Acts 4:

29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

They prayed, they asked for boldness, they were filled, they spoke with boldness.

Bingo!  I hadn't thought of Acts 4:31!

Jesus said "ask, and you will receive".

If you have some other formula, stop playing games and state it. You aren't the moderator here.

No games.  Just trying to flesh out what people know or don't know.  In Luke 13:11, Jesus concludes His teaching about praying with this:  "If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Now, this was said during the OT, where the vast majority of believers weren't indwelt by the Spirit.  And Jesus was telling His disciples how to receive the Holy Spirit, by asking for the Spirit through prayer.  In the NT, all believers receive the Holy Spirit, so we don't ask for that.

1 John 5:14 says - "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."

Since Eph 5:18 is a command to obey, it is God's will that believers be filled with the Spirit.  This is the only way to produce divine good, which is acceptable to the Father.  Any moral good done in the power of the flesh is unacceptable to the Father, and Isa 64:6 says - "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away."   "filthy rags" in the Hebrew is literally "used menstral rags".  Stinky indeed.

So asking for the filling of the Holy Spirit WHEN having been forgiven and cleansed from our on-going sins, per 1 John 1:9, will result in being filled.

If a believer has unconfessed sin(s), he/she can ask all day and the prayer doesn't get through.  Psa 66:18 - If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

And he gave us two commandments

He emphasized at His sermon on the mount ( The Beatitudes) many of God's commandments. He upped the requirement for meeting each, the thought not being obedient being made equal tod doing of the deed.

I do not conclude that Yeshua  reduced God's commands to two. In emphasis He stated the greatest of these are and then  named two things after stating He was not present to replace the Law's commands, but instead to fulfill them. He demonstrated fulfilment He and only he could do so. He did not eliminate them, it is still a command that one shall not kill as example. It is also an equal sin to think I will like to kill someone. That is how He upped understanding of the sin against God that is generated straight from the heart of fallen mankind that is in need of covering, the same as  the physical act of murder would be.

Who is worthy to do so? The Lamb of God only. The Lamb who came to fulfill the requirement. He did so, willingly giving His life, His perfection,  to cover that which is imperfect thus  reconciling the impossible, any human (Save two in history) being in the presence of Holy God.

If you love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself, which of the ten commandments could you break.  Loving your neighbor not only stops you from breaking the ten commandments, it doesn't let you even to want to.  You can go to hell by just wanting to.

I thought the 10 commandments were part of the old law  old covenant which could not be set aside for a new covenant until it was fulfilled. Only one could fulfill the old.

Rom 3

31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Under the new covenant so Jesus established the new laws in the new covenant.

Heb 7

11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Jesus spoke the commandments to follow while on earth. See

John 15

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Here He shows a separation of the two sets of commandments.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
