If you think so........I still don't believe drug use was condoned by any means

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You might consider that alcohol's classification as a drug is a relatively recent thing. It's fine with me if you'd like to abstain from alcohol using that as a justification, but then you'd also better stay clear of caffeine and Tylenol while you're at it. I don't believe that everything under the "drug" category is sinful if used in moderation. "Illegal narcotics" is a completely different story.

P.S. Caffeine is not only contained in coffee and pop, but in chocolate, and any tea that does not have the label "caffeine-free" at the grocery store. (if you buy it loose, like I do, ask an employee of the store)

If you make grape juice and leave it alone in the climate of Israel it will turn to wine in about a half hour.

Everyone drank wine because they couldn't trust the water. Those verses speak against the abuse of wine.

Just like the verses about gluttony speak to the abuse of food.

hope that helps...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Do you think the weather patterns today in Israel are exactly the same as they were back then?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You mean you think grapes grew year round that there was no seasons? Even a cursory look at the Bible will tell you that isn't so.

Let ne ask you Rob, what was Jesus blessing the L-rD for that was in his cup?

if you don't refrigerate it it doesn't matter. About like milk it would have to be below 45 degrees or it makes wine or vinegar depending on whether or not you have it in controlled conditions.

I don't have a problem with you feeling like that, as long as you don't go around condemning others who drink sensibly and don't sin over it.

Mar 7:15  There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

Mar 7:16  If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

Mar 7:17  And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

Mar 7:18  And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

Mar 7:19  Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

Mar 7:20  And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

Mar 7:21  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Mar 7:22  Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

Mar 7:23  All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

If the wine drinking causes a person to commit any of the above offenses then this wine-drinking has become sin. Otherwise, it is not sin to simply drink wine.

Those with a propensity for addiction are wise to avoid wine altogether.

As a matter of fact, I choose not to drink alcohol at all, except for on very rare occasions (glass of champagne at a wedding, etc.) so that I don't offend a host or come off as "holier than thou."

I find that a lot of Christians fall into the extremes on this issue.

Either they are way too lenient and drink too much. Or, they are so anti-alcohol that if they hear about a Christian enjoying a drink they brand them a sinner and hypocrite.

Remember:

Rom 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If God expects us to be a peculiar people and not of this world why worry about whether someone thinks that you "think" that you are "Holier than thou"? This is one extreme I'm in support of 100%. Wine/Alcohol is considered a drug and even a little bit doesn't take away from that fact.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Because I think a glass of champagne during a toast at a wedding is entirely appropriate.

At my wedding we only served sparkling cider, so it wasn't an issue. But, if I was at someone elses wedding I would not hesitate to celebrate their wedding with a toast.

Regarding the drug analogy... so, I assume you've never taken Tylenol, Advil, Sudafed, etc? Correct?

what in the universe are you talking about?

It is a very cultural thing.

Yeshua had at least 4 cups of wine every Passover...and probably at least a glass per day. Are you judging Him?

They didn't call Him a winebibber because He walked around with an Evian bottle

America is the only place on earth that I know of where we have a problem with Jesus and the Biblical characters drinking wine. Drinking wine is acceptable in almost every other culture in the world...and history proves that they [ancient Israel] drank wine like we drink pop today. You couldn't drink the water or anything else because it would make you sick.

Gotta love having Puritans as founders...

Hey Iryssa. Look at some of the SOF of my church and you'll see that we don't use caffeine in any form, alcohol, tobacco or anything that will hurt the body. Thanks for your concern. :noidea:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
