Little children, let us stop just saying we love people;

let us really love them, and show it by our actions.”

1 John 3:18

You cannot save people;

you can just love them.

Those who don't love people do not love God.

Why are we to love people?

In just stating we should you either assume people know why they should or more likely do not know why we should.

You are being like the BLM protestors who chant this, but have no idea why lives matter.

I used to adore people. To the point I was an easy mark for their abuse.

Now I only tolerate them.

Years of abuse and having one's life and livelihood threatened for simply telling them the truth

(out of love, for pity sake) has soured me on this love people business.

Best I can do for most these days is pray the Lord blesses and keeps them...  far away from me.

Oh I "get along" with everybody.

I hope they (even my abusers / tormentors) come to a saving faith in Christ Jesus.

But that's more about my love for Jesus than people.

Jesus himself said humanity is satanic by nature (Matthew 16:13-23) he reiterated it in John 8:44-59.

Just be careful, folks. Be careful of others, be careful of yourselves... of those you trust... even those in your bosom

Human nature is simply evil and any good that we do through love, kindness, charity are only because of the existence and influence of God

in the universe. Not of ourselves or our nature.  I would also add discipline as we inculcate the tenets of God's goodness into our practices.

Other than that even our [righteousness] is as filthy used menstrual clothes (Isaiah 64:6 Hebrew meaning).

 Love,

JohnD

I think a better formula is to love our brothers and sisters in Christ and have compasion for the lost.

True, we can save no one.
But we can also love them by sharing the good news.
Sow those seeds..........

I would think Who me, that any born again believer in Jesus
would Have a reasonable understanding of why we should love others.
The post reminds us to take what we know, and put it into action.
Perhaps you would bless us with your understanding of why lives matter?

If you think they should know you don't read many forum posts.

Human lives matter for one and only one reason.      We are All regardless of race, give, class or colour, made in the image of God and to abuse or destroy that image is to seek to do that to God.

Similarly the right enshrined in the American declaration of rights and also found in the United Nations declaration are traced only from the Judeo-Christian philosophy of law and morality.

The OT repeatedly calls for the protection of the widow, the Orphean and the foreigner/alien and calls for equal treatment for viruses and noncitizens.

The NT stresses are equality before God and ,again stresses the importance of equal treatment between freemen, slaves, barbarians, and women

This call for equality in treatment and before the law is unique no other religion or philosophy of life has it.

Final point. Jesus died for all regardles of race, tribe, language, class, sex, legal status and we as imitators of Jesus should love everyone as Jesus loves them.   Sacrificially.

Jesus did loved others and the lost.  But did Jesus love the religious leaders that were prideful and teaching a false philosophy?
To some of the comments above, there are the lost, there are the believers, and there are those who do evil. I struggle with those who are citing violence, those that are self-centered and prideful, and those who intend to hurt the poor or others for their own benefit.

I’m not sure that when Jesus directed verbal attacks on the religious leaders that it was out of "compassion". Some of the religious leaders did come around, such as Nicodemus but many did not.

It is not easy to love everyone. For the 1 John 3:18 verse, I will love other believers, I will love those who are gentle and help others, however it is not clear to me that it is also intended to love those who do evil.

I reject your claim jesus loved the lost and I don't recall an instruction for his christian followers to specifically love the lost either or people of the world. In fact I remember Jesus praying for his disciples but Not for the lost.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
