culminates in the return of Jesus. But I don't believe the tribulation is made up of two 3.5 yr. periods, just one. It looks more like you simply see matching numbers and phrases and determined they MUST be the same period.

Those things are your presumptions, based upon a false understanding of Daniel 9:26b-27. That passage says NOTHING about "the abomination of desolation," which is from a different prophecy, one about the End Times, Daniel 12:11.

Neither does Daniel 9 speak of the defilement of the Temple per se. Instead, it prophesies the destruction of the Temple, which is what occurred in 70 AD, without any abomination of desolation being set up in the Holy Place, because the sanctuary was destroyed by a massive fire during the fighting.

There is no independent End Time prophecy, Old Testament or New, that says the Temple in Jerusalem will be destroyed in the End Times. By these things we can see, if we are not blinded by the traditions of men, that Daniel 9:24-27 is not an End Time prophecy.
