I would like to mention that I totally understand if any person can have an assumption if they haven't heard the Director personally  but Dallas Jenkins (Director) is born again evangelical Christian as he already reveals in the conversation with viewers. And the show does have many actors who are Christians, like born again ones, however there are some who are not but are placed in a perfect place where their hearts are opening up a little by little about this Person named Jesus.

Now how do I know?At the beginning and the end of the show Dallas sometimes interviews actors and talk about their faith and their beliefs and about Jesus for the viewers so that viewers can know about the actors and their faith journey.  Also, when Dallas explains the scenes and everything and talks about scriptures he sounds very similar to what we believe and understanding of scripture is similar like many of us in this forum, so it doesn't sound like he doesn't have any clue who Jesus is.

Moreover, he also shares the testimony of people and the video they sent where they share how the show had stirred them and they want to learn more about Jesus and they are doing it by reading Bible. Many have shared that it has encouraged them to go back to the scriptures to learn & get close to God.

I am sharing this bcos the director has mentioned that its in his heart to share Jesus with the world and he is using the gifts and talents God has given him.

I want to add that I agree with original post that its okay to watch if someone wants to or not watch if someone doesn't want to but whats most important is to go back to scripture to know the truth. Which is true for even for the pastor at churches when they preach bcos my pastor use to say.. Its good to come here and listen to sermon but its your responsibility to go back home and read & study it for yourself.

2 Cor. 6:14  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

A little poison mixed into a cake makes the whole cake bad no matter how pretty it looks. We are cautioned not to join together with unbelievers no matter how good the cause lest the Gospel be evil spoken of. Mr. Jenkins, no matter how good his intentions, should know better. But I'm not speaking to him, I'm cautioning the saints to beware of false doctrine mixed in with true. It is a tactic of Satan to do that, as he has from the beginning, so I'm just saying that a little lie here and there spoils the whole thing, especially when put forth as a spiritual portrayal of the Lord Jesus.

If I had a picture of a beautiful actress on my desk at work and my wife questioned me why, and I said 'Oh, I tell everybody that she is you.' And my wife says, 'But that's not really me.' And I say 'I know darling, but because she reminds me of you, acts like you, and sounds like you, I want everybody to know what you're like at home.' Do you think my wife would be pleased? I guarantee she would not. Why then do we think Jesus would be pleased to have Himself portrayed as He is in this show? Or to have His Eternal Word changed because it fits an unbelievers narrative better? And to have people make millions of dollars from a Cliff note version of the Word of God?

Jas 3:10  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Jas 3:11  Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

Jas 3:12  Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

No matter how much true and good is displayed in this show, the false taints the whole thing and that is my caution to others and why I won't watch or recommend. Get to know the real Lord Jesus by reading the Word of God instead of wasting time learning lies.

I hear the Jehovah Witnesses are filming a complete movie (17 hours in length) of the life and times of Jesus.  I wonder how they will address the "limited" dialogue of some of the happenings in the life of Jesus.

I guess the same way all the other gospels movies and TV shows do. Make it up

I agree with everything you said. However, If God has put something in someone's heart to do and share gospel which is by using the gifts and talents God gave them, i am not going to come between that and stop people who are receiving Christ as their Lord and savior and opening bible for the first time in their life. I would let God do His things and I will do my thing which is pray, pray for repentance, pray for clear directions and truths if they have been mislead, pray for wisdom for direction within God's will and desire etc etc. As it is our responsibility too to read the word and not take everything as if its staright from the word. Which can even happen in preaching in the church? People hear sermons and preacher can add their own understanding or experience or some stories from their life experiences and share it the intention is to help people to get the message at the end. I know some can take it as if its straight from the bible (eg- "God helps those who helps themselves ").

God is still Able to use people who may not be where you and I or anyone else are in their faith... yet but they are Obedient enough to walk the path they have been called to by Him even though they are still going through the process of becoming more christ like.

Thats just my take on this subject. Hope I didn't offend you.

Shalom Shalom!

No offense taken, thanks for the grace. I too don't want to cause any to stumble yet a responsibility lies within that compels me to put forth the truth from the Word as I'm led. Though I don't have all the answers and the ones I do are still tainted by my flesh, my spirit yearns to teach what I have been taught by Him. As Paul said in 2 Cor. 4:7 "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." I now only see through a glass darkly. Someday face to face. Blessings.

A fun remembrance; A close family member having just read Tim LaHayes series of books Left Behind  later confused the two witnesses of the Bible with the named two witnesses as given in his books.

An innocent faux pax, but for a teacher, something such as an implanted false thought or picture, could have unintended consequential effects. It is just for that reason I stay away from books such as 'The Gospel of Peter' or 'Barnabas' or 'The Book of Enoch,' that are perhaps good history books but are not Scripture, lest I be confused when teaching and quote or use them as scripture. I have enough trouble keeping Scripture addresses correct without adding 'ghost scriptures.' Good word.

The greater burden is carried by the teacher to be sure.

Some are more vulnerable to certain influences than others are and so for their sake, they must walk carefully. Those of us who are not should be careful not to lay a stumbling block before them. I would never recommend TV shows of any kind to others with this in mind.

I will say this, however: no measure of worldliness can overcome the voice of the Lord. No amount of lies and slander can diminish His purpose and will; no man and indeed, no one and nothing can stand against the Almighty. He has no equal.

I was exposed to the most atrocious things before the Lord claimed me as His own, and those things were made instantly meaningless by the power and voice of God. I'm not concerned in the least by this spectacle of entertainment, because that's what this television show is. "The Chosen" doesn't depict the Lord as He is. Neither do the religious for that matter. Both miss the mark.

I can say this.

This show literally saved my life 4 years ago.    In a really rough time in my life.  Was surfing Amazon prime looking for something  to watch and this kept popping up .  Those days I was usually high on weed n for certain not living a life I should of been in many ways.  Anyway I finally clicked it and watched the first episode and was crying a river by the end of it it.  I think i watched 2 seasons in 1 day.    Got me to start reading scripture again first time in over a decade n start to live a better life and re Introduce my self to going to church.

I see alot of folks get a little upset its not totally "accurate" , it takes liberties to fill in a story,  Mormons originally produced it,  some of the actors aren't even really Christians , etc.       Many Christians i know get to bogged with this or that and forget the 2 most important things ....... which is spelled out I believe in all 4 gospels .    1.   Love God with all your heart 2. Be kind and show love to others .   I think the show does a good job of hitting on both of those as well as a great story.

I haven't watched it, but this is basically the story of every adaption of anything from the Bible. People within the Christian community typically end up being the harshest critics whether it's for good or for ill. For me Philippians 4:8 springs to mind: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

When I look at the things we're instructed to think on it ultimately comes to stuff that draws my thoughts to God. Enjoying a sunset or the light shining on dew in the grass might not be explicitly Christian per se, but through enjoyment of those things I can admire God's artistry and thank Him for being present to witness it. If a film or TV series has the same effect on people I'm not going to judge. In Philippians 1:15-18 Paul noted a situation where people with foul motives were preaching Christ. He rejoiced about it regardless simply because people were sharing the message of Christ. It's an interesting statement, and one worth chewing on.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
