On occasion, when the Lord decides, you may experience something really supernatural. I do not say that with any vestige of pride at all, since I have made so many glaring errors in my life that I see it as a God Thing only and it has little to do with me. I was just able to witness a few things.

Very well said, brother. We know that "Our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases." (Psalm 115:3)

When I call myself a "bonehead" this is meant with all sincerity. I was silent for a long time, with so small measure of fear and trembling, for I didn't dare speak (or write) of those things which the Lord was pleased to reveal.

We don't have to worry... the Lord is faithful to bring us low before He lifts us up. Pride has no place in us.  :)

Thank you both for responding. I understand that we must listen to what pastors say, but relating to the original post I’m asking if we don’t believe that those people are truly fainting as they are touched (on TV only) are we denying the power of the Holy Spirit?

No, my friend. Don't be troubled because in this age when the false wax gross many will say, "Here is Christ!" This is a figure of speech which applies to the situation you describe.

As others have shared, you will know beyond a shadow of doubt when the Spirit of the Lord reveals Himself. Consider a bonehead like yours truly. I knew nothing of the Lord, harboring the vague notion that "Surely God exists, though it's impossible for me to know Him," when the His Spirit came to me seemingly out of the blue.

I was changed thereby and nothing was the same again. There was no room for doubt!

Another angle on this topic

Zechariah 7:8 And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

Zechariah 7:9 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

Zechariah 7:10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

Zechariah 7:11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

Zechariah 7:12 Yea, they made their hearts AS AN ADAMANT STONE LEST THEY SHOULD

HEAR THE LAW AND THE WORDS WHICH THE LORD OF HOSTS HATH SENT
IN HIS SPIRIT
BY THE FORMER PROPHETS,

therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
Zechariah 7:13 Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

NOT SAYING THIS IS THE UNFORGIVEABLE SIN, but it feels like it when God will not hear you.

Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

Acts 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed,

the place was shaken where they were assembled together;

and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit,

and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Matthew 10:17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

Matthew 10:18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

Matthew 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

Matthew 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Should you find yourself in this position, make sure you HAVE THIS ARMOR ON TIGHT,  and do not deny the Holy Spirit at this time.

take no thought and use the Lord and Saviours example

Matthew 26:62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

Matthew 26:63 But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

I'll share an experience in the hope that it will encourage you further, @Hopefully

After the Spirit of God came to me as a young man, the Lord moved upon me to start making my way across the country to reach that place where He intended for me to go, a small community of believers in the countryside. Along the way I stopped to visit with different churches thinking to myself, "Perhaps this is where the Lord intends for me to go?"

I was rather naive at this point in my life but little did I know that this naivete served me well! I visited with a church where a "prayer warrior team" called people out to stand in front of the assembly; one of those men would position himself in front of someone while other men would stand behind them. What was this about? How strange.

The man in front would say something loudly, then place the palm of his hand upon their head and down that person would go, caught by the men standing behind them. Wow! They worked their way down the line and the same thing happened every time.

I was trying to figure it out when the man doing the shouting looked directly at me in the back row, commanding me to come forward to be delivered. Delivered? From what? Ah well, I complied with his wishes and stepped out to take my place in a new line that was forming. Really, I had no clue.

It was my turn. The man standing in front of me said something unintelligible and ended it with, "in the name of Jesus!" and thrust the palm of his hand squarely upon my forehead. Okay...

Nothing happened. Was it supposed to? He did it again... and then one more time before the group moved on to person standing next to me. One of the men behind me whispered, "you can return to your seat now."

Heh. Weird!

Yes it performances like this that obscure the real work of the Holy Spirit in Christian life today.

Falling down and other weird behaviours are not recorded in the NT.

When believers were baptised in the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues and went on to enjoy miracles and healings from God by his Spirit. And people were transformed in their hearts and minds and learned of righteousness, love unto others, and good works pleasing to God.

Not all Pentecostal churches are out of order; and my church would not describe ourselves as charismatic.

We operate a prayer line (not just manned by pastors) and people come forward for prayer. There are simply prayers given in English and/or in tongues. No one falls down and certainly no one is slain in the Spirit. People just return to their seats. Some are healed instantly and some are not.

Some twenty years ago my wife was in palliative care, on her death bed. On Saturday my sons and I visited her to say our goodbyes. The next day we went to our Pentecostal worship meeting and went out to the prayer line to pray for Angela. On the Monday Angela came home. I can still remember my mouth falling open and gaping as I watched her walk across the lawn towards the front door.

Many Christian churches teach that the work of the Holy Spirit today is demonic and of false miracles. While the Jehovah Witnesses may be the most vocal in their denunciation of miracles and healings today, they are not alone. Indeed most mainstream churches attack Pentecostal faith and worship as demonic. Not from God.

Even here on Worthy forums many are not shy to denounce praying in tongues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit as fake, false and from the enemy and not of God.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit - attributing the power and work of God in the body of Christ, his Spirit-filled churches, to satan and of devils is blasphemy.

Just a repost from my blog on page two - the sin unto death is to deny and blaspheme the gospel of salvation by impugning the work of the Holy Spirit as being from satan and demons.

And these days many churches accuse Pentecostal faith, speaking in tongues and the working of miracles as not being of God but as diabolic.

I do not believe that these people who are cessationists are blaspheming the HS, because of their sincere beliefs. The Lord knows the heart. Many of His children have differing beliefs around many things and He is not offended by this.

Saying as some do, that they have blasphemed could cause much harm.

This will not be tolerated.

I agree that there is a wide gap in not believing in the power and the gifts of the Holy Spirit today and blasphemy.  Blasphemy would be to say that those gifts and power that the Holy Spirit would chose to impart on someone for His purpose were of the devil. (which some cessationists can take too far and actually do)

I myself am a firm believer in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit, in believers today, it is the promise of Jesus that we would do the things He did and greater because He was going to the Father and the Holy Spirit was coming to us.

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you [c]ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Our relationship with God went from God Above Of (The Father) to God among us (Jesus) to God within us (The Holy Spirit). And to the OP question the sin unto death IS ascribing the work of the Holy Spirit to satan....Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Matthew 12:

24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by [e]Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Let us imagine for a moment a young new believer joining a church in which he is taught that those things are demonic or whatever and that individual repeats what he was taught. Some time later he joins a different group and is told when relating his experience, that he has blasphemed the Holy Spirit,

That individual could be devastated and greatly harmed.

We need to be wise in what we say. I would never under any circumstances tell someone that---ever. And I have seen and heard a great many things in my life.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
