I know that some of you are aware of Progressive Christianity and its heresy.  But if not, or you would like a refresher - here is a link by a "pastor".  Undertand - there REALLY ARE people who believe this and live/teach it.  And they are modern day literal false teachers.

If you don't want to read the whole thing, I'll type out the highlights.

Jesus is/isn’t the only way. – “They can’t all be true” – except when they are.

The author of the article states that there are problems with Christians who believe in Jesus, his death, and resurrection being the "only way".

He says falsely that:

  • God did not write the Bible.  Men did.
  • That the Bible, in part, contains bad theology.
  • That the type of Christianity that you and I here at Worthy believe portrays "bloodthirsty, wrathful, and judgmental God that views people as sinners and evil."
  • "Jesus is our model who shows us how to truly live a Godly life and thus experience and know salvation wholeness and abundant/eternal life here and now – and beyond. It is by loving others and receiving their love; forgiving others and receiving their forgiveness; by treating others justly and receiving their just treatment; and by being reconciled with others – that we know and experience salvation."

Did you get that?  Progressives believe that any religion CAN lead to the salvation of God.  You just have to love people [which we SHOULD] and treating people justly [which we SHOULD].

But those things, in contributing to the glory of God, come AFTER salvation.  Salvation as belief in the death, resurrection, and deity of Jesus Christ.

This is spreading like wildfire folks.  Pray for author of this article.  And pray for those who believe that "goodness" saves and that God doesn't see people's sins.

As Christianity sprang from Judaism, this might be a newer religion forming. Schism among the faithful have been ongoing from the beginning.

I've spent some time amongst people who subscribe to this particular form of "Christianity". There's a lot of variation amongst those who practice it so this isn't true of all of them, but overall? I've found the following to be true of their beliefs and attitudes.

1) There's a lot of emphasis on the love element of Christianity, tolerance, and not judging people. At least until it comes to talking about people who don't agree with them. At that point the love goes out the window.

2) They believe the Bible is good overall but not the Word of God. Things like translation errors, historical contexts that are missing or no longer applicable, and so on are excuses to ignore parts they don't like. Many of them take a more metaphorical view of the Bible.

3) They aren't entirely Universalists. Their beliefs on Hell are actually about as varied as mainstream Christians.

4) Overall the chat in such communities tends to lean less toward actual theology and more toward "Is this sin okay?" and then everyone says it's okay.

It's pretty sad overall. There are some folks involved in it that seem like genuinely nice people who don't get on board with the mainstream Christianity bashing. But it'd be blatantly false to say that there's not a strong element within it that only seeks to hate on Christianity and feel validated about their personal sins. It's like Jesus and others in the Bible said, though. We're going to get false teachers.

Thanks for sharing this @Jayne... I've just read the article...

The article Authors credentials:

Rev. Roger Wolsey is an ordained United Methodist pastor who directs the Wesley Foundation at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and is author of Kissing Fish: christianity for people who don’t like christianity

...I believe that John/Charles Wesley would be turning in their graves after reading his article....

the Way continues to remain Narrow...yet folk will continue to try and broaden it by perverting God's Word...

Back in the 70’s when I was saved in the Jesus One Way movement, the ideas of many religions being paths to God was popular. I myself was rescued from East Indian paganism.

We preached One Way precisely to battle such notions.

Yes Jayne, and have you considered the speed of it all?

With 1.4 billion adherents: Who am I to judge homosexuality as right or wrong? If you are a good person and live a moral life, you will go to heaven. By the sweat of your brow, what you worked for and rightfully earned belongs to those that do not deserve it. Worship the creation more than the creator. I would baptize extraterrestrials if they had a fallen nature. Every major religion worships the same god, called by a different name in their culture.1

1 Extracted and paraphrased from Pope Francis’s statements and actions.

APOS´TATE, n. [Gr. αποσατης.]  One who has forsaken the church, sect or profession to which he before adhered. In its original sense, applied to one who has abandoned his religion; but correctly applied also to one who abandons a political or other party.2

I might have fallen off the turnip truck, but it was not yesterday. A simple Bible student such as myself can discern the times we are living. Look how rapidly things have changed and the problems presented in only the last decade. A SCOTUS justice cannot and will not define what a woman is—forcing the use of gender identity pronouns, wokeism, critical race theory, planned and coordinated national and global division, etc.

Congress opened a session with a prayer to Brahma, closing the prayer with Amen and Awomen.

Decades of teaching evolutionary theory in public schools and institutions of higher learning, kicking God out of public and private institutions, and shaking our collective fist at the Almighty have caught up with us. I believe a remedial judgment with debased minds has occurred from God, with our national judgment not very far behind.

Picking up a newspaper with Matthew chapter 24 side by side, I’m reading the exact same thing. If we think things are bad now, what will they be like in only a couple more years? How much will we be witness to before we hear the trumpet and shout, “Come Up Here?”

It does not take a biblical scholar to discern the end of the end times in which we are living. I believe it is 11:59 P.M., and our blessed hope will arrive when it strikes midnight.

Amen Brother. The Bible could not be clearer on the One way. The Way, the Truth, and the Light.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
