Actually it can be beneficial because nourishing a tattoo can empower someone's faith.

It can remind someone of his faith and create a Thanksgiving heart in him . And in difficult situations it can reminds  him that he is not alone.

Even if anyone questions someone's faith he can say  that the Cross is an expression or a confession of the faith in his heart and no condemnation can erase it.

Hi @Your closest friendnt

What you said seems indeed to have been this Christian's experience, right?

......................................

I had weighed everything up , talked to my pastor, reflected on scripture  .. it did serve as an encouragment at the time. I have had quite a few conversations at work when people notice it.

@farouk I live in and grew up in a strong Mennonite culture - and yes, even tho its a culture, it is strong religious beliefs so strong in fact they the older Mennonite churches will excommunicate some one for breaking any religious beliefs including tats.

Some will even condemn there own people to hell for it - thank God my church was a bit more liberal, but still had strong religious beliefs.

Hi @LastDaysJames Reminds me a little of Acts 16.3, where Paul circumcised Timothy. Elsewhere Paul argues very strongly indeed against compulsory circumcision (Galatians, etc.). But as a possible or likely way to facilitate Timothy's opportunities in the Gospel it could be seen in another light completely.

It's fair to say that in itself there is no spiritual value in a tattoo. But if a faith-based talking point (or thinking point) is facilitated by going in for an ink up, some Christian men and women would think it worth the moderate expense and slight discomfort.

People with tattoos don't really bother me and I have friends who have them and one of the most dedicated Christians I know has them all over his body.

I guess it can be said that some Christians are indeed in different situations to others. What one Christian might think a bit over the top in tattooing might seem more natural to another Christian:

For a Bible verse tattoo the needles need to go deep enough into the dermis; but the Word itself needs to go deeper spiritually, as I think you imply...

New viewpoint of respecting the roses of the world, least life reward my cynicism with a heart full of thorns. Any expression of devotion to Jesus is a heart warming experience. The Holy Spirit makes it beautiful before the Father.

Thanks for your comment, @Scott Free; and I think I get your meaning.

While for some ppl going into a tattoo parlor may have absolutely nothing to do with faith, for others may in fact give a sense of joy in gospel opportunity.

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 inked onto her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also. For her, the experience of having gone in and received the ink up at the parlor seemed to be a source of quiet joy.

Our pastor is a bit different since he's a former biker

@walla299 PS: You mentioned bikers; also, for ppl from a military background who have quite a lot in common, this often does inform a lot of visits into a parlor, whether for former service personnel themselves or members of their households, often for ink up sessions for family-, faith- or patriotic-related designs.

FYI:

.............................

My wife has talked about this possibility .. a hard time deciding what to put permanently on her body. She has been urged by other military spouses to get one.

Like you said for a biker — it allows him to share the gospel with some who would not listen to most believers otherwise — this may often be the case also among members of military households.

Whether for current or former bikers or for members of military households, such a shared background is often regarded both as a strong reason both to go in and receive ink and also to exchange impressions of the results of such tattoo parlor visits, which may for some ppl prove to be an ideal opportunity for someone from a similar background to read and talk about a suitable Bible verse.

Back a bit My daughter got her nose pierced after she was older. I did not like nose piercings, or the tongue. Probably a generational thing. I am getting used to it more now.

I do like multiple piercing up the ear. That looks nice I think.

Hi @Anne2

Don't you think anyway that piercing customs are really a bit like tiny tattoos? a lot of ppl get them and, while you said it took you a while to get used to seeing some piercings, presumably getting accustomed to it comes with time.

Similar to faith-based tattoos such as this, FYI:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
