My view of tongues, prophesying and healing for today is not a popular view. That is where the Holy Spirit is leading me.

Sadly, Christianity is no longer a popular view with the world either.

If you mean Cessationism, it's a very popular view amongst certain types of denominations - the powerless type.

The preaching of the gospel is supposed to be accompanied by signs following - signs pointing to the fact that the Kingdom of God is within us and we are not all mouth and no power.

The Holy Spirit never, ever, ever leads people to doubt the word of God, which tells us that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today.

Mark 16:14-20 (WEB)

 14  Afterward he was revealed to the eleven themselves as they sat at the table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they didn’t believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
  15 He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation.
  16  He who believes and is baptised will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.
  17  These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages;
  18  they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

  19  So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
  20 They went out, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.

John 14:12 (WEB) Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

Rom. 12:4-8 (WEB)

4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function,
  5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
  6 Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;
  7 or service, let us give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching;
  8 or he who exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with liberality; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

1 Cor. 12:1-11 (WEB)

1 Now concerning spiritual things, brothers, I don’t want you to be ignorant.
  2 You know that when you were heathen, you were led away to those mute idols, however you might be led.
  3 Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God’s Spirit says, “Jesus is accursed.” No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” but by the Holy Spirit.
  4 Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

  5  There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord.
  6 There are various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all.
  7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.
  8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;
  9 to another faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit;
  10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages.
  11 But the one and the same Spirit works all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.

You think that tongues, prophesying and healings by christians  are for today. That is your opinion. Suit yourself.

It's not my opinion, it is what the Bible states, as I demonstrated in my previous post.

We are not supposed to suit ourselves, but to believe what the Bible says.

It is really sad to hear that some believe in the cessation of spiritual gifts and manifestations. People are missing so much if they take that view and if they teach it to others, that is a real shame...

"Cessationism versus continuationism involves a Christian theological dispute as to whether spiritual gifts remain available to the church, or whether their operation ceased with the Apostolic Age of the church. The cessationist doctrine arose in the Protestant Reformation, initially in response to claims of Roman Catholic miracles."

The signs and wonders are few and far between as far as the unbelieving eye sees and the unbelieving ears hear.  But give the unbeliever a disaster in their life and all of a sudden they are either cursing the God they do not believe in or they are seeking the God they do not believe in.

That is often the case. As a corporate body of believers, we should take responsibility.

I know that I have not always done my best in this regard, and like Daniel, I feel the need to confess the sins of my countrymen and realize my part in it all.

People really do need God, and they need us to show Him to them more often than we do. It is not often how we feel, but out of duty we should do this more often. At the best of times God acts in spite of us rather than because of us.

@Justin Adams Covid has put a big damper on my ability to witness and interact with others both in and out of the church.  I ache for the days of being in the fruit and veggies section of the grocery store talking about the Lord.  I miss the smiles of all of the people. I miss the hugs.  I miss all of the physical connections that covid has taken from the world.

Pentecostal revival - especially in third world countries abounding in much poverty and often also witchcraft and dark religions - succeeds with great power as pastors are able to cast out demons and witchcraft from people and their villages enslaved to this cursed fear of witchdoctors and shamans.

The miracles and healings reveal the true power of God and the gospel and truly sets captives free. People's lives instantly prosper and revenge tribal killings cease, along with casting out narcotics and home-made liquor.

In my name they shall cast out demons, they shall speak with tongues, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

God knew that the enemy has control of this world with many terrible religions and faiths and that for the gospel to compete with the plethora of alternative religions then the gospel would need to prove itself as the true gospel of God our Saviour. Even Jesus did many miracles and healings and raised the dead to demonstrate his authority and the truth of who he was to his own people.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
