I don't really know what to make of a post like this and since @creativemechanic seems to ignore pretty much anything I post I hesitate to comment on another post.

I believe God wants us all to eventually be happy and light hearted. I'm not having the best day today and so I'm not really feelin' it. We all have our ups and downs whatever they may be.

Ask yourself why God made us to laugh at funny things?  I don't think humor is a sin.

I know I know, this thread is about laughing about or finding funny things in the bible. Much like the bible isn't a book of science, we can find scientific things in it. The bible isn't a book of humor, but there is some humor in it all depending on how you look at it. To look at the bible for humor is probably the wrong thing to do since it really isn't that kind of a book. It would be like me reading a book on the operation of a 747 and the author decided to intersperse humor all though it. I would not appreciate that knowing this book will be responsible for me learning how to stay alive in a multi million dollar machine in the air. Instruction number 545c,- See that little thing there next to the altimeter? That's a clown horn. It really serves no purpose but to make noise when you squeeze it. We like to add silly to our flight instruction. Have fun and stay alive!

Often when a subject like this comes up, the subject of Jesus comes up. Was he in a good light frame of mind as He walked with His disciples through the corn field or when they were in the boat? Jesus was clear that He didn't mind the little children coming to Him. Lots of people like to think Jesus was a great guy to be around. Not a Mr. Sourpuss. I tend to think Jesus fostered and encouraged all positive uplifting activity. He might have cracked a smile at something humorous.

I always thought the story  where the kids made fun of the prophet's bald head and a bear came after them had a tinge of humor in it, even though things didn't run out so well for them. Lesson- Don't make fun of bald prophets.

The laugh of the believer can exist while contemplating God's Word, yes. Even Sarah laughed because of God's word for her, and God went with it and named her son Isaac, a name related to laughter.

I would change the title, because no one is laughing at the Bible.

The Bible is an ancient book, telling us a very serious story, using people who we often and easily perceive as too far apart from us. But when we pay attention, we can see their personalities and how God is so merciful to receive them even with their idiosyncrasies. The exemple that I gave, I can be speaking out of my ignorance, but I do smile at Jacob's stubborn gesture, of exchanging the blessing by crossing his hands. He lived so many years, learnt so many things, yet...

So, I do find it "funny", because I can relate to this. Humour is the easiest and fastest way to feel at ease.

The patience God has with us is endearing, it moves me and fills me up with joy, so much that this joy sometimes turns into a laugh: The laugh of joy that we can only give because God constantly shows His benevolence towards us, silly, stupid people.

Honestly , some people tend to ruin things by being so uptight. Read what I said before I gave the examples. This in no way disrespects the scripture, its just pointing out humorous events that happened in the stories.

Another amusing one-

Acts 19: Some men try exorcise a demon using " the Jesus Paul preaches of" while not being actual disciples. Basically trying to ride on Paul and Jesus' coattails. The demon tells them- I know Paul and I know Jesus, who are you? Then proceeds to beat the stuffing out of the men  and strip them naked.

A good lesson is not to mix up in things where you dont have the spiritual authority to.

With a sense of humor like yours I am sure you have no problem attracting men. Further, I am sure you are well aware that men have their own laundry list of "issues"... I am told by a reliable source that Adam peed with the seat down.

One thing that almost makes me smile because it's so ridiculous is Balaam, the wicked prophet for hire.

He's such a horrible person [not funny], tells King Balak how to reach the Israelites with vile sexual immorality [not funny],  and is listed in Jude as an example of who NOT to be [not funny].

But what makes me shake my head with a slight grin is when he is traveling on his donkey and the donkey sees the angel sent to slay Balaam and the donkey tries to get away from him, and Balaam can't see it and just start BEATING the donkey to pieces, and God makes the poor donkey talk and say...

..."What have I done to make you beat me these three times?"

Balaam is SOOOO MAAADDD that he can't wrap his mind around a talking donkey and he just TALKS BACK!

...“You have made a fool of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.”

The donkey keeps talking, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”

Balaam says, "No!!"  He STILL HAS NOT NOTICED that the donkey is talking  like a human!  He is THAT mad!!!!!

How ludicrous!  How arrogant and self-puffed up!!  What a moron!

I was talking about this with someone the other day. Balaam just carries on this conversation with the donkey like it's nothing out of the normal. If it had been me, when the donkey said the first word, I would have been about a hundred yards away before he finished his sentence and gaining speed.

Well, Eve did have a conversation with a snake.  Most of us girls run from snakes at the get-go.

Then we have King Solomon with his many, many woes in Ecclesiastes . The man with 900 wives.

We all know the scripture, "Jesus wept".  But I am positive there was a time that he also laughed, it just did not get written down.  There's no way he lived with a bunch of misfit human beings and did not chuckle.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
