In part probably due to the fact it's the tag end of a weekend when shopping is always heaviest. I got what I needed, but they were completely out of: 1. whole milk 2. eggs 3. beans and rice (duh ) 4. bread 5. toilet paper/paper towels 6. canned meats 7. coffee 8. all forms of pasta 9. all non- NSAID pain reliever/fever reducers (plenty of ibuprofen, naproxyn, aspirin) ...paracetamol and acetominophen were all absent 10. sugar 11. flour/cornmeal Limited amounts/choices: 1. Cheeses 2. Low fat/fat free milk 3. half and half 4. canned veggies (very limited -shelves close to bare) 5. Crackers (bread substitutes) Abundant: 1. Fresh fruits and vegetables 2. Meats of all kinds, fresh and prepackaged (hot dogs, sausages, etc) I didn't make a detailed list, those are just the things I noticed. Overall the store was probably less than half stocked.

In the midst of all this though, with this hoarding "fear factor" I'm finding more people listening more intently to the Gospel than before when I'm reaching out to the lost. Keep this in mind as you go through your day even if you have to talk to them from 6' away! For an once of humor, I saw this on the net, it does seem to be the way many are thinking!

Not really, we get sick too. The contagious dead are not something any funeral director faces with anything but extreme caution. It is nerve wracking.

It was the first time out of the house since the 9th. The house is more fun than what outside is like now.

When the panic and hysteria fueled by the media first started the stores were empty, ...but since all of our food comes in on container ships we have a very large supply, so the government went on the TV and told the people to stay away from the stores and the next day after, ...the shelves would be fully stocked again, and they were and it seem the panic and hysteria has stopped. However, ...this is a third world country, we have neighbors that don't have electricity, some have out houses that drain into the gutters (but we "do" have a tree who's leaves are used for TP), ...and some who cook over wood fires. Friday night at midnight our quarantine went into effect for 15 days, with anyone caught on the streets will face a serious fine if they don't have the "correct" paper work with them. This will be a serious problem because the staple of the Tahitian diet is French baguettes, ...for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Today we found a simple three ingredient recipe for bread and we tried it, ...came out quite tasty, so tomorrow we hope to teach the family and neighbors how to make it. The "good" side of all of this is the churches are closed, ...so the pastors are going online to speak to their people, and fortunately it has changed from, they are the "only" correct church, ...to searching the Word to comfort their people, ...I'm seeing a definite change from the usual "pablum" to actually search the Word for something that actually does encourage and give them hope, ...just maybe, hopefully, ...this "pandemic will be the "spark" to start a revival. Praise the Lord! Lord bless and keep all of you... 3 1 1

Sort a 1 lb bag of pinto beans, soak them over night, bring them to a boil for two minutes (I always forget so they boil a few minutes longer), let them cool down in the water for a couple of hours, when you are ready to cook them, pour out all of the water except for 1/2-3/4 cup and add enough water to cover the beans, cook on medium high for a couple of hours, adding "only" boiling water if needed, ...when they are tender pour out the water except for 1/4 cup and mash them with a potato masher, ...my Mexican friends back in the States used lard to make them creamy, ...I've tried Crisco and butter, but it's not a true taste, ...add salt and or hot water if needed to make them more creamy, but be careful, the Lard gives them the "salty" taste. We've eaten the beans like that or have refried them in a frying pan and couldn't notice any significant change to warrant "refrying" them. We freeze leftovers in plastic Ziploc bags and reheat them with adding a little water in the microwave. Enjoy! Lord bless

They wait for a lull in the deaths and then will announce the virus is past its peak. Undertakers will have a field day so buy stock in coffins makers... It is going to be quite GRAVE. The stock ticker is SCI, but look at the volume and the full history. Also consider that each funeral burial or cremation needs to be paid for. Who is around during a pandemic to arrange and pay for the company's services? Look at the number of shorts. If there is a spike in the number of services and they don't get paid for plus there will necessarily be a downward spin following because the people have already died it could become a double whammy no capacity to pay followed by no business of any kind for an extended period of time.
