Hebrews 11:25b (NASB20)
………………………………..enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin,

     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why does scripture say the pleasures of sin are temporary…?
It is because evil is only pleasurable as it misuses the good…. Once the evil and the good have been separated by the final judgement and each goes to its own place evil/sin will only have itself to feed upon and then will discover what itself is…. That being a restless desire after it knows not what, unfulfilled and incapable of being satisfied and incapable of being brought out of its own state, thereby eternally being a torment to itself…
For God does not punish as if He is hurt or needs a recompense in some way…. But His punishments or that which is called His punishments is a leaving each to the qualities that one has embraced…. For when one misuses the good to bring forth evil that one damages oneself, for God is incapable of being damaged or change, He forever remains a will to all goodness, for that is what He is in Himself, the good or bad actions of any created thing changes Him not, only the creature blesses or damages itself….
For at the final judgment when the fruit of having used or misused the good is made manifest, blessings and honor to one, horror and distress to the other….
Be blessed in the fruit of the choices one makes, let them be to the embracing of the quality of being dead in Christ, whereby all the good is embraced..
For many, stringing those temporaries together will get them all the way to the last breath, which will then get a free ticket to hell.
Maturity will send a red flag to those seeking long term success, and this maturity only comes from God. For those without God it'll be, " I tried to quit numerous times and finally I just gave in to it."
What many people fail to see is that there are  better things to fill those empty holes. No need to go round on an empty tank.
Truth in this thank you but it was about Moses and what he did and why. I never seen it as "enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin". For the world "Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him]..
For us its rewards or none based on what we did or didn't do for Him. Seems to me sin no matter how easy it is or temporary fun knowing Christ is what gets you in or not. Then how do you judge those that never heard or were so confused by so many voices in the world. If they were blind they would have no sin. Sin.. focus on Christ if YOU try to stop it will fail every time.
As a born again believer of many yrs, and a smoker for over a half century, I also had to give it to God.
I tried for many yrs every method to quit save hypnotism. I could not quit, and never did.
But I have not smoked for nine yrs now.  God delivered me.
The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
God gets the glory, and gratitude to the man who prayed over me.
As you probably know, the word "hell" is something of a construct, translated from four actual words that are used in the Bible: Sheol, Gehenna, Tartaurus and Hades. I think we shortchange the word when we just use the rather simplistic term "hell" for all of these (usually referring to eternal, conscious torment), when they mean somewhat different things.
Words often translated as hell (espcially in KJV & NKJV):
Sheol: used in 65 times in OT - considered the place or state of all the dead
Hades:  used 11 times in NT - same basic meaning as Sheol (literally means "not to see")
Tartaurus: used 1 time in NT - is stated only as applying to fallen angels
Gehenna*: used 12 times in NT - an actual place of burning trash and condemned people's corpses . . . a valley near Jerusalem.  THIS IS THE TERM THAT MOST CLOSELY RESEMBLES "HELL" IN MODERN THEOLOGY.
* Gehenna, of these four words, is the term that most closely conveys eternal, conscious torment.  Yet it is only used 11 times in three gospels (Mathew, Mark & Luke) and once, metaphorically in James 3:6.  If this is such an important doctrinal concept of the New Testament, why does Paul, Peter and John not mention it in any of their writings
So I'm not saying Gehenna isn't a real picture of what may happen to some souls if they are unrepentant and judged to be eternally tormented.  But I suggest that we Christians may use the term "hell"  (meaning eternal, conscious torment) too frequently - more frequently than the Bible does.
The opening to this thread mentions Hebrews 11.
That  and Hebrews 12 speaks again and again and yet again of what is accomplished by faith, an individual's faith, yet it also states the author of that faith is Jesus. It is ( To me) God alone that supplies the faith in me, for without God I had a faith, a strong faith, in myself.
In that faith in myself I did not indulge in sins for pleasure. I had a code of my own. Did I sin? Yes! My faith was weak though devout in it's own manner.
Now, having been turned about by the Holy Spirit, I have faith the saving faith of Jesus to cling onto. Do I sin? Yes, in thought for sure, and to my shame as I recognize it happening in me  in deed as well.
Sins are not really pleasurable for long, in that they  never satisfy for long, and demand evermore of the same. Sin is like filling a leaky bucket a dribble at time, while trust placed in the faith of Jesus,-  that faith brings about the overflowing of  "living water", water that nourishes my soul and pacifies my own flesh, taming it's wilder nature.
    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.
      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.
      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.
      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.
      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”
    • Understanding the Enemy!
      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!
      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.
      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,
      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.
      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!
    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,
      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.
      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
