Why are we so concerned about getting wealth?

•    Pro 20:23 -> “Different kinds of weights are an abomination to the LORD, and a false scale is not good.”.
•    Pro 20:10  -> “Different kinds of weights and different kinds of measures, both are an abomination to the LORD.

I know that it is difficult to get rid of the power of the money. Although Jesus promised this in Matthew 6:33, unfortunately, until now, I wasn’t able to live without money (and I don’t know anybody that reached this promise).

Nonetheless, we need to persist on believing that the righteous lives, not by money, but by faith in Jesus (Hab 2:4; Rom 1:17; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38).

Believe: without Jesus’ blessings, not even all the money of the world will enable us to procure what we really need: love, peace, elation, salvation. So, instead of fearing to run out of money, fear to sin, coping with people with justice:

•    Eze 45:10  -> “You shall have a just balance, a just ephah and a just bath.

Remember: the job is to help people around us (Eph 4:28); our maintenance is from the Creator.

Therefore, don’t act like Israel’s people:

•    Hos 12:7  -> “He is a merchant; the balances of deceit are in his hand; he loves to oppress.
•    Amo 8:5  -> “Saying, "When will the new moon be gone so that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small and the shekel great, and perverting the balances by deceit;”.

Have a good day being greathearted and seeking the fulfillment of the promise of Matthew 6:33:

•    Pro 11:25 -> “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”.

I think it's called the survival instinct, that everybody has, instilled in us by our creator.
Even beans are not free, nor the seeds to grow them, nor a place to plant them.

Wealth ; "plentiful supplies of a particular resource(s)"

It’s unfortunate that so many people only feel validated and affirmed by the amount of stuff they own. I used to be a little obsessed with online shopping, and it always left me empty after that initial purchase. It was fun but the feeling went away quickly and I’d be wondering after a few weeks, why did I buy that? :(

I’m grateful for my faith that grew deeper during the past two years, because I’m just free now and not seeking money and things to bring me happiness.

Thank you for posting such an uplifting thread!

default_thumbsup.gif.f1d5bc7e735e008870f34f251f0360da.gif  Understand....

Impulse buying! When I got married I discovered credit cards, and my new wife had two. After a few years of our balance at the limit, we  decided to cut them up and go back to cash and carry. We remembered when we pull out those greenbacks to pay, what it took to earn them. Only use debit card now, a business necessity, and even then it is too easy to satisfy that impulse purchase, so I usually leave the web site and come back and reconsider. That helps. (Totally debt free now for many years.)
Because I'm cheap (frugal) though, it's still hard for me to pass up a bargain... (mostly tools)

All the Lord has given us here on this earth we are to be a stewards. The bible tells us to manage our affairs. If we don't have the oil in our cars changed the engine will fail very early, if we don't change the air filter in our heating/cooling system it will not be as efficient. If I fail in my family responsibilities my family will suffer. If I don't study the word as a believer it only hurts me.

If we don't have enough income to meet our expenses we either need to earn additional income of cut our expenses. Even if we have enough income a good manager will look for ways to further cut expenses or possibly increase income. If we have investments in bad places we should seek to move those investments to better places. If we don't manage our health, our bodies will deteriorate faster.

We should do the best we can with what we have whether it is little or much.

There is no sin in acquiring wealth. This is simply prosperity. The more you have the more responsibility you have.

Greed comes into play when a person is driven only by the goal to get money. For the greedy person they will never have what they think is enough.

Many people are understandably concerned about money. Many need to run a very tight financial ship to make ends meet or take other just measures to make sure those ends 'meet' when expenses come in. This is where priorities come into play. What can I do without? What could be cut back? Are there other options?

God does not want people who lay back and expect Him to do all of the providing without us doing anything, unless we are totally helpless and dependent on Him. I'm thinking of elderly person or persons with health issues who can't honestly work.

If we have abilities, or ways to earn income we are expected to utilize those methods and not rely on someone else or a government program to sustain us. Sometimes this requires us to go outside of our comfort zones and maybe do things we don't like in order to earn a living. At least until we can get into something we DO like.

Those who have worked hard and are in retirement should not feel guilty if they do not work. They have saved for these days and now they reap the benefits of it. During these years the body grows weary and honestly isn't capable to do what it once did for many elderly. Sometimes having a job of some kind is really more the Lord's will for some elderly since it's good for them. Staying busy is tied to staying healthy.

I don't believe those who have an over abundance of this life's goods are supposed to squander it all on themselves. I would look at how those extra funds could help to grow the kingdom or help family and friends who need it.

In this economy it is difficult to know the future other than to say, it doesn't look as if our money is going to go further in the future. Income will likely lose more and more potential. It takes wisdom in this day and age to determine how to navigate in these rough waters.

Yes Leonardo, I also know of no one who does not serve Mammon. We are all therefore currently double minded; putting our faith/belief in both God and Mammon. This current status, however, will soon change, as the day of the Lord comes more upon the whole world.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

There's a difference between the love of wealth and money, and partaking of the fruit of one's labors.

When you eat the fruit of the labor of your hands, you will be happy and it will go well for you.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house, your children like olive plants around your table.

Behold, for shall a man who fears the Lord be blessed.

(Psalm 128:2-4)

There is nothing unseemly with receiving a wage for your labor. As I have written before, it's our place to receive what the Lord gives to us; refusing His gift in service to defiled religion, or demanding more in service to worthless religion, is that lust of the flesh. There is a way which seems right to a man, and that way leads to death.

My Godly husband is not serving mammon, only the Lord, but he hasn't met his like-minded yet....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
