KJV "And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul" (Deuteronomy 10:12)

NIV "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul"

I like the NIV but I want to compare the NIV with the KJV. I see two changes here. We go from "require" to "ask". The other change is we go from: "walk in His ways to "walk in Obedience to Him".

Lets start with the word: "Require" in Hebrew. The first letter in this word is "Sheen" and this represents teeth or to destroy, consume or devour. I am pretty sure when we ask someone to do something there is not this sort of connotation.  The next letter represents Heaven & Earth. Jesus teaches us to pray: Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.  All, everything is based on Earth becoming as Heaven is. The last letter represents the shepherd's staff to guide the sheep in the way they are to go or the way we are to live our life. David was a shepherd and he was a man after God's own heart. The shepherds staff leaves nothing to the imagination to show the sheep what is required. The word of God is to be exact and precise and leaves nothing to interpretation or our imagination. God tells us exactly what He wants and exactly what He expects and exactly what is required. This is like giving people the answers to a test before you take the test. Only we have to have a authorized version. When people say this says this and that says that, which one am I required to follow. Then we can say we are required to follow the KJV. This is what God is going to hold us accountable to do.  If people think this is all a suggestion and not a requirement, then they are in for a rude awakening when their work is tested and they suffer loss.

God is outside of time so He can go back and forward into time. If He wants to. He also has the power not to. "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." (Isaiah 43:25) He not only blots out our sin, He has the ability to remember them no more. In Hebrew this is a reversal, you either remember or you do not remember. There is no gray area in between.

Here is one my favorite verses and sums up what God requires similar to Deut 10:12.   King Soleman with all his wisdom summed up what the most important duty of mankind is:

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. - Ecc 12:13 KJV

Regarding blotting out and remembering sins no more also works same when we turn from righteousness to sin...all you righteousness will not be remembered only your sin.

"But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live. Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live? But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die. - Eze 18:21-24 ESV

I have used those verses often, Jedi. But now more often I use those posted below, slightly more recent.

I use just about any bible I happen to pick up at home to look for an answer to something I'm seeking.
Even though I used KJV from the start 40+ yrs ago,  for all my memorizing, any one will do, to the depth I need to go.
I suppose some have a need to feel they have studied properly only after digging through Greek and Hebrew,
and all the 'scholarly approved' writings, to get to the "God authorized" versions.
I tried that for several years and found nothing that changed my understandings.
I have found, in my studies and especially learning, I know enough to put my learning into action.
I have more spiritual tools/scriptures than I use. I reached a point where I had to put into action that which I put into my head.
I do not look for loopholes for lack of action, nor try to justify it with newly discovered authorized scripture.
There comes a point when I had to leave the class room, graduate boot camp,
put on the armor, stay plugged into the Holy Spirit, and engage.
I am aware I should "
Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"

But for a purpose. God's purpose, and not just for the satisfaction of knowing.
A child with basic scripture verse knowledge can live a Godly life by doing
this below, the two Greatest commandments.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth” (John 4:24).

God only asked for obedience, but it seemed too much to ask for the Hebrew who were taken out of egypt across the Red sea that one generation failed to enter the promised land.

Imagine after all the miracle God did in Egypt n divided the sea, they made a golden calf to worship !

There is obedience in Heaven. The difference here is our Love for God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
