I believe the verse is, "I am the chief of sinners" not I was born a sinner, But I will have to check versions.

Believe that children and babies are born sinners is in the Apocrphyl texts, Not the New Testament. However, I thought you were opposed to the Apocraphyl texts !

You are right.  I am quite opposed to extra-Biblical writings that do not contain the truth.

And....Paul did call himself the"chief of sinners".  He felt horrible for his part in having Christians murdered before he was saved.

I gave you a verse in the New Testament that explained being born a sinner.

Here are two more that another poster gave:

Ephesians 2:3 "We were once by nature children of wrath."

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh" "In the flesh no good thing dwells"  John 3:6 & Romans 7:18

"By nature" and "born of"  - that means born sinful.

That's five verses in total so fat - two from the Old Testament and three from the New Testament.

When do you think people become sinners?

There's a simple solution. Get government out of the marriage business.

Exactly! Government does not belong in the church or marriage. Our government has far exceeded its Constitutional authority in every aspect of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The medical term "mentally retarded" is not what is offensive.

I have a mentally retarded brother.

It when people use the term "retard" as an adjective to mock people that is cruel.

Agreed. Mockery has no place among us.

As @Ghostdog points out, retard is a French term which means "slow." That's not always the case with neurological affliction.

"Mentally disabled" isn't rendered in obedience to political correctness; it's a medically accurate phrase which encompasses a broad swathe of neuroatypical conditions. That's all.

As for myself, I think "retarded" more aptly describes maladies which impact physical growth and development. But then, that's just my opinion on the matter.

Hasn't anyone heard- sticks n stones will break my bones but names can never hurt me!?👍

My mom taught me that as a child (except with her is was "words can never hurt me"! I said that to Tommy, the neighborhood bully, and he  picked up a baseball bat and broke my shin!

Actually, I made that last part up. In reality, I took her lesson to heart, and incorporated it into my being. However, not everyone has done that. Some people are it seems, easily hurt by words. There are even some, who seem to make a lifestyle our of being offended. Still, it does no harm to keep their sensitivities in mind. Kindness is a good thing.

Avoiding taxes (avoiding, not evading) is the patriotic thing to do. Tax law is not only about raising revenue, it is about incentivizing desirable behaviors.

Paul is not Jesus. Paul was the chief sinner of the persecution of Christians. Paul may have felt guilty, Thus leading him to make this exclamation.

Jesus did not condemn, Nor call children sinners. Jesus loved children, and was very fond of them.

Sister, we are just going to have to agree to disagree.  Myself and another poster have given you six verses that explain that we are sinners from birth.  And there are more.

Yes, Jesus loved children very much. He also loved Paul - a horrible sinner before his salvation experience.  Jesus also loved the rich young ruler - a man who rejected Jesus.

Jesus loves sinners.  Jesus died for the sinners.

Are you thinking that when the Bible says that we are born sinners that I am saying babies are "bad" and that Jesus does not love them?  I'm not.

I'm saying what the Bible says that we are born with an inclination to sin.  We don't sin yet as infants, but the sin nature is there from birth.  And doing the wrong things comes pretty soon.

Let me give you an example.

When I was three years old, my 18 month old brother was in his little developmental walker toddling around following me.  That aggrevated me.  Why?  I had wanted to play with my dolls and my mother said no.  I had to watch my brother while she was cooking or something.  Well, he wheeled around and ran over my toe.  Twice.  It hurt!!  He didn't mean to.  It was an accident.

I was already mad and now my toes were in pain.  So, what did I do?  I reached down and took his little arm, raised it to my mouth, and I bit him as hard as I could!

He starts screaming, my mother looks at his arm and start spanking me, and it turns into a brouhaha.

You see, even at three-years-old, I knew EXACTLY what I was doing and knew it was wrong.

Yet, Jesus loved me.  NOT for biting my brother, but because he created me and died for my sins.

Why did I get mad at my mother and bite my brother?

Because I was born with an inclination to sin.  So says the Bible - many times.

I am not saying that babies are "bad".  I am saying what the Bible says.  Sin is our nature.  It says that over and over.  That's why we need Jesus, who loves us, from birth.

Most likely six quotes from Paul that misunderstand what he was saying.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
