Charlie, where does the Bible say that Adam lost his spirit when he sinned? If no scripture can be found, how can we proceed?

I understand your concern..... not everything is spelled out for us. If you do not mind I would ask we might take this one step at at time and you can tell me if you might agree or not....

1) God created Adam with dirt and His breath of life,

2) His breathing into Adam was not a simple "puff of air" to get him started but so much more.... that is, the meaning of being "made in His image (1:26-27) must be more than dirt and air...... God is not just dirt and air! Nothing tells us the "definition" of "made in His image" is but we do know He is spirit.

3) This is not the Holy Spirit but His "spirit" - a part LIKE God that is unique and not found in any other creature on earth - not even the angels are a "living soul".

Elect, do you want to comment on the above before we go on? Agree, disagree or offer your thoughts on #1 to #3 above?

Charlie

Hi, Charlie.

It is written:

Genesis 2:7 "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Verse 7:  formed. As a potter. Isaiah 64:8

man. Hebrew. "eth- "Ha"adham (with art. and particle = "this same man Adam.”

breath. Hebrew. neshamah. "breath [that is] life".

soul. Hebrew. nephesh. See "life” Genesis 1:20.  Compare Genesis 7:22:

7:22:  All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

In Genesis 2:7, God forms a specific individual man through whom Jesus Christ will come.  The word "formed" is used (molded as clay) to describe the making of Adam. When this  man was formed he became a living creature. In the Hebrew it is "eth-ha-adham", which refers to the particular person "Adam.”

Ok and thanks! Now nowhere do we find this "spirit" being mentioned in those verses.... but what do YOU believe was breathed into Adam - just air or ..?

I will await your response, Charlie

Yes, just air, according to what is written.

Oh, ok! Well then you are in agreement with almost everyone!

If you do not mind can you tell me what, if anything, happened to Adam after he sinned?

Was there a change in him? Did he lose something, or did God just send him out of the Garden in the same way He created him?

I will look forward to your response, Charlie

This is what God said to Adam:

Genesis 3:17-19

17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:

“Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall [a]bring forth for you,
And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.”

~el

Thank you and I agree of course!

But was there a change to or in Adam? Does the comments about God now having to cloth Adam mean something has indeed changed? Charlie

Yes.  He partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and he knew that he was naked, and he was ashamed.

I agree... but that means there was a change in Adam... Meaning Adam had lost something... the only thing he had done was to sin... this sin caused what? God is not just putting animal skins on Adam to keep him warm, right? And also important is that God had to kill an animal (blood sacrifice) to obtain those animal skins to place on Adam...

So, what was now lost in Adam to require all of this?

Adam’s sin caused a rift in his former close relationship with God.

Can you give the scripture that says God had to kill an animal to obtain those animal skins to place on Adam.

Where do you think He got the animal skins? Charlie

Ok. Now we can go back a few posts to my question about if Adam lost something and what might that be?

What kind of animal skin? Is it possible to know?

The scripture is silent and does not identify the animal the skins were made off.

We may conclude that it could not be from a horse or from an elephant or from a camel, or from a lion.

God must have choose to make coats of skins from an animal that will be easy for Adam and his offsprings to make animal clothes for themselves without endangering their lives so the wild animals that need skills to hunt cannot be, skins from camels can not be and we can find reasons to eliminate a lot of animals, but when we consider sheep and we have the info that they had learn to keep sheep according to the passage that tells about Abel who was a keeper of sheep and made a burnt offering unto the Lord.

For Abel to do that he must know how to kill and skin the sheep and he must have learn that from Adam who had learn that from God when he first made Coats of animal skins and dressed them up, not only to keep them warm but at the same time he taught them how to do it for themselves.

So sheep is the most probable animal, and the wool of the sheep it can keep them warm and can lay them down and sleep on them.

It cannot be chicken skin or bear skin, or ....think of something and give the reasons if it could be suitable.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
