Let us all keep Galatians 5:26 through 6:14 in mind.

"For he that sows to his (own) flesh   (therefore flesh belongs to self)
shall of the flesh reap corruption:
but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
Galatians 6:8

And they that belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.

'They' 'have' 'crucified'; so it is something we do, by the "self-control" [Gal 5:23]
granted to us by the Holy Spirit.

The self is a creation of God so when the Bible speaks of selflessness, crucifying the self, and not being selfish it should be understood in light of the self being a creation of God's by which we love others and the Spirit "fruits" us to control.

Can you explain what you mean....self being a creation of God’s, by which we love others and the Spirit “ fruits” us to control.

Control what?

Of the self being a creation of God’s by which we love others and the Spirit ” fruits” us to control, have you got scripture for that please?

its the and the Spirit “ fruits” us to control....I have no idea what that means.

The human race was created by God, but not all can  love ,they are unregenerate cut off from God, alienated from him.so not sure what you are trying to say here.

if you reply to my post, please try and make it as short as possible.

Perhaps Josheb believes in two crucifixions, one for the old man and one for the flesh. I cant really make sense of his beliefs.

Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. 19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, 20 idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who [h]belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well. 26 Let’s not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

We are to allow Christ to be in control of our lives, not our self.  Self becomes evil when self is allowed to  take God's place in being the lord of our lives.  We are to deny self and allow Christ to control our lives.  When the Spirit of God moves into our souls (selves) He works with our spirits to communicate with God and direct our lives.  We deny our own wishes to yield to God's wishes.  Nevertheless not my will but Thine be done.  Self without Christ can be very evil.

Heleadethme,

You have trouble with the things I post and the manner in which I do so. Are you sure you want to engage my posts? Historically, doing so has prompted you to bring up things like interrogations and courtrooms and appeals to the Holy Spirit in opposition to God's word and a disdain for my noting it all. Are you sure you want to engage what I posted?

I was being rhetorical. I doubt anyone took me literally (except maybe you). I'll go back and stick in an emoticon or two.  And your post, once again, completely failed to address the issue. AND you've posted exactly what I posted: the old man, not the self, is crucified. The flesh, not the self, is crucified. Notice all the passages you cited speak in the past-tense of "crucified." You've posted the exact same passages I did. Thanks for verifying my posts. Why is my post "pretty intense" and not yours? Does it matter if what we posted is God's truth?

I'm fairly confident Whyme can explain his own posts, so how about we let Whyme explain why the title of the op is different than the opening post? Yes? I trust everyone understands the solution is very simple and easy: just change the word "oneself" to "flesh" or "old man" (or both ).  Yes?

No intensity required.

.

No need to change it.  The bible uses such language so it's good enough for me.   Reckon ourSELVES dead.  No longer "I" who live.  Deny yourSELF.   Now if anyone wants to parse or flesh that out further, then fine with me as long as they do so in a manner that is not hurtful to others.  As believers we love the truth, but nobody wants to be nailed to the wall with it or beaten black and blue by it.  When that goes on the speaker just loses my ear.  If we love the truth the first place we will apply it is to ourselves, and thankfully the Lord is merciful and gracious when we do that, because He is against the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Yes, it's a done deal ("it is finished") as well as that we are taking that ground little by little at the same time.   Satan has been defeated but we are in a process of enforcing that truth in our lives for Christ.   All things have been put under His feet, but we do not yet see all things put under His feet (I believe this has personal application, as well as historical in the future sense).

Exo 23:30

By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

Deu 7:22

And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
