Love this Topic!

Yes! I am really enjoying the discussion, and see much fruit of righteousness for the Holy Spirit to distribute to our guests. Remind me to brag about it later. :)

James 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

It is also not something that develops and matures over time, such as patience. Paul said "I die daily". We must do so because as long as we are wearing this earth suit, we can fall into pride at any time, taking offense when we should bear our humiliations, etc...Always on watch!

No doubt, absolutely! The enemy relentlessly seeks who he MAY devour.....that ole gnat(spirit of pride) will TRY at every turn to drop a little seed( " oh,do they know who they're talking to?!" OR " How dare you talk to ME that way!")

So yes" Stay awake,be vigilant, always ON WATCH"

I was once told if I'd just STAY on my knees I'd never have far to fall! Lol Tis a life of servitude and yes, suffering for Christs Sake --- I say it's a privilege,He Died for me so I live for Him🙏😀

I could never compare anything I go through in this life to what Christ endured for my sake---- He Was Forsaken! My my my,never mind the stripes, the spikes, the spear, the mutilation, the crown of thorns, the ripping out of his beard- but Forsaken- whew! I can't imagine ... Only God the Son Could Do that for lil me.    If that don't Humble ya before Almighty God?

It's needful for the Lord to humble us, my friends. This is not an event limited to a specific period of time, though we know that various trials and tribulation may seem more severe to our perspective than others.

For example, careless commentary I directed your way on the forum yesterday resulted in a lesson of humility from the Lord, @Mr. M. He called upon me to examine myself and measure those words I wrote; when I had done so, I was chagrined at how careless I was with a brother. I know that you forgive my trespass, but it was a lesson I sorely needed. I could say, "Oh, but that's not what I really meant!" but this is nothing but an excuse. Excuses don't work with the Lord!

I wrote it or said it, so I claim responsibility.

Many years ago when the Lord called me out of this world, I wasn't cognizant of that work which Jesus Christ started in me. It began with the divestment of my possessions and money. The destruction of that life which I found myself living was needful, for that was a wellspring of pride: pride in myself and my abilities. Look at what I have done! Indeed, now look as it collapses in a heap.

There is no occasion for boasting in ourselves, and the Lord is faithful to scourge us so that we have nothing left to boast about... unless we are boasting of the Lord. It's the greatest of honors to boast about our Lord Jesus Christ, so it's good if I do that very thing here with you all:

I thought that I was smart, until I learned how ignorant I truly am.
I prided myself in my looks, so the Lord stripped those looks away.
I was strong, so the Lord made we weak.
I was healthy, so I became deathly ill.
I never broke a bone in my life until the day when the Lord delivered me with a mighty hand;
I became an orphan, losing family and friends.

As a reminder that I live by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God, I walk in affliction (muscular dystrophy). I can be careless, so the Lord is swift to discipline me. We are blessed beyond words!

I don't even remember exactly what it was, I just felt we had resolved it and moved on, so forgotten also. Reminds us that His mercies are new every morning, so ours must be also. This morning has been a blast. We are His Witnesses. Making mistakes and moving through them as brethren beloved is the testimony He desires of us. That we be real, not offering lip service (or typing service), to each other, but react to each others words in sincerity. Chances are, the way I worded something sounded off to you, so you responded. That is either an opportunity to take offense, or improve my own ability to express myself and be rightly understood. As they say, no harm, no foul, etc...

Blessed by your honesty,

James

As the saying goes, "it's all good." Unlike the world where that saying originates, we understand that in Jesus Christ, this is true. After I'm finished with running errands this morning, I intend to visit that topic to offer a changed perspective. You're always a blessing, brother. :)

Humility Is Not A Fruit Of The Spirit. Why Not?

My understanding,

Any fruit I bear when I abide in the true vine, Jesus, is produced by the vine, not me. I only bear it. He produces it.

I believe, the more that I, as a branch, abide in the vine, (stay in a given place, remain, stay, pitch a tent, tabernacle), the more I am changed to be like Christ, (not I but Christ), and the more I am enlightened with this mind of Christ, as told to do, obedient. My many first years as a believer were messed up/ spiritually dysfunctional, always trying to do this "work" for Jesus, instead of truly knowing Jesus and allow him to do the work, through me.                  "and He will direct my path"
Realizing this removes any pride in in my works. I know it is all his works, borne by me, made visible to those who receive this fruit.

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus"

It is almost , I think,  to be unaware of the word humility, or any need for it, when our spirit rules, and become a 'slave' to Christ (submitting to his will) who came to serve. These later years I have become very very thankful to my God, grateful, daily being aware of all the blessings, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and such great favor he blesses our family with. Yes, we are not exempt, our family has all the trials and tribulations God allows for growth. Being exposed from a young age of how most humans suffer so, with and without Christ, it has heightened my sensitivity to "why me Lord', why are you so good to me, and show me such abundant favor, a sinner like me.

This is what has such a humbling effect upon me, how great God is, beyond comprehension, in all his creation, I know his presence, and realize it really is NOT I, but Christ in me. He owns it all, and what his word says, the program, works.

I believe humility is the result of Christ in us, ruling (thoughts actions) as we abide, immersed in the mind/thinking/abiding/ moving of God.   And we don't even know it because it is not necessary.

I'm the richest man I know, true riches that my creator gives.     'For God so loves the world He gave'

Think about this. ( I believe) We would not 'need' many gifts of the spirit if we fully had the complete mind of Christ.

Hmm yet some would say it can mean humbleness. Now based on what I read it is not listed yet I am amazed at how many believe it is and preach on it as if it was listed. Better then being proud lol

Humility precedes the fruit of the Spirit for that very reason.

Can a proud person bear the fruit of the Spirit? Impossible!

James 4:

6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:

God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.

@Sower A good application you make from Philippians 2, indeed; 'let this mind be in you' ; He '...humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross'.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
