I've been a believer for many years and thought I was rooted and grounded in the word before I met my boyfriend. I would like to list some things he believes and criticizes me when I don't see it the same way as he does.

There are so many other things I want to write but will limit it to what I have now. I'm having a really difficult time. I used to feel so close to God...now I feel so far away from him...I have a hard time praying and reading the word since we've been together.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

satan comes in many forms...anything that causes you to walk away from The Lord is satanic...Now, I'm not saying that your boyfriend is the devil what I am saying is that the devil is using your boyfriend to lead you in the wrong direction.

Any time any thing causes you to stumble and doubt God should be a giant red flag that you need to run closer to Him and if this means leaving your boyfriend so be it.

Tell your boyfriend how you feel as you're exiting the door in the hopes that he, as he watches you walk away from him, will see the light... then walk out the door and don't look back.

Absolutely no one and no thing is worth losing The Lord over.

Be blessed.

The question you have to ask yourself is this-if you have this much doubt about him now, is this really the type of person you'd want to spend the rest of your life with?

He is now attempting to make excuses for pre-marital sex. How do you know that he is not using this same excuse to sleep with other people and you're not aware of it? Even if the answer to that is no, how do you know that he wouldn't decide to start cheating after you're married and use that as his excuse? There are some very scary diseases running rampant and you don't want to even take that kind of a risk.

I'm with Nebula on this one. He sounds very controlling and once he has you in marriage, I'm afraid things are going to get worse for you! I would run for the door and find a good pastor and his wife to get Biblical counseling from!!!!

Well, there's cults and then there's cults.

I didn't mean to say he was in a cult, but there is a control and false doctring philosophy that this guy seems to be imposing.

Whatever the case - she's in a dangerous situation and needs to get out.

The husband is the spiritual head of the household . . . and this is not a "head" she should have!

I think it would be best for him to sit down and read the Bible and see what God really has to say.....

first off.....

if you Love Him ( God ) you will keep his commandments....

second,...

the fruit of the Spirit says otherwise....

next......

that is satans way of getting around and twisting things so that a person can try and justify their actions..... it is an excuse, that is all, not even a reason, just a lousy, silly, holds no water excuse.....

now, if you have read the Bible and know what it says about what he is trying to tell you, and it is starting to confuse you, then you need to separate yourself from him so that you can get your thoughts back on track...... if you dont, you may be allowing yourself to be sucked into a trap of satan and may jepardize your relationship with Christ......

oh yea......

the Bible tells us that we are not to forbid ourselfs from fellowshipping with other believers..... ( meaning, we are to fellowship, we are not to coccoon or to isoclate ourselves.... this is how we can grow stronger..... the wolf does that, they separate one sheep from the flock, and then kill it..... by not going to a fellowship and worshipping with others, you are being singled out by the wolf (satan) to fall prey to his attack.......)

There is strength in numbers.... one that is with the Lord will cause how many to flee?????? (1000) and if there are two in the Lord what happens then? how many will flee then???? ( 10,000 )

it sounds as if you are on the verge of being unequally yoked.....

stay faithful to the Lord, for the times are coming to a close, and there may not be time to try and get back on track later....

blessings.....

mike

Sounds like he has a custom made religion. That is a lot of levels of scary.

You said that you are having trouble praying and reading the Bible since you got with him. It sounds like you are going to have to make a choice between your boyfriend and God. The sooner you choose God the less heartbreak there will be for both you and your boyfriend.

It sounds like you have a good heart and you are trying to do the right thing. Don't let what you know is right go by the wayside because of "love." Because your love won't last without Christ at the center of the relationship, and it doesn't sound like your boyfriend wants to put Christ at the center.

Your boyfriend's understanding of Christianity is loused up like a soup sandwich!  These are ALL very, very old heresies which the Church debated and COMPLETELY REJECTED within the first three centuries Anno Domini.

Antinomianism/Libertinism is connected at least tangentially to the even earlier heresy of Gnosticism.  Gnosticism believed the body is 'bad,' whereas Scripture says God called his WHOLE CREATION 'GOOD'!!!

If your boyfriend would like to discuss it further, please have him e-mail me at leonardenniss@qwest.net.

Every blessing,

Fr. Onesimus

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Bingo, Leo got it on this one. Your boyfriend is a Gnostic, which is the root of all Christian heresy.

Btw, and Leo you may want to keep a watch on this as well, there was a HUGE conference last month (or next month, can't remember if it has happened or will happen) where Mark Yaconelli, Jars of Clay, Steven Curtis Chapman, Rick Warren and co....and other "worship leaders" in the church are basically bringing back some of the Gnostic teachings. While they don't mention it by name, the teaches are basically:

1) We must pursue spiritual things and forget the things of the flesh

2) Deny ourselves all pleasure in the flesh and only pursue that which is spiritual

3) Pursue spiritual excersizes and meditation

Here is the website...Gnosticism is beginning to expirience it's first revival since 300AD.

