What are your thoughts on this disorder?

I don't believe there really is such a thing. I have had a shrink tell me I was ADD but I know better. I am just BOARD because much of life is boring so I find my self drifting off alot. What acronym will they think of next?

That is a load i had ADD when i was younger i could never sit still and my mind was allways wondering. Myt mother allso suffers from this as well now a days she cant even sit through a hole moive at home without breaking out a pack of cards and playing salitare or getting up every ten minuets becouse she remberd something that she thought needed to be done right away.

ADD is veary real for some it is a small thing that can be gotton over easely for others it is a serious problem that in some cases drugs don't even work veary well.

Just becouse youre was or is a milde case and you don't realy feel the efect of it don't think that it dosent excest becouse it is veary real

There are now clinical test being done that evaluate dogs w/ Add.

i think in some cases this is true... but definitely not all... i think that i may have add and my parents don't neglect me...

Both my wife and my son suffer from this. It is a reality. My son has taken ritalin in his adulthood and he tells me that it helps him concentrate.

My wife is a teacher and she sees it in kids off and on. As stated by earlier posts, the drug pushing medical people that we now have, a lot of times, prescribe drugs to kids that really just have misbehavior problems. It really is difficult to know which is the case, but being in the position of a teacher she is able to spend time with the kids, and Gert to know the parents well enough to know.

So, to make it short, ADD is a real problem, but too many times simple misbehavior is diagnosed as this problem. To add to the aggravation, too many parents and teachers are willing to drug the kids that are just misbehavior problems so they don't have to deal with the problem of teaching the kids to behave. And who wants to admit that they are a failure as a parent when they can stick an illness in it's place.

This puts the ADD person in a position of not being taken serious as having a problem which makes it even worse. very frustrating

it is wrong to give children narcotics right???

It would be wrong to give a child small amounts of coke right???

is it wrong to give children ritiln when it is a narcotic?

it is a drug and i've seen it used to get high (it's a speeder) i didn't use it to speed because i was started on it in 3rd grade

Thanks. Very enlightening. I think I might have it. I'll be getting a diagnostic soon. I'm going to throw everything I know at him to be sure he is accurate. Please add more comments.
