Because we are men and women who toil in this flesh and blood, we wrestle with doubt. Do you trust in the Lord?

Then trust that He will make His will known to you. If the Lord is silent then the matter is in your hands. There's no point in wringing your hands worrying about every little thing.

If you do well, then all is well. If you mess up, then trust that the Lord will deal with you. Simple, isn't it?

The problem we have is that very often we are born again in a mature state of our humanity. A man of 30 who has been through occupational training, married, had children and perhaps fought in a war, is mature in matters of daily life. But suppose you become born again at 30, you are a babe in Christ. You most probably don't know God's Word, and have no experience being led by the Holy Spirit. God knows this and makes huge allowance for it.

Moses is trained in "all the wisdom and knowledge of Egypt" for 40 years. He has a further training to lead sheep through the wilderness for another 40 years. And into the third 40 year period, still messes up. He is chastised temporally but makes it into the Kingdom in Matthew 17

David is trained by  sheltering his sheep from the bear and the lion. He must spend time in the courts of Saul to learn how not to do things. When this is finished he must be driven off his inheritance to be a fugitive for another 14 years. Then he is king only of Judah for the first seven years until he has been trained to rule all Israel for another 33 years. And he still messes up with Bathsheba. He is chastised temporally but will be the future Second in Command of Israel under Christ (Jer.30:9).

Paul is raised in the Law. He becomes a Pharisee - the top Law school of Israel. He is trained by Gamaliel - a recognized top teacher of Israel. Then he must be trained away from the other Apostles for 14 years (Galatians Chapter 1 & 2). He must learn sufferings for Christ and raise Churches. Then he still messes up by going down to Jerusalem and ending his Church building ministry. But he receives grace and writes the vital New Testament Epistles on the Church.

It's going to take a while ...

• Read the Bible to know the mind of God
• Read the New Testament to get some of the doctrines into your memory
• Read the Old Testament to see how God deals with various men
• Read Romans Chapter 8 at least once a month for a year. You'll know why when you do it
• Enjoy God's grace that we have in this age. He is very patient and long-suffering
• Whatever you do, don't lower the value of what Jesus did. That is the one thing thing that can get you off-sides with God. Rather sin twenty times than say that you are too bad to be forgiven. It is the Father that put a value on His Son's work. Don't undermine it - ever!
• Listen to all coherent teachings, but reserve the right to sift and refuse all of them
• Take your time. It's going to be a decade before you start getting things right

What is Gods will for All people? To believe in Jesus.

After that his will is for us to live as Christians.

 

As adhoc has said learn through bible reading/study, listening to sermons etc just what Gods will is.

This means working at it, follow blogs/web sites like the reasonablefaith, wintery knight, answersin genesis, coldcasechristianity etc etc, be at church every sunday, make notes and ask questions.

 

You have doubts and questions, good, that means your mind is working. Now find the answers to those doubts and quetions.

If you are unsure of God's will for you in life or a specific circumstance,  then pray and search scripture.  Then see if what you desire is in any way in conflict with the things God says.  If nothing you desire can be considered sinful,  then it is within God's will and you will be blessed for it.  There are always many paths and choices for our lives.  It is a mistake to think God always only has 1 path for us.  Many different paths can be consistent in God's will. The Holy Spirit will convict you if you are on the wrong one.

The more you know the word of God the more you know the will of God

But the best advice I ever got was in bible college when we were all figuring out what we would be.  Find what you hand finds to do and do it,  The path God has ordained for you is right in front of you....just walk it in humble submission to God....and you will be going down the right path

God's will is a state of mind ie wanting/hoping/believing that Jesus is our savior and will saves us from the judgement  (like the thief on the cross), that hope is what should be in our mind in everything we do so Jesus can prevent us from falling away.

Our doubt lies in our fear that God may be a trickster but He is not. He is an honest God as is his test.

ANSWER

It is important to know God’s will. Jesus said that His true relations are those who know and do the Father’s will: “Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother” (Mark 3:35). In the parable of the two sons, Jesus rebukes the chief priests and elders for failing to do the will of the Father; specifically, they “did not repent and believe” (Matthew 21:32). At its most basic, the will of God is to repent of our sin and trust in Christ. If we have not taken that first step, then we have not yet accepted God’s will.
 

 

Once we receive Christ by faith, we are made God’s children (John 1:12), and He desires to lead us in His way (Psalm 143:10). God is not trying to hide His will from us; He wants to reveal it. In fact, He has already given us many, many directions in His Word. We are to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). We are to do good works (1 Peter 2:15). And “it is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality” (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

 

God’s will is knowable and provable. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” This passage gives us an important sequence: the child of God refuses to be conformed to the world and instead allows himself to be transformed by the Spirit. As his mind is renewed according to the things of God, then he can know God’s perfect will.

 

As we seek God’s will, we should make sure what we are considering is not something the Bible forbids. For example, the Bible forbids stealing; since God has clearly spoken on the issue, we know it is not His will for us to be bank robbers—we don’t even need to pray about it. Also, we should make sure what we are considering will glorify God and help us and others grow spiritually.

 

Knowing God’s will is sometimes difficult because it requires patience. It’s natural to want to know all of God’s will at once, but that’s not how He usually works. He reveals to us a step at a time—each move a step of faith—and allows us to continue to trust Him. The important thing is that, as we wait for further direction, we are busy doing the good that we know to do (James 4:17).

 

Often, we want God to give us specifics—where to work, where to live, whom to marry, what car to buy, etc. God allows us to make choices, and, if we are yielded to Him, He has ways of preventing wrong choices (see Acts 16:6–7).

 

The better we get to know a person, the more acquainted we become with his or her desires. For example, a child may look across a busy street at the ball that bounced away, but he doesn’t run after it, because he knows “my dad wouldn’t want me to do that.” He doesn’t have to ask his father for advice on every particular situation; he knows what his father would say because he knows his father. The same is true in our relationship to God. As we walk with the Lord, obeying His Word and relying on His Spirit, we find that we are given the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). We know Him, and that helps us to know His will. We find God’s guidance readily available. “The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight, / but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness” (Proverbs 11:5).

 

If we are walking closely with the Lord and truly desiring His will for our lives, God will place His desires in our hearts. The key is wanting God’s will, not our own. “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
