So are we to keep the Saturday sabbath? If not are we sinning and on the way to hell??

Yes we are to keep the 7th day Sabbath (Saturday) which in our bibles is the only day of the week that has a name. It is not a salvation issue, it is a blessings and cursings issue. I know I going to cop flack for that. The same instructions will bless you if you live by them and curse you if you don't. Deut 28 is quite clear. Yahweh and His word does not change. They all kept the Sabbath in Yeshua's day and yes so did Paul. Clearly shown throughout Acts. This was decades after Yeshua's death and resurrection.

Shalom

John 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Matthew 27:50  And Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.
51  And lo, the veil of the temple was rent in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook; and the rocks were rent;

Hebrews 10:19  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holies by the blood of Jesus,
20  by a new and living way, which he dedicated for us, through the veil, that is, his flesh;
21  and having a great priest over the house of God;

The gospel is not about Saturdays anymore.

Heb 8:13  In that He says, "A NEW COVENANT," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

The 7th day folks simply obey the 10, not the 9!

Charlie

So then come judgment day, you will be judged by the law?? And not covered by the blood of Jesus?? Have you been keeping all 10 perfectly the whole time? (In thought, word,and deed) I thought that's what Christ Jesus came to fulfill. Since we as sinful natured humans can't do. That's why I trust in Jesus' sacrifice...right?!? What am I getting wrong here??

Read all of this in a friendly tone because that's how I mean it. Just asking questions

What am I getting wrong here??

Read all of this in a friendly tone because that's how I mean it. Just asking questions

hope I can provide an acceptable response.

First, the 10 were given by God to Moses so they would understand (as best as man possibly could) the character of God. They reflected His Holiness and a standard so far above what any man could fulfill. God wanted His people to obey them fully knowing man could not keep even one of them perfectly even for a day. However, He would also give them the 7 feast days where the most important was the Day of Atonement. He knew they needed a way to remove or cover their sins while on this earth. Each year they would honor those feast days and continue to try and obey His commandments. Jesus would arrive on this earth the exact time that was prophesied in the Scripture. He would show the Jews what it looks like when someone is capable of obeying the 10. Remember, He can NOT to do away with the commandments but to FULFILL them - meaning to show man He would and could keep all of them every day while on earth. Also, remember the 10 were not given to Moses by Jesus but by the Father (Elohim, although they are one and the same). But Jesus repeatedly said that He  would only do those things His Father wanted Him to do and say. Everything Jesus did was from His Father meaning He would NEVER disobey any of His Father's commands (10). As a result  of the Cross,  Jesus would now make it  possible to be saved FROM our failure to obey the 10 by believing He is the Messiah and our Lord and Saviour. As Paul has written in the NT books, this in no way means we don't have to concern ourselves with the 10 because Jesus already paid the price - we can not do as we please and then show up with a 'I believe in Jesus get out of jail card'.

If anyone does not accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, they will be accountable and personally responsible for their sins - they will be judged by the Law. However, those who placed their faith in Jesus will not be judged by the 10 commandments. Whether before or after the Cross, man is utterly incapable of keeping ever one commandment as God requires, but Jesus would send His Holy Spirit to each and every one  of us who ASKS and He will help us to keep them.

So your comment above is quite perfect... we can not keep the 10..... If Jesus did away with the 10 then EVERYONE, Jew, Gentile, Muslim, Hindu, etc., could never be judged by the 10 commandments.  And if sin (10 commandments) were "nailed to the Cross", there would be no sin, no consequences to anyone for disobeying any one of them. No, they are still just as solid and permanent as they were when God carved them out of rock on Mt. Sinai.