Hi Everyone... I just happened on this website by accident. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight.

I've been a believer for many years and thought I was rooted and grounded in the word before I met my boyfriend. I would like to list some things he believes and criticizes me when I don't see it the same way as he does.

1. Sin is no longer imputed to the believer...Jesus died for past, present and future sins...thus showing that there is no longer any need to asking forgiveness. All we are required to do is seek Him and thats it.

2.We cannot change our ways, thoughts, etc. We have no control over our body because sin lies in the flesh...not the spirit. By this he believes that it doesn't matter what the body does. The body can sin because sin lies in it. The spirit is what matters. Thus he believes that it's okay to have sex before marriage...lie...etc, because it's not us that sins but our body. He often quotes from Paul....Everythings lawful for me to do...but not everything edifies God.

Whenever I dispute him on anything he says I'm living under the law....that I'm not living under the freedom I have been given. He totally disregards any scripture I give him by saying it was said while under the law...even Jesus' teachings he says that. He picks and chooses what he wants to believe.

3. He doesn't believe in going to church....says that they all teach the law and sin.

4.He believes that there are only a few "real" believers that know the truth.

5.He believes God puts sickness on you when you disobey him....if God puts sickness on you, then why does he heal you? Wouldn't he be working against himself?

There are so many other things I want to write but will limit it to what I have now. I'm having a really difficult time. I used to feel so close to God...now I feel so far away from him...I have a hard time praying and reading the word since we've been together.

Can anyone give me scriptural evidence that any of this is true? As far as I know...it's all deception.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Jesus didn't just die for us; He died as us. That is why Paul can say, "Our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should no longer serve sin; for he that is dead is freed from sin." He also says, "Shall we continue in sin that grace shall abound? God forbid." He also says, "I was crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives within me; and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." He also says, "Walk in the spirit and make no provision for the flesh." Why don't we make a provision for the flesh? Because Jesus already did. He nailed that which was born of flesh (Adam) to a tree. Paul also tells us to know this, that our old man was crucified with him, to reckon ourselves dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord, and (here's the kicker) yield our members as INSTRUMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. That word "instruments" is translated "weapons". One who has not reckoned the death of Jesus as his very own death will use their own members as weapons against themselves. The order is "know this" then "reckon it to be so" then "yield your members"...not the other way around. This young man has taken the word "liberty" and is using it as a cloak of maliciousness (self-seeking). We are told not to use our liberty as an opportunity for the flesh but to in love serve one another. Believers who are rooted in the finished work of Christ are many times accused of preaching that grace is a license to continue in sin. Sweetheart, we don't need a license to sin. We will sin if we want to. The good news is that God, in and through the new covenant, gives us new desires by placing His laws within our hearts and writing them on our minds. There is a river that runs right down the two banks of law and license...and that river is grace. Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts that we may live soberly and righteously in THIS PRESENT AGE (that's NOW). Those who abuse grace are self-seeking. I know...I have been there. I used grace to justify what I wanted to do in my immaturity. Thank God though that He is merciful. He gives us time to grow and waits patiently. One word of warning though.....careless ears give way to calloused ears. Calloused ears give way to carnal ears and carnal ears give way to closed ears. He has taken the message of grace and twisted it to his own use. I am not going to say that's okay because it isn't. It is careless and immature. However, if he refuses to heed the conviction of the Holy Spirit (and I know it is there if he is born again), then the results of improperly discerning the body of the Lord Jesus will begin to show up in his life. It is true that body is dead because of sin (the sin lurking in the members) and that the spirit IS life because of righteousness (not imputed but imparted) but the Spirit of God in us is to quicken our mortal bodies. We are also to submit to the renewing of the mind that brings transformation. Be blessed and listen to the Holy Ghost in you. He reveals the truth and bears witness to Christ.

In His Love,

Linda

I want to thank everyone who responded to me...you all have helped SO much!

He has not been burned by a bad experience at church....He simply doesn't go. He hasn't gone since he was a child.

He listens to no one...recieves no teaching from men (as he puts it) He says that everything he believes is what the Lord revealed to him. He quotes Paul extensively...especially where he says that "you have no more need for a man to teach you"...he believes that him. According to him there are 2 types of people...the sheep and the leaders...with him being a leader. A leader needs no one to teach him except God. He believes that he is one of the few who God has revealed the "truth" to.

I can only write a little at a time...I do not want to be caught asking anyone about his beliefs.

Again...thank you everyone!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
