Maybe some more detail concerning what to "do something," means? For example, when the church service has ended, offering to help clean up should not be a "waiting" on God to do this type of "something." Also, something to consider. Each person has abilities and skills and to offer these by volunteering for events or various positions may also be "something" where waiting is not needed in effort to "do" something at church, work, community, etc.

Should we wait on God or as some say "You can't steer a parked car."? I think that is question with a difficult answer. We should always be walking with God - in constant prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17). But it takes time learning to understand what the Lord is saying to us. When we are in contant prayer, we have an idea of what the Lord wants and what he doesn't want. From there we use our best judgment.

This would be one of those A.S.K. scenarios as follows: Ask - and you shall receive (Warning, Yes/No, Stop/Go, Either/Or, Free choice) Seek - and you shall find (information, confirmation, affirmation, revelation, motivation, faith) Knock - and the door shall be opened unto you (opportunity to grow spiritually)

However in most instances it has been my experience that if God doesn't want it done, I will fail to get it done. And at that time I simply say OK and go on to something else. and occasionally he has me do things that I really would perfer not to do..... but in my 74 years I have learned not to say no and just do it.

The person needs to seek in Christ what is His will (through prayer) and, then, proceed to do what He enjoined us.
