It seems during the 60's everyone unanimously decided teaching children character and proper behavior would no longer be a thing. Thanks Boomers, we are harvesting the fruits of your labor. It is a shame we lack the foundation, having to learn these habits as adults.

Nah, don't think that is accurate at all! I raised a couple of 'em then.  They are incredibly hard workers, well educated and responsible individuals.  Most of their friends were also pretty grand as kids too.

Kids nowadays....

I remember they said that in the 70s. Once I sat in the bus, 90s, I was 20 something. I was half asleep. 2 old women came in and started to complain about me sitting there and became nasty. I hadn't even noticed them. I would have given them my seat, had they been friendly. Now I pretended to be asleep and ignored them.

God hold's you, Scott, responsible four actions, sins, not me or anybody else. You really should not group everyone unanimously  deciding anything, as I doubt you wouldn't know even one percent of them.

Yes, we are ultimately responsible for ourselves despite our circumstances. That was referencing fall of Western civilization more than individuals.

Yes, I have a daughter. The ignorance in my over-generalization was a humor to me. The issue addressed was more about the fall of Western civilization than an individual overcoming the odds. Our pattern of behavior formed when we were three, fulfilling rules of conduct is easier if are hearts are put in the right place to begin with. That was the point I tried to make.

The sad situation is that its not just the young, those of the 50's and 60's also don't want to obey rules and want to do their own thing.

I've heard homosexuals and homosexual priests and preachers, even the Pope for that matter, make similar arguments.

So as I look at NC replacing the old one, I'm wondering if I should agree with them or not.

Are there any standards for sin any more if we are set free from the Law as long as what we do is done in the spirit and name of love?

Sinners will always try to use Grace and mercy to justify their sins. Obviously we should never intentionally sin, but those who spend every moment of their lives trying not to sin will lose a lot of joy in their lives. I don't believe that Christians should go around pointing the finger at everybody saying that they're evil. That doesn't mean that we can't correct our brother when he is straying. If we put Christ first and focus on living for him, I believe obedience comes naturally and we don't have to worry about whether we're sitting or not.

For those less than perfect in their relation with God, without the Laws God gave how do we know what sin is?

Is there any morality without the Law to establish it?

Thanks boomers, for cratering the economy and putting us deeply in debt. Thanks for electing corporate robots and driving costs of living through the roof. Thanks for getting all yours for a fraction of the cost that things are now, and then calling us mooches when we want the same opportunities.

Blaming is fun.

And thanks to each and every prior generation for doing all the funky things they did, going back to Adam!

But the generations since the boomers will no doubt get it right ("We're just not making promises that we'll never keep!" - Phil Collins) . . .

In my Tuesday men's fellowship, a brother said this.  So is this what the Christian life is about?

Re: Bunch of rules- Getting back closer to the opening, YES RULES APLENTY to be obeyed with the heart first and then the mind to reason through what God's will is for me personally, that I may  in some way  be a blessing to  as well as blessed by God.

The complaint that rules are legalism is folly. What is legalism are rules without heart. God has given rules aplenty and even has stepped up the rules at the sermon on the mount, but always with a heart for His creation and opportunity for his creation to repent and honor Him.

Honoring the commands by the creator of all that has been created is not legalism. It is duty and privilege, it makes the heart fill with joy!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
