What they once ate-with no issues, now goes to the waist. So they may not be "gluttonous" as in going out and overeating, they just may not be changing their diet like they maybe should. I would say if your pastors biggest problem is being overweight, then both of you are doing pretty good. Perhaps, you should look at whats really going on here-you have a long string of posts all criticizing the church and finding reasons not to go, and they seem to get shallower and shallower. I almost am starting to find his appearance comical. He's taking on the appearance of one of those circus clowns with huge shoes and pants the size of a tent. As others have pointed out, age related factors commonly cause weight gain issues. And as also mentioned, there are medical, medicinal/pharm or metabolic/genetic matters that could be also be a factor in this. Or, as you've indicated, he's just not making attempts at weight management necessities. Addiction is addiction, regardless the substance or supply of the sin. Should he be condemned for that, however? No, certainly not. We are not to be the judge or one to convict. The Lord is who is responsible for godly convictions. With a pastor so obese, and with a large percentage of church leaders following suit, the congregation is getting the false impression that a gluttonous lifestyle is ok. It's not ok. We need leaders who are healthy and strong and who have the discipline to avoid addictions, whether with food or with other substances. I will pray for him. It doesn't matter if someone does NOT drink alcohol or coffee. That someone, needs to keep his or her nose on their own side of the fence and quit noticing and worrying about what every little thing others are doing or not doing! When we do this, it is to make ourselves look better in our own minds and hearts. It is unjustified criticism at its worst.
