How are children a blessing?

What if theyre born in unfavorable circumstances? Like born to abusive parents, in poverty or to addicted parents or if they have health issues themselves? 

I just want to understand that verse.

All children are a gift from God. It all depends on the parents who have conceived this child. God hates abuse.

Answer: The Scriptures are very clear that God is present in the creation of every human life. The most vivid depiction of this is seen in Psalm 139:13-18. The fact that God sovereignly superintended David’s creation caused him to praise God. David also pointed out the fact that God had the details of his life planned before eternity. In Jeremiah 29:11 God confirms David’s thoughts: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Of course, this brings up a very good question. What about those conceived out of rape or illegitimacy? The parent or parents that are responsible for that child may not "feel" as though that child is a blessing from God, but how that child was conceived does not mean that God did not sovereignly superintend its formation in the womb as David speaks of. God has a plan and purpose for every person born regardless of how that birth came about. If this were not so then the Scripture would not have said so. In the New Testament, we read that God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us (John 3:16).

This love is the same love that compelled the Savior to teach the disciples God’s Word and to demonstrate God’s love for us through His death and resurrection (1 John 4:7-8). There is no end to how much God loves us and desires to bless us. The intention of God in the creation of man was to have fellowship with Him. First John 4 tells us that once we recognize this, it enables us to love others. Whether we view every child as a blessing from God depends on how much we see that child as God sees him. When we look at each child through the eyes of God, there is no question that every one is a blessing from Him. If we look at that child through the eyes of sin, then we would doubt that blessing because we focus on the creature and not the Creator.

It is God’s plan and desire that each child be born according to His plan for us and that is through marriage. When that does not happen, it does not exclude the fact of God’s love and care for the child. David concluded in Psalm 139:17 that God’s thoughts for His people were indeed precious and innumerable. The most practical application of this is seen in the lineage of Christ in Matthew 1. All through the names, we recognize those who failed in life in some way and see those who were born of illegitimacy and sin. This did not disrupt the fact that God’s Word was fulfilled and brought the blessing of salvation to man.

"Unfavorable circumstances" are not a blessing.  But the child did not create the unfavorable circumstances.  The child is a blessing.

Abusive parents are sinful and defy God by turning away from him and the loving nature he built into us which is an image of the powerful love between the Father and the Son.  The child did not cause this abusiveness.  The child is an innocent and pure blessing to parents who have fallen to depths.

Addicted parents are caught in a trap that this world has set for them.  An addicted mother can pass many ailments to an unborn child.  Addicted parents can't properly care for their children.  So we should try to help them.  The child did not cause the parents addiction.  The child is a blessing.

Poverty has always been a problem in this world and always will be until Jesus returns.  These are the people that Jesus calls on us to help.  Poverty has many causes, but it does not prevent love between parent and child.  Children do not cause poverty.  Children are a blessing.

If you are saying that the world is an imperfect place, I couldn't agree more.  But children are not cause of the imperfection.  They are a source of joy and love in an imperfect world.  If anyone tries to justify abortion as some kind of caring act to avoid bringing a child into a fallen world, they have been deceived in the worst possible way.  Murdering the innocent for the sins of the guilty is about as wrong as it gets.  Murdering our own children is not an answer, it is an abomination to Almighty God.

The execution of one man for our own sins, and the sins of the world was rightly done once by a man named Jesus.

He was not a child, and certainly not an unborn child.  He was a man.

He was not just a man.  He was and always will be the Son of God, Immanuel, God with us.

Because he was all God and all man he made the fully informed choice to lay down his own life which is denied to unborn children who are ripped in pieces from their mothers wombs.  Abortion rivals crucifixion as the most barbaric form of execution in the history of the world.  In many ways it exceeds it.

May God help us to turn this world from it's wicked ways.

What does their birth circumstances have to do with it? It's the kids that are the blessing to the parents. And sick kids can bless parents just as much as well ones.

It's very simply. Children are given by the Lord as a blessing to parents. Whether parents avail themselves of that blessing is, in a sense, their decision. Nonetheless, they are intended to bless.

What you seem to be suggesting to me is that PARENTS aren't necessariy a blessing.
