Accounts of this vary, but the conclusion is solid. Some say no one believed Jesus actually rose from the grave and thus the challenge was an exercise in bolstering their unbelief. Greenleaf accepted the challenge and concluded that the resurrection of Christ is as legally indisputable as Cesar crossing the Rubicon. In fact, there is more historic evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So say this is where Greenleaf became a believer in Christ. I do not take a position on who did or did not believe.
