That's just it...it's impossible to know really... because the sources these are coming out of are just as unreliable as the MSM. I do believe I already stated that.

I wouldn't go quite that far about no one caring. Plenty of folks do, and some are busy helping and therefore aren't online right now. I know a few truck drivers that are running supplies to the hurricane hit areas. Also several folks in our amateur radio club are training for emergency communications with FEMA, etc. and they are still assisting with some of the communications needs in the areas hit by Helene. Much of the cell infrastructure is back up, but there are still some gaps being filled by radio. A natural disaster of that size is going to take a long time to get back to normal.

On the news media: I'd have to agree with Pat. There's so much garbage/propaganda out there its hard to know what the reality may be. Even first person videos could get edited. There's not really an answer to that one except to pray for discernment.

No because here's the thing, I could make a video right now, and lie through my teeth about everything, maybe even add in some half baked images of a army camp somewhere and claim it's a fema camp holding trump supporters hostage, and someone would believe it, even though I made the entire thing up.

It's not that I don't care, that's a blatantly false accusation and a weak attempt to win an argument. Being passive aggressive does not make you right.

I just care about facts and truth. Some verifiable facts are right now is that FEMA is under investigation for refusing to give aid to known trump supporters. That's verifiable. 

But, someone on tik tok screaming conspiracy isn't. Even if their intention isn't lying, people in those situations are often stressed out, emotional, and only seeing part of the story.

For example I met someone a few years ago, was a victim of a large vehicle crash. Apparently according to her first responders ignored her at first and refused to treat her because they were racist.

Come to find out they didn't actually ignore her, she was barely injured and initially they didn't have enough people to handle all the victims So when they triaged they saw she wasnt in any immediate peril, have her a bandaid and water and moved on to more serious victims, at least until more EMTs showed up to treat everyone. 

She was basically mad because they loaded up a guy with a broken leg and other serious injuries into the ambulance before her. But the way she made it sound, she was in dire need of help and the racist EMTs didn't help her.

That's the problem with only looking at one side of the story.

I care about the people in Western NC. All my relatives live there. There is still such a huge need no one seems to understand except if you live there and going through it all!! It's worse than people can imagine. Sad that our current Administration doesn't care. Please pray for all that live there. There's so many desperate people there!

I don't know what's going on there because basically I don't believe much of anything Googled- truly.... especially from news reporters and even more so social media

However,I do know some folks that went up to offer help,in any capacity--what they did comment on is how amazed they were to see so many people from all over this Country doing the same-it looks like post apocalypse is what they said only the volunteers are everywhere and where they cannot get to they are walking with pack mules or riding horses and mules to bring needed supplies,food,tents etc.....

I can only remember seeing the aftermath of Andrew- I believe this is much worse,I don't know

There is no need to move this serious situation to conspiracy.  It is devastating.  I speak from first hand witnesses.  We were out of state; but, neighbors in NC gave eyewitness accounts of our area.

Have you any involvement in being a first responder?  You would know that this is beyond normal destruction.  I was a catastrophic adjuster after Hurricane Katrina.  There are some powers and destructions that are beyond comprehension:  the sights, the smells that you can never forget, the pain and suffering.  This should not be a political issue.  This is a time to come out of self and look to help people not remain victims.  Give a hand up!

My comments weren't directed towards the situation itself, but rather the conspiracies surrounding them, which is what this topic is indeed about. No one is saying the hurricanes didn't happen or that it's not a dire situation.

What's in question is all the "they're intentionally doing this" or "fema is making concentration camps" stuff, that is clearly conspiracy theory material so yes this should be moved.
