My mom told me that valentine's day is about St. Valentine--> https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine

And we celebrate the encouraging of other Christians on that day.

Hi ghosty just managed to catch up on this ( a month is a LONG time to be without internet )

Herein Wales we have TWO " valentine " days as there is also a Welsh version in January .. I dont celebrate either as far as I am concerned if you need a special day to celebrate love you are a sad person HOWEVER  if it is a day that helps others to show love that they sometimes are too busy or too forgetful to do then at least we can celebrate the fact that someone will be happy :emot-highfive:.  I know oo has psoted a photo of the flowers he gave his wife BUT I also know he sends her flowers often and always remembers to tell her how much he loves her and show her that love in more practical ways too  ( she is a very fortunate lady and he is fortunate to love her )

I dont "do " cards as the money spent on them can be used in much better ways ( my grandchildren know I love home made cards if they must give them NOT shop bought ones ) so I am very glad that even if only for that day YOUR home made video gave someone pleasure and joy :emot-hug:

Having said that the only cupid I would like to see back here is enoobs cupid cos that would mean he is posting again :th_praying:

And the next tie you say the word  " HATE "  you had best stop and think how much better it would be to turn that frown upside down :foot-stomp:

Your mom was wrong.

And even if she were that does not mean we cannot take captive every thought that sets itself up against Christ. Make it Christian! Subject all ideas, godly or pagan, to the sovereignty of Christ crucified and resurrected. We love because He first loved us and it is foolishness to ignore that truth. Pagans are foolish when they deny God. That is just as true of Valentine's Day as it is of any other day. Consider this: one of the things satan and the word love to do (pun intended :o) is to tear down and besmirch godly people doing godly things. I'm not a big fan of making people "saints" as the RCC and EO but it's a cr@ppy thing to tear doing the godly. The Church divides over such machinations because of an unfamiliarity with the ways of the enemies.

When a society sets aside a day to honor the valuing of those important in our lives there is no reason we should not exploit that opportunity for Christ. "Love" is just a specific word we use to label a specific kind of value we have for another. When we say, "I love you," we are supposed to be communicating, "I value you in a manner I do not value anyone else," and....... "there is nothing that can take away the value you have in my life."

It begins with God.

NOT some saint who live hundreds of years ago.

And most definitely not in the offices of Hallmark marketing.

Whose are you?

Who are you?

YOU are adopted sons and daughters of The Most High God!

Act like it.

Stop letting things like Valentine's Day decide who and how you love.

Amen. What else can I possibly say to this?

My poem about consumerism aside --- cards, flowers, and dinners are just cards, flowers, and dinners after all --- love is indeed something we do each and every day. It is entirely worthwhile to remember who we are and most importantly, to whom we belong.

The entirety of the Law and the Prophets rests upon love.
This salvation, the gift of God given even when we were dead in our trespasses, is all about love.
The discipline of the Lord, delivered to those of us who have received the adoption as son and daughters of the living God, is an expression of His love toward us.

This is an excellent word, Josheb. Take captives and subject those captives to the Lord. Always! Amen.

I'm sorry to hear that you found it horrible. 😔 I believe that it would have grieved George Müller if he had been alive when you grew up.

I'm glad to hear that you have found help from the Lord, though, as He is so full of Love and compassion. 😊 May He bless you and keep you in Himself to the end!

As the child I was never over fond of Valentine's day.  The teacher had us get packs of the cheap cards and pass them out to each student in the class.  I found it a chore.  I have never been much of a one for cards.

That being said, we should be showing agape love to our brothers and sister in Christ every day.

I have the concept of hating a holiday a little strong.  We can use that day as an opportunity to share God's love.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