Now specifically, I think this discussion focused on the 4th commandment - the keeping of the Sabbath. There are SO MANY REASONS to treat the Sabbath in the same way as God created it on the 7th day. There was no Jew or Greek at that time.. so it is not a Jewish command. The Sabbath was made for MAN not the Jews - God even created another day just for it - He put it on His calendar... He did not need to create another day.. but this is the ONLY DAY HE GAVE A NAME TO - THE SABBATH while all the other days were identified as numbers - 1 to 6. They are ALL common days in His eyes, ONLY the Sabbath was created as a HOLY DAY. And throughout the Scriptures, there are enough verses / scenes where man treated something Holy as common and vice versa. (Aaron's two sons were immediately killed for bringing common fire rather than HOLY fire). Man does NOT have the ability to make ANYTHING HOLY - THAT BELONGS TO GOD ALONE. Of course, this was prophesied in the book of Daniel, where the beast would THINK to change times and laws - this was a direct reference to the Sabbath when the RCC thought they had / have the power and authority to change the only Holy Day of the week..

God did not change or do away with His character (10 commandments),  He just sent His Son to pay the price for our sins. Once again, if Jesus did away with any once of the 10, He would not have to be crucified - He would declare there is no more commandments, therefore there is no more sin... enjoy yourselves! I will come back in about 2,000 years and pick EVERYONE UP - Muslim, Hindu, etc.

Sorry for the run on.... but please let me know your thoughts - either way! Thanks, Charlie

Yes we are to keep the 7th day Sabbath

No one keeps the Sabbath. I had a friend that was a 7th day adventist. He would park his truck and did not drive for 24 hour, but when he got hungry he would go to a restaurant and eat. This required others to break the Sabbath by working. John Wesley believed we can live free from sin but even people who embrace the holiness movement do not believe they can live a sin free life.

I thought that's what Christ Jesus came to fulfill.

Jesus came to set an example for us. The Grace of God is an active force in our life to deliver us and set us free from corruption and bondage. God is redeeming and restoring and He begins with us to do a work in our life. Even in Psalm 139:16 God writes the book of our life before we are even born. He declares the end from the beginning. The things that are not as if they were. He watches over His word to perform and to do what He ways He is going to do in our life.

God always encourages me to live the life He is calling me to live and to be the person He is creating me to be. He never gets mad at me and He never threatens me. He just encourages me that we can be free and live life to the fullness that He intends for us to live. God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We are the ones that benefit when we live the way He wants us to live. Because of His love for us - He wants what is best for us. David explains all of this in the Psalms.

“Can following the law give us the blessing God promised? If we could receive it by following the law, then it would not be God’s promise that brings it to us. But God freely gave his blessings to Abraham through the promise God made. So what was the law for?

The law was given to show the wrong things people do. The law would continue until the special Descendant of Abraham came. This is the Descendant mentioned in the promise, which came directly from God. But the law was given through angels, and the angels used Moses as a mediator to give the law to the people. Does this mean that the law works against God’s promises? Of course not.

The law was never God’s way of giving new life to people. If it were, then we could be made right with God by following the law. But this is not possible.

The Scriptures put the whole world in prison under the control of sin, so that the only way for people to get what God promised would be through faith in Jesus Christ. It is given to those who believe in him. Before this faith came, the law held us as prisoners. We had no freedom until God showed us the way of faith that was coming. I mean the law was the guardian in charge of us until Christ came. After he came, we could be made right with God through faith.

Now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law to be our guardian. You were all baptized into Christ, and so you were all clothed with Christ. This shows that you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Now, in Christ, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or free, male or female. You are all the same in Christ Jesus. You belong to Christ, so you are Abraham’s descendants. You get all of God’s blessings because of the promise that God made to Abraham.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:18-19, 21-29‬ ‭

Christ did not come to do away with the law, but followers of Christ naturally do what the law wants.

“So do we destroy the law by following the way of faith? Not at all! In fact, faith causes us to be what the law actually wants.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:31‬ ‭

Here is a prophecy concerning the coming Messiah and the Spirit-filled Christian

Psalm 40:6  In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.
7  Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me:
8  I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”

Galatians 2:15  We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners;
16  yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

Galatians is the epistle to read that explains the doing away of the Law of Moses and how Christians are to live by faith in Christ Jesus.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
