As I was considering this question this morning, "What are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints?", I read these amazing and lofty verses in Ephesians 2:19-22

Quote

19Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. 21In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.

Wow -  we "are being built together into a dwelling place for God"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Ephesians 1:18-19 brother Paul says: "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the boundless greatness of His power toward us who believe."

In some reading this morning I was impressed that God has an inheritance in us!  We usually think in terms of what this "so great a salvation" means to us, but God gets something out of the deal too. So the first part of Paul's prayer says we have a hope of our calling, but then that God also has something very rich and glorious that He is inheriting in us. Wow!

So then, what is it exactly that God inherits in us that is so "rich & glorious"?

The overall context of your text is verses 9-12:

9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Here we see that God's glory is foremost - as it should be. And His inheritance should supersede all else in the universe. Israel inherit Canaan. The Church inherits the world. What can God inherit that is greater than the sum of all things positive. It is bound up with us but is not us. From the beginning God's plan included man but not man alone. And so He put man in front of the Tree of Life and commanded Him to eat. God's plan was to have, as His highest expression, man who possessed and was energized by Himself. Of all the creatures, the faster, the stronger, the fiercer and the most beautiful, God's choice was MAN. But ma alone falls far short of His glory. So he made man to be His Abode. By taking a man and infusing Himself into that man, God had the means for divine expression within His creature. He did not want millions of little gods. He wanted a MAN that expressed His nature.

And so, after sin came in and had to be dealt with at an enormous cost, God presents man with the Tree of Life again - the gospel of John. And in it is Chapter 1 which ends in Bethel - the house of God. And how is Bethel achieved? By the slain Lamb of God for sins that must be EATEN. The House of God, not made with hands is revealed and by Chapter 6 we see the full plan. Eat Christ as Bread, and take in Christ by His flesh and blood. All these three are pictures of Christ's HUMANITY. The Passover Lamb's blood is for God. It is OUTSIDE the door. But Christ the Man has His human LIFE in the blood. He has His Human attributes in His flesh. And He a loaf without leaven -  a perfect human, but that has suffered the plucking, threshing, grinding and baking to be equipped in all things for service to God.

And it when we enter into the full work of Christ, offered to us men in the person of the Comforter, take Him into our spirits and then allow Him, with cooperation, to expand in us until our souls are transformed, and our bodies resurrected, we will be presented to God as His inheritance. Nothing is good enough for God except His Son Jesus. And we have this unique chance to be up to God's standard IF WE LET CHRIST PERMEATE US. The ONLY WAY is "Christ IN us the hope of glory" (Col.1:27). The we can begin to understand your text;

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Never think that the rules and laws we keep can produce that which pleases God. Never think that your ministry can come up to God's standard. God inheritance only reaches His standard because Christ is the center, periphery and content of a House made of MEN who are FULL of Jesus.

Eternal life. Simply put.

YHVH the Creator God became a man. That meant that he could and did die. The resurrection to life eternal as a man (albeit the God man) is the inheritance. And what inheritance we share in:

1 John 3:2 (KJV)
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Hello, I have pondered this exact question, what is being addressed with this ‘inheritance in us’…..

The best I can take a stab at it would be; Christ is God’s inheritance, and the fact that He came to live and share His everlasting life in us makes Christ in us, God’s inheritance in us….

Not saying this is it, or all, but the best I can put forth in my present state of growth before Him…

It is a sad thing that this is not emphasized in Churches today. Christians are led to concentrate of what they can DO - (i) Works and (ii) Service. Very few churches teach "Christ In you - the hope of glory". The teaching is that Christ is in heaven and we are here on earth to do a social work. But John, especially in his gospel, teaches a Christ IN a man to create rivers of the waters of life (Jn.7:39). If you're not sure, ask the next ten Christians you meet how they get Christ into them. See what they say.

Right on the nail! Keep it up brother. Only Christ can satisfy God. Let us be permeated with Christ and we can then please Jehovah.

Agreed!  So much preaching I hear on radio and TV has nothing to do with Christ operating in His regenerated ones, but more of taking the Bible as a set of outward do's and don'ts. When, in fact, Christ said, "Apart from Me you can do nothing."  That includes trying to do good, Biblical principles out of our own puny energy.

Christ said He would build His ekklesia. He does that in and through us, if we LET Him, culminating in the ultimate building in the universe - New Jerusalem, His bride!

Christ is preparing a place for us in the new Jerusalem. That's where our inheritance will be. To be where Christ is and see his glory forever. To be with God the Father and see his face. Only Glorified people of God will see the father's face. And the glory of his face will satisfy us. To see the one we all love. Truly Amazing !

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
