I think the largest impact to me was my original Church of Christ preacher that after 18 years of attendance told me that our church believes that if a person is not baptized by a Church of Christ member they can not go to heaven....   it was very disturbing so I asked two other CoC preachers I was familiar with and discovered it was unwritten doctrine of our church....    So in reading the whole Bible very carefully for the next three months decided I could not trust anyone to tell me what the Bible was saying.....   It's worked out pretty well...   I never met a preacher that didn't have an agenda or attended a church that I completely agree with in their dogmatic doctrine.....

so I stopped looking for a church and started looking for a group of people attending a church that were kind loving believers and here we are today.    And I question everything our pastor says but I love him anyway and there is very little I disagree with his preaching...   Church doctrine,,,,,   well I can tolerate it.

Wow, I am seeing some names there that I never heard before.

I have not see names like

David Jeremiah    ---  known for prophecy outlines

joel osteen            ----   pastors the largest church in America

Td Jakes                ----   Well known pentecostal preacher

Andy Stanely        ----   Son of Charles Stanely --- He pastors a mega church I understand.

Steven Furtick        ---  Very popular young pastor of mega church

James Mcdonald      ---  very very popular preacher

Does anybody listen to the above.

One pastor that I listen to almost every morning on my way to work is " Insight for Living"  pastor Chuck Swindoll.    IMO, he preaches the word with many wonderful examples and true stories that people encountered .  He presents his sermons that include  humor that fits in well and makes my drive  to work nice.

Ok duff, since you are not speaking, let me explain my post above.  There are many Pentecostals on this forum and I thought surely some of them must listen to those I listed, that's all.   The last section I stated the preacher that has had some impact upon my drive to work meditation.  In my opening post, I mentioned the ones I like listening to and why.

Any you have. Oh wait, I think you don't like churches so you don't listen to any preacher or pastor. Correct me if I am wrong.  :emot-puke:

Actually Dr. David Jeremiah is an excellent pastor, and teaches the entire Word of God, not just prophecy.    However, he is currently teaching on prophecy from the book of Daniel.

I have had some wonderful pastors for many years....was always sorry when they left.    You wouldn't know their names...they were just faithful men of God leading their congregations each week.

I do enjoy Charles Spurgeon and other old time preachers.

Yes, that shaking face says it all. I agree.

The false inclusive unity and the prosperity gospel are “avoid and run the other way, instead run straight to Jesus”.

We must always go back to the bibles and not divert off course, which is what is now happening in these times.

Keep reading the bible and believing in the biblical Jesus. Not the false inclusive unity.

Quite a list of which some I have not heard of before.

One there that I am skeptical about is Francis Chan.  He left the church he founded and moved abroad and said the Lord told him to do so. [that is it in a nutshel]  .

H.A Ironside .  I have read  his work before and all I remember at this time, his name stuck to my mind as impressive.

When I get some time, I will check out some of the ones I never heard before.... Thank for your post

Does that cover it, @frienduff thaylorde?

I think he has a mouth to speak on his own, but I see you are being his brother keeper.   The list I mentioned there, was not necessarily the ones I listens to, but as I said they have huge followings and most likely there are some here that has some impact from their messages.

Your disagreement with those does not mean that those who listens to them have not heard messages that impacted their thoughts.   I myself is not a follower of those listed, but from time to time I would listen a message that is topical to hear the content and it may be something that is controversial ect.

As the saying goes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so whoever a person chooses to get his spiritual strength in supplementary reading and listening to is his prerogative.  I like milk and you may like tea, it's a matter of choice and that's the way it is.

I did not ask for complainers of those who distracted your theology, but Preachers that impacted a believer.   Then again, there are those who feel the pot always need some salt.

Yes, for a few minutes on occasion. Once in a while I check up on the boy and see what his latest antics are. Lately he's becoming even more theatrical and flamboyant. Last time I viewed his Sunday program, he began flailing his arms about so vigorously if gravity wasn't an issue, I think he may well have flown himself to Heaven.
