I agree strongly with this. I get annoyed with people with a "I'm saved so I don't have to do anything else" attitude. Drives me crazy. If God is working through you should produce good fruit after all.

Not sure how this explains why paul and James appear to be contradicting each other. Can you explain?

“My brothers and sisters, if a person claims to have faith but does nothing, that faith is worth nothing. Faith like that cannot save anyone. Suppose a brother or sister in Christ comes to you in need of clothes or something to eat. And you say to them, “God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat,” but you don’t give them the things they need. If you don’t help them, your words are worthless.

Sounds like we agree,  they do not contradict each other

This is just replying to the thread itself not to anyone in particular, but perhaps Paul's comments on receiving the grace of God in vain (and using his labours as evidence he did not) is somewhat touched upon by James who is addressing "the O Vain man" as it pertains to faith (seeing that its by this faith we have acess into the grace laboured by). In both places it adresses what is vain, and we know its not by works (but by faith) and "unto good works" but the grace itself is for the obedience of the faith and also the grace of God in Paul which performed the labours Paul boasted about. Always acknowledging the evidence itself (the works) but where the credit belongs (which is not with him) but Gods grace. So as Abraham had wherof to glory (when it come to works) he could not do so before God because the effectual of Gods grace is what should be lifted up.

Blessed St. Paul only ever seems to contradict blessed St. James.
