Something that's annoyed me recently  about how sonetimes we Christian (or church affiliated people) react to the actions of people  that we don't approvr of.

People become crusaders and go on quests to attack the person in various ways - shaming them , taking people and public bodies not to associate with them etc. Often times  the persons action may not be a sin, just something we disagree with

Case in point

I saw this picture online and it really punched a nerve  with me. I edited it to cover the faces  (whoever posted it had the woman's face clearly displayed w and add the  outer caption.)

Assuming that it  even happened in a church, what gives anyone the right  to put the lady's  face online in a meme to shame her for doing something you don't approve of so people can see who she is and what she did.

We really need to  leave God to handle situations as he sees fit  and but out

No, that dress is not appropriate to wear in church. You realize the Bible tells us explicitly how women should dress in church, right? The word the Bible uses is "modest" apparel (First Timothy 2:9). "Shaming" her publicly? More like making her aware of what is pleasing to the God she wishes to please...

No its not. They put it on a meme  and posted it online. Thats not making her knoe. That's making a public spectacle of her.

Secondly, is she saved?

Is it at a church?

Do they know anything about the woman?

Sometimes  we can  become like the pharisees  in that we get so ultra righteous we can fall into sinfulness by trying to force our concept of it in others.

Way too much time is being spent doing little pictorials of women in ill fitting attire. It seems almost like there is an obsession to do so. If a woman's, or a man's for that matter, attire bothers me I think I would just turn my attention elsewhere and not make an obsessive avocation out of discussing it and encouraging responses about it. I hope that I would think it my problem and that I need change my own focus.

It was pointed out to me several times that you are not supposed to wear socks with sandals.

Well everybody knows that. Peds are dumber yet.

Dumbness always needs pointing out. "Hey Stupid" is a good way to start out. It is step two of the five step program to point out stupidity.

@creativemechanic, I know before I ever click on your threads that I am going to see a cartoon or a photo of a woman dressed inappropriately.   I don't know it you have consciously noticed that, but lots of us here have.  Even if you are making a chastisement of a man - the woman will be dressed in a way she should not be.

Just something I have noticed.

Where does the Bible state with explicitness how long, short, loose, or tight a dress should look on a woman in church?  Where does the Bible say if a dress can be sleeveless or not?

Certainly not 1 Timothy 2.

Paul warns against women wearing three things:

  •  overly fancy hair-dos
  •  gold and pearls [at that time showing off wealth]
  •  and costly, or expensive, clothes

Modesty, according to Paul - in explicit terms - is not showing off your social status or wealth in what you wear to church.  In fact, he says she should be wearing "good works".

A woman should strive to draw attention to Christ, not herself.  But Paul was not and was never talking about "sexy" clothes.  Of course, everyone today thinks it's talking about clothes that turn a man's head.  I'll never convince anyone otherwise and don't know why I am even trying here.

Certainly we know what is appropriate in terms of "how much" clothing a person has on, but Paul does not speak to this.  This is a no-brainer in terms of common sense.

And one more thing that I need to say.

Yes, this dress is too short.  But the average person does not understand that this woman is going to have a great deal of trouble finding a dress that flows over her waist down and fits regularly at the top.  For her dresses to fit properly top and bottom, they are going to have to be made especially for her.

Dresses off the rack will either fit at the top and be skin tight on the bottom or fitting flowingly on the bottom and swallow her whole on top.

This is how God made her, folks.  Not her fault.

She could use some friends - some female friends who would guide her in the area.

Okay. This is a sensitive topic for me due to someone at church  years ago laughing at my cousin for wearing a dress with sneakers to church. We were in our teens and she wanted to go to church with me. She wanted to wear a dress but her dress sandals broke and all she had left was her sneakers.  So she wore them. Then some guy at church laughed at her and make fun of her wearing a dress with sneakers. My cousin got upset and refuse to go back to church until she could get new sandals. I told her to just ignore it but she was hurt and would not go back.   I will never forget that.  So even if I do see someone at church dressed in a way that makes me wonder. I never say anything about it.  You do not know. You do not know that maybe that outfit is the only thing that they had to wear that morning.  Some people need to just shut up and mind their own P's&Q's.

If.....! If for some reason you can not shut up and you feel you have to say something! Then you kindly take the person aside and talk quietly with them and with kindness. Then you offer to help them.  Take them shopping. Help them pick out an outfit. You do not judge. You do not hurt. You do not talk behind their back or make fun of them.  The World is full of unkind, uncaring people who hurt and love to make fun of others. The church needs to not be like the World, and should not treat people like the World treats them.

That is just what I think!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
